Drinkwell Butterfly Pet Fountain by PetSafe

Have to say I have had cats all of my life. Cats LOVE fresh water. Trying to drink out of your faucets or anywhere they can get fresh water. This one is designed beautifully. Not only is it super quiet even with the butterfly, it breaks the waterfall into 4 sections, so great for multi-cat households. The directions say you can remove the butterfly to make it quieter, but I'm here to tell you it is super quiet anyway. On top of all this, there is 2 filters to keep the water clean & fresh. Assembly was a breeze too. Also I went online to order the 2 filters as 1 is supposed to be changed every 2-4 weeks & the other one every couple of months. I purchased enough to change the first one every 2 weeks & got a year supply as well as the other filter that will supply me ... MoreHave to say I have had cats all of my life. Cats LOVE fresh water. A little noisy, but decent for the price

My cats were terrified of this at first, but they have come around. I realized that unless it is very full, it makes a lot of noise. It was also on vinyl flooring at first, causing excess noise as well. It wasn't until I put it on carpet and filled it all the way up that I realized it could be nearly silent(to my, admittedly not great, ears). Then, they were willing to give it a chance. Its been a few weeks, and I've gotten used to listening for when it needs to be filled more. They drink more water from this fountain than they ever were from a bowl, so they must be happy with it.

Awesome, my cat loves it & we love to see her drink water!

I got this for our cat. We put it in her room. She's really weird about drinking water - I have never seen her drink out of her water bowl but on many occasions I have seen her get into my bathtub and lick the water droplets from our shower curtain after someone showers. I have also busted her on my kitchen counter drinking water from a dish in the sink. She's strange. I thought she'd like a fountain, maybe it would entice her to drink more water. The fountain runs perfectly and it's relatively quiet. She was attracted to it right away, she watched it for a few minutes then got brave enough to stick her paw into the stream of water. She was surprised that her paw got wet, but she licked the water off and then started to drink from the falling water streams. Success! She loves it. She gets a little bit too lit sometimes and makes a bit of a mess with the water, but it's not big deal. We're just happy to see her drinking. Excellent fountain, and it's very cute as well!

Bad in many ways

I bought your 1.5 litre, butterfly cat fountain. It's bad in many ways. The sound it makes is almost impossible to live with. My one cat will not drink out of it. You can't tell when it needs to be refilled so it either dries up or gets overfilled. It's garbage and i'm very sorry I bought it. I have two male cats and run a fountain 24/7, I don't even mind that I buy a fountain every year but yours I couldn't live with for more than 2 months and now I can't return it. $50!

Good water drinking system for my cat!!

Overall I'm very satisfied with this fountain. I'm using this fountain for my cat and it is placed in a family room. The only reasons I'm giving this a 4/5 star review are the following:1.) While the motor is basically silent, if the room is quiet you will hear some noise from the water moving into the bowl. This can be distracting if you are sensitive to random background noise. Basically it can sound like something is dripping in the background. Also, if the water level runs low, you may hear the pump working harder.2.) I'm using filtered tap water that comes through a water softener in this fountain. If you don’t clean the fountain periodically, it will get slimy on the inside where the water reservoir for the pump is. Loud and Dirty

After I sucked the cord to my cat's Catit drinking fountain into my vacuum and replacements were out of stock at our local Petcos, I chose this instead. My cat stopped drinking when I installed this. Might be due to the noise it produces, might be due to the charcoal sediment the filter spews into the water supply, might be due to the open basin design that allows contaminants to settle. Whatever the reason, I went to another store and found the Catit brand.Since I failed to keep the packaging (my fault), I am unable to return this truly inferior drinking fountain. I suppose I'll have to repurpose as much of it as I can. A tabletop fountain perhaps? The noise the pump motor makes will be as aggravating to me as it was to my cat though. I dunno.

Not the worst, but wouldn't buy it again. Feels cheap & can overflow

It's cute, and it's not horrible, especially for the price. But despite filling it not quite to the max fill line, it overflowed. If it's sitting on 100% level ground, the water goes to the very brim of the tray. I sat it on a spot on carpet where it was just the absolute tiniest bit unlevel when I set it up, and found it spilling water onto the floor when I checked it a few minutes later. It also feels pretty cheap, but I guess the price reflects that. I'm glad it has sitting water available in the tray, vs. giving the cats only the option of drinking directly from the fountain like some cat fountains do. Overall though, I don't think I'd buy it again.

Provides constant circulation for fresh water

I like that this PetSafe Drinkwell Butterfly Fountain provides constant water circulation so that my cat isn't drinking from stagnant water in a bowl. My cat was a little scared of this fountain at first, so I left it unplugged so that she could get used to it by drinking water from it without it running. After a few days, I plugged it back in and then she was comfortable with the flowing water.I washed all of the parts and rinsed the carbon filter for a few minutes under running water before using this the first time, as the directions tell you to do, but still found black material in the water after the first use. Quit working

While it seems to have worked fine for several months, it is less than a year old, maybe 10 months, it gets washed weekly and filter cleaned weekly and only filtered water used/replaced weekly, it has stopped working today. It seems the electric cord has quit functioning. Everything double checked, outlet is working but the cord doesn't work anymore. If I had known it would last such a short time, I would have chosen something else.

Useless plastic. Save your money.

Brought it home, set it up and it would never push water up through the fountain part. Took it apart and resituated all the parts repeatedly. Never could get it to push enough water up to work as a fountain. Our other PetSafe fountain never failed to work, it was just annoying to clean. Will be returning this one.
