The most efficient IPL, 6 months after a full treatment cycle. IPL technology with SenseIQ provides long-lasting full body hair removal, in the comfort of your own home. With individual guidance through the Lumea IPL app, your skin will be as soft as in the beauty salon. IPL stands for "Intense Pulsed Light." This is a technology that uses warm, gentle light to put hair to rest. The light is directed into the hair root and causes the hair follicle to go into dormancy. This stimulates the hair to detach from the root. Repeated treatments gradually prevent the hair from growing back. This leaves your skin beautiful, hair-free and noticeably smooth.

I started getting laser hair removal at the clinic (Honolulu MedSpa) but it's so expensive, even with the 'once in a lifetime deal I got' that I couldn't continue other areas, which is how I found Lumea. I tried others but despite having light skin and brunette hair, it either wouldn't flash or the laser was too tiny and took far too long(and painful!)Of the 4 units I bought, I returned all but the Lumea BR1956 which I LOVE! I was able to get rid of hairs I wouldn't tell an unjudgemental priest about!Being a nurse, I've seen all sorts of places women get hairs that they don't warn/teach about school (breasts, chest, chin, pelvic floor to inner though area (not just bikinin), lower back, tummy line, toes, fingers, upper lip, jawline, nose). To go to a pro med ... MoreI started getting laser hair removal at the clinic (Honolulu MedSpa) but it's so expensive, even with the 'once in a lifetime deal I got' that I couldn't continue other areas, which is how I found Lumea. KEEP IN MIND... there needs to be some sort of contrast between hair root and skin. If you've been bleaching dark arm hair platinum blonde, it will still work because the root/bulb is still darker. Philips has AMAZING warranty coverage and customer service when you can speak with humans who actually care about making sure you're happy. All in all, I would highly recommend Philips Lumea! I wish they'd specify this but the main difference between the models is the accessories. While they might seem frivolous, they're actually quite essential. If you're trying to get you upper lip while using a "body" adapter, it might not make contact with the sensors. It really depends on each woman's structure but it definitely is far easier with the correct adapters (face, legs, body, bikini). It's a one time investment that literally lasts permanently since it damages hair follicles preventing hairs from growing back.

The Lumea Prestige looks and feels impressive, every inch a high end product. It arrives with charge in it but you should fully charge it before use. I was a little apprehensive about using the Lumea, I was convinced is was going to be a difficult process, would surely be painful at some points, and questioned how good the results would be. I was wrong. The Lumea Prestige is a brilliant piece of kit and comes with a comprehensive user manual and a fantastic app to help you manage your treatment schedule. I felt a little clumsy when I first used the Lumea, but was surprised at how quickly it became as easy as shaving is. The Lumea is super smart, detects your skin tone and tells you which intensity to use. There's a clear light that indicates when the unit is ready for use. It does take a bit of practice to get used to the 90 degree angle (the Lumea wont flash at any other angle) but I was zapping my leg like a pro in a few minutes. I found the slide and flash method (its in the manual) best for treating my legs and the stamp and flash method best for smaller, curvier areas. Id recommend setting plenty of time aside for your first use of the Lumea Prestige, just because its worth spending the time getting familiar with the unit and the process. It took me just over half an hour to treat my legs the first time I used it, now it takes less than twenty minutes. Using the Lumea Prestige is not at all painful, I felt nothing more than a pleasant warm sensation on my skin. It's super easy and convenient to use. I found that after the first treatment the sandpaper stubble feeling on my legs that's present after shaving, wasn't as noticeable. By the second use, the hair regrowth was slower and finer. I have followed the app schedule and completed 4 bi weekly treatments so far. The treated areas are now hair free. I've used my Lumea on my legs, underarms bikini area and face and I am more than happy with the results and would be confident in recommending the Lumea Prestige. Its fantastic! So easy to use, the attachments are easy to swap over and the whole unit is easy to keep clean. My experience using the Lumea has been a very positive one. Charging time is great, the battery will struggle to complete a whole body treatment on a single charge though. The manual is clear and helpful and the app is brilliant, you can set reminders so you never miss a treatment. Yes the Lumea is expensive, but its worth it. Convenient, salon quality results at home. Its the easiest, cleanest, most convenient method of hair removal I have ever tried. I love it!

