Older and larger appliance had 3 different filters (which filers out particles depending on their size)Overall: I am very happy with this air purifier. I hope it gives me a long service life! I would highly recommend it!

Love the one button touch for 3 different modes auto/turbo/sleep , I use auto most of the time but when I want the purifier to get to work quickly I switch to turbo, sleep mode is great for the bedrooms when you are sleeping and very quiet in this mode that you can hardly hear at all. I like the air quality light indicator circle around the button which has 4 different colours to indicate good/fair/poor/very poor to make you aware. Purifier works on many pollutants and fine particals and removes 99.5% as small as 0.003 microns! I like the fact there is a filter replacement alert light so you will know when to replace the filter without guessing. Maintenance of the purifier is easy to clean too ,wipe surface/air outlet cover daily or every other day with dry cloth , clean the air quality sensor with a dry cotton swab every two months , you can clean the surface of the filter around every 30 days with a soft wet cloth or with a vacuum cleaner but make sure it's not a high powered industrial vacuum as you could damage the filter. I just love this product and it has made a big difference to the air quality my family are breathing in which gives me reassurance! We are a family of four with two allergy sufferers in the household , this product as definitely made a difference to them , coughing/ sneezing /runny nose/itchy eyes is not happening as much as it was before using purifier. Purifier starts to automatically clean when it's picks up gases/odours and other pollutants such as pet dander /outdoor pollution /dust/pollen mould spores /virus/bacteria and much more .Nice points about the purifier it's easy to set up/use , it's compact but robust and not to heavy or big so you can easily move to other rooms in your home where you think the air quality is poor and needs cleaning. Will definitely purchasing a second phillips purifier and would highly recommend for asthmatics and allergy suffers .

Set it up and off it goes, Absolutely brilliant compared to the last unit I had. Small and compact, yet does the job brilliantly. The minute it detects anything that shouldn't be there, on it goes, and turbo goes on, I absolutely love it. I'm breathing easier, and the room smells good, The only complaint I have, is the noise levels, it is quite noisy on turbo especially. Other than that, highly recommended. Lost that 5th star, due to the noise of it and the expense of replacing filters. Phillips, can you try and get the cost of replacement filters down a bit please?

Great product, with only a few small niggles
30 October 2021

The Philips AC0820 unit was really easy to unpack and set up, instructions were fairly simple to understand, and we were up and running within a few minutes. The packaging is minimal and came with a separate power supply and instructions. While the filter is preinstalled, it needs to be unpacked and the plastic packaging removed before use.The device is very easy to operate with only one control button for all settings and a power button to the rear. Just place it somewhere in a room, choose a mode, and let it do its job.The device felt solid, yet lightweight. A simple, yet premium looking product. When running using one of the modes (Turbo, Auto, Sleep), we really loved how fresh and clean the air felt during use, we swear that we slept better when it was on. We continue to use it and are even tempted to get another unit for our living room.It was very insightful (and a little worrying) to know how bad our air quality can be in our house. Looking forward to trying it out in the summer to help with the pollen (this review was written in late autumn). The unit does a sleep mode, which is a nice touch! We've used this mode the most and have had it on most nights since setup without real issue.Size-wise it's not a giant unit but is a bit bulky if you wanted to place it on a side table, and we struggled to find a suitable place for it. If you don't have much space, you may want to look for a smaller model.Sleep mode is a really good addition to a unit such as this. However, while the fan noise is barely noticeable, it is still slightly audible for lighter sleepers. It didn't really worry my partner, but while nodding off I was aware of the background hum for a short while. We also felt that the sleep mode light could be much dimmer, as it's very noticeable in a completely dark room. Both are fairly small issues, but this information be of use to some.Overall, a great product with a couple of small niggles, but something we would recommend to those who have trouble with bad air quality. The jury is still out on how it deals with spring/summer pollen, but we have high hopes for this device.

Not sure
16 February 2023

We received the product today. It's too early to say anything, but I'm surprised that it shows that our air quality is excellent, because if it was, I wouldn't take it. 😅 First of all, I smell smells and something I can't define in the room after the appearance of mold on the wall. Even though we cleaned it, I have a feeling that it is still there, so we took the product because we have children and they have been coughing a lot lately. Also the air in our room is dry due to the heating so I think that will improve as well since the product blows out cooler air.

Best purchase of the year. Highly recommend. Purifies air. Has a sensor that recognises when the air quality is bad such as during cooking, straightening my hair or powdering my face. The purifier automatically goes into turbo mode to purify the air and auto sets itself back once the air has been purified. Recommended to family members and they’ve all purchased the same. No regrets. It’s now on 24/7.

