An elegant and clean scent, philosophy hits the mark yet again. Running out the door between the beach and dinner, I spritzed this on (yes! It is a spray, not pump!) for an instant refresh - it is a calm clean, not an overwhelming one. Itâs a â wow, I feel feminine. I received this product for free from Influenster and Philosophy in exchange for my honest review and opinion. I wish I could share a picture of my Philosophy perfume collection so you would know how much I truly love the brand... before delving into this review! I have SEVERAL Philosophy products, and this "luminous body oil" just... isn't it. I specifically picked this product because it's one of theirs I don't have, and I am sorry to review it does not perform as advertised. It sprays ON a glittery oil (see pics) but as soon as it's rubbed in, any "luminosity" is gone, oilyness is gone (which, may be a good or bad thing depending on your preference) and the scent left behind is extremely subtle. Not as a luminous oil. So, there are some pros and cons to this product, but overall, what it's marketed as/for; it doesn't hit the mark. For me, at least.

Back in middle school (the years fondly remembered as the early aughts), roll on body glitter was the coolest thing to come out of Bath and Body Works since the Cucumber Melon fragrance. You were a nobody if you didnât have that silvery disco ball look adorning your collar bones, shoulders, and occasionally your cheek bones if you dared. This is what Iâm reminded of when I carefully covered my body with Pure Grace