I had reached a point where I couldn’t walk past a mirror without checking for a new chin hair!! It was really starting to affect my confidence to the point I’d be self conscious of the angle of light on my face if I was talking to someone - as it would show up all my hairs.I’ve tried waxing, shaving, epilating and in salon laser treatment appeared to be the most effective for me. With lockdown this wasn’t an option for me. I circled the Philips Lumea for months on various websites looking at all the reviews and waiting for a bargain sale day and then I took the plunge. I’m so glad I did. It has literally given me back hours of my life again. No longer am I plucking last thing before bed, first thing in the morning and every time I walk past a mirror!!Overall ... MoreI had reached a point where I couldn’t walk past a mirror without checking for a new chin hair!! The app really helps keep you on track and it doesn’t take any longer than if you were shaving. It’s been slightly less effective on my leg hair (but I suspect those hairs would survive a nuclear blast!) but it has definitely increased how long I can go without waxing or shaving! For my face, I couldn’t be happier with the results. Also, great results on my bikini line and pits - invaluable over the summer especially!!!I’ve recommended this product to so many friends. If you tot up how much you spend on salon or home removals over the year, it more than pays for itself. Definitely worth the money.
I suffer with hirsutism because I have PCOS. I have fairly tanned skin, but thick dark hairs, particularly in the bikini zone. I'm only 21 and I've always felt really, really self conscious of my hair from a young age. I've been shaving daily since I was 11 years old. I remember being bullied at a dancing show once when I was 10 years old, because I had armpit hair! Waxing isn't something I've ever been able to afford, although I did go once before a wedding and the woman told me off for shaving so far out on my bikini line - she said that was why I had thick, dark hairs growing down my inner thighs. This is actually nonsense, hair does not grow back thicker when you shave it. She had never heard of PCOS, so it was really embarrassing for me. Shaving daily obviously helped, but it wasn't a solution as I was always left with VERY noticeable stubble, ingrown hairs and redness all around my bikini area.My boyfriend bought me the lumea last year for my birthday, and omg it has literally changed my life. I would normally spend 20 minutes in the shower just shaving each day (much to the dismay of my money-conscious student housemates). I literally don't have to shave anymore, apart from before treatments and occasionally if I haven't don't a treatment in a couple of months or if I miss patches. My bikini area is now sooooo smooth because there's no hair growing. It's incredible. I bought a new bikini yesterday which is low at the front - I would never have been able to wear bikini bottoms like that before! Honestly, for me, it's life changing. I think it took about 6 weeks of initial treatment before for the hair to stop growing. I loveeeeeeeee it*pros I said it was pain-free, this is true except for my bikini area on the initial treatments as it hurts when it burns hairs, and no matter how hard I used to try, when I shaved I could not get rid of the thick black stubble, so it would burn it and therefore hurt a bit.
Hi, I've bought the lumea essential about 2 years ago and have been using it sporadically ever since. I have fair skin and blonde to light brown hair, so I was a bit worried that it won't work because there's a little difference between my skin and hair but I've tried anyway because I get irritation everytime I epilate or shave. Even though I wasn't that regular with using it, my lower legs now have only occasional bleach blond hairs that are very fine so can only be seen from very close. I don't get any irritation using it. The only downside is that it takes some time and because I am very slight I have loads of bones sticking out and these areas are almost impossible to do. However, it will be easy for someone with more flesh or bigger bones. It was a bit of an ... MoreHi, I've bought the lumea essential about 2 years ago and have been using it sporadically ever since. Firstly, I received this as my surprise Birthday present from my husband. He selected this product after a long research comparing multiple products of different brands. The product fits its description as stated. It can be used on most of the body parts with unique attachments. Initially I started using this at level 4 as per the skintone suggestion by the product but it was a bit painful. Later I have reduced the level to 2 and it worked wonders. I have started using this product on my legs and after 4 sessions I was able to see and feel the difference. The hair growth reduced by 65 - 70% and now I just do the regular touch-ups as per my schedule. I've waited since last March before reviewing this item in order to give Lumea a fair bit of time to start working, seeing as many before me have explicitly expressed this IPL treatment isn't a quick fix.Ultimately I've found this to be an accurate description. Followed instructions to the letter regarding shaving beforehand and regular scheduling... Even downloaded the Lumea app to help keep track of the earlier treatments.By the end of the first 6 weeks I must admit I was despondent. Hadn't seen any improvement whatsoever, despite my skin/hair colouration meaning I was applicable to safely use the highest (5) setting for the IPL bulb. I even started wondering if I would be one of the anomalies in the initial tests for Lumea who saw more hair growth or indeed ... MoreI've waited since last March before reviewing this item in order to give Lumea a fair bit of time to start working, seeing as many before me have explicitly expressed this IPL treatment isn't a quick fix.Ultimately I've found this to be an accurate description. Hadn't seen any improvement whatsoever, despite my skin/hair colouration meaning I was applicable to safely use the highest (5) setting for the IPL bulb. I even started wondering if I would be one of the anomalies in the initial