The Philips Series 800 Air Purifier is a well-designed air purifier that outputs superior clean air. The single touchpad cycles through different modes of Auto, Sleep and Turbo. With a 4-step real-time Air Quality coloured ring ranging from blue (good) to red (poor) to display the current air condition. The device claims that it can clean a room of 20 m² in under 16 minutes which I found to be accurate and true. In sleep mode, the display lights are dimmed, and the purifier operates silently so as not to disturb your sleep with a noise level as low as 35db. At the back, there is a switch to turn on or off the device alongside a removable plug for the power. At the back, there is a switch to turn on or off the device alongside a removable plug for the power. The plug head is small and has a 1.6m long cable so the device can be of some distance away from an available socket. The design of the air purifier blends well into various home interiors and complements the rest of the furniture, making it a great addition to have. It is suitable for a room size of up to 49 m². However, the device does not have any sort of rubber pads on its base which makes it quite slippery on surfaces of furniture it is placed on. I would suggest adding on some rubber feet to the base on your own if you have pets or children around the house who might accidentally bump and knock over the device since it is actually very lightweight at 2.4 kg.The purifier boasts VitaShield and AeraSense technology with its filter to remove 99.5% nano-sized particles that are as small as 0.003um. On replacement of the FY0194 filter, the process is really simple and clean. Simply flip the device upside down and twist the base open. Then using the flap to pull out the old filter and dump it before doing the same with the new filter. A process that can be done in seconds. No mess and free from sneezes so that even those with allergies can do so. It is not possible to check the filter life of the filter, but when the lifespan is almost up, an icon will appear on the top of the touchpad to indicate so.All in all, the Philips Series 800 Air Purifier is a simple and hassle-free air purifier that cleans the air of any room it is put in. Its design is clean and minimalist complementing any home interior. It offers a 2-year global warranty and has high energy efficiency.

Have had other air purifier before but none as quiet as this. Only used it for about a week and placed it in the master bedroom and air in the bedroom was good as the nostrils were not blocked the next morning especially during this haze season. To the sensitive sleeper the sensor can be annoying if the sensor keeps shifting mode from good and then back-down to fair or poor. Why that might happen depends on the bedroom if the windows are air tight. if not pollutants that come in might trigger the sensor.Cleaning the filter is easy. Turn the filter upside down and unscrew the bottom and vacuum the filter. There is also a replacement alert according to the user manual. If the filter becomes too dirty it must be replaced or else the appliance might stop operating and get locked, according to the user manual. Do not know how much the filter will cost.

I received the Philips AC0820 Air Purifier to test & review under the Philips product tester scheme. On opening the box there’s a quick-start pictorial instructions in the lid flap that were very easy to follow. After removing the packaging from the nano-protect filter & re-installing in the bottom of the unit, I had the product up & running in less than 2 minutes. I then had a read through the written instructions and found them pretty similarly easy to follow. For first use I plugged in and turned on the purifier. It started up in auto-mode with the air quality sensor showing a purple-red colour and sounding like it was in top speed – about the sound level of an electric fan I’d guess. Within about 10 minutes the air quality display had changed to a blue-purple colour and then pretty quickly to just blue. The sound level/speed had also reduced quite a bit and it was then barely noticeable – about the sound level of the fan in your laptop. There’s also a turbo mode & a sleep mode (during which the lights dim down & the noise level is very quiet) though I’ve tended to just leave it in auto so far. It pretty much runs in the background 24/7 unless we move it to a different room of the house, but with doors open (we’re in a 3 bed bungalow) the light stays blue even when moving it from a couple of rooms away!I’ve been using the purifier for around 2 weeks now so it’s not needed a proper clean yet, however I’ve taken the filter out and given it a quick hoover & was amazed at the level of particles collected in such a short time.I can’t over enthuse about the difference this purifier has made around the house! My wife suffers from hay-fever and would often wake up with a runny nose & eyes even at this time of year & since we’ve started using the purifier she’s not had a single morning of symptoms. We got ourselves a new pet cat around 6 months ago & unfortunately my Mother had been unable to visit us due to her pretty bad allergies to both dust & pet dander. After using the purifier for 5 or 6 days we decided to try a visit & after a few hours she had no symptoms at all. She’s even now come for an overnight visit which would definitely not have been possible before (& slept with the purifier in her room overnight with no issues). Finally, we also have a small spare room that I’ve been using as a home office, but there’s been a bit of damp/mould in the corner this autumn. It definitely takes the worry of mould spores away when the air quality light turns to blue after around 10 minutes of the purifier running in the room & I can get on with my work without it playing on my mind.In short – easy to set up & use, runs in the background so you can pretty much forget it’s there, cheap to run & the results so far are beyond my expectations. Makes me wish I’d got one years ago!