tests for Lumea who saw more hair growth or indeed seemed completely immune. In the end, it all became a (worthwhile!) exercise in patience. Kept at it past the 6 week mark out of sheer belligerence, seeing as this item was an expensive investment, but had started falling back on my epilation routines to tide me over. Interestingly, despite having read a number of accounts from reviewers warning not to epliate or wax (anything that pulls the hairs out by the root, really) between treatments, it was only a week or so after the return of my epilating that I realised I was - finally! - getting results from the IPL.The biggest indicator is the fact the hairs aren't growing as fast or as strongly per usual. They are starting to become very fine which has additionally made epilation much quicker and easier. My epilator, I fear, may well become defunct within a year! The hairs on all parts of the skin I've used Lumea upon are really beginning to give up. At this stage, each stretch of time before another IPL treatment and my using the epilator are becoming longer and longer. I cannot even describe how happy I am with this (long-in-the-coming!) development, as I have dabbled and struggled with pretty much every tool and method of hair-removal since early teens to my late twenties. As a time-tested enemy of body hair I give Lumea my seal of approval and would happily recommend this product to anyone willing to invest in a little more time and effort into remaining hair free.To conclude: I'm really grateful for this product
The Philips Lumea Prestige is in my honest opinion an amazing choice for painless hair removal, I did suffer with ingrowing hairs from disposable razors so was looking for a way to keep myself fresh and smooth for longer without these issues. I certainly found it, the IPL is compact and I love the feature it has of testing the skin first to see which amount of strength is required to safely laser the hair and slow down the growth rather than a product where you just do it and hope it's going to be ok. The product arrived very well packaged to ensure that there was no damage to the machine or the laser area which i was very pleased with, there are different attachments for different areas of the body and i love the fact that they have a little picture on them so you know which one to use for where, but its a guide so you can use whichever you want really.I have to admit I was a little nervous at first as I stupidly assumed it would hurt...But once I laid everything out and read the manual I began by starting with the skin analysis where you touch it to your skin and the machine tests your skin and tells you which setting to use strength wise to ensure a safe level of intensity.. this is a bonus for anyone nervous like myself. You can use it on legs, underarms, bikini line, facial hair, the list is endless. Can I just say I did remove my leg hair before starting this process as they were quite long and left it 24 hours for skin to settle before starting with the IPL this ensures that the pulses of light go directly through to the hair folicle giving the instructions not to grow and in effect to go into its resting stage :-)Really you are not laserring the hair off you are sending messages with the laser to slow right down and prevent regrowth. Any hair will naturally shed off anyone who knows about hair knows there is 3 stages and depending on which stage of growth you are in is how long you will get between shaving your legs or underarms etc... but this product actually does that work for you by telling it not to grow... I used the Philips Lumea Prestige initially once every 2 weeks and do this for 6 weeks after this time you will see that the hair growth has slowed right down, if by chance you notice a couple of strays that might have been missed you can like me shave, it wont hurt but after this the touch up can be done once every 4-8 weeks there is no need to do it more than this as the results will be the same. So using the Philips IPL does NOT hurt whatsoever, I was a little nervous but there is no pain just a bright flash of light, I will say that I do feel that a small pair of goggles would be an added extra but its really not a big deal. All in all I am really pleased that I managed to find a way to give me pain free hair removal, stop me wasting money on disposable razors and shaving balms and not have to deal with razor rash and in growing hairs that's the most important one of all.. I'm giving this Philips Lumea Prestige IPL a big thumbs up, the travel bag is big enough to hold all the machine, accessories and charger and I finally feel clean free, smooth and fresh.... A+++++
Sceptical as I was at first, as with most 'at-home' beauty gadgets, this device worked so well for me! I have very fair, sensitive skin with thick, dark fast-growing hair. After at least 15 years of epilating and waxing, since my early thirties especially my legs just never looked smooth anymore. Hairs were growing at different rates and constant 'strawberry skin'. The Lemea IPL 9000 reduced my hair to at least 50% after only two uses (2 weeks apart) and completely removed the appearance of strawberry legs! I did use the Ameliorate body lotion the first week after my treatments, which also worked wonders making sure the hairs that did grow back didn't turn into ingrown hairs. Now, after 6 treatments in a row, my legs, underarms and bikini line are almost hairless, ... MoreSceptical as I was at first, as with most 'at-home' beauty gadgets, this device worked so well for me! Now, after 6 treatments in a row, my legs, underarms and bikini line are almost hairless, soft and even in tone. I truly never expected this to work so well for me! I do a maintenance treatment once every 2 months or so and occasionally just shave any recurring hairs. These are softer hairs however, and grow super slow. Easy to quick-shave without getting ingrown hairs. What maybe made the biggest difference for me is that my hair follicles now don't look inflamed or irritated anymore at all, making my skin look really happy and even. Crazy happy I invested in this, it truly helped me be a happier person, obsessing less over the bits I didn't like about my body :-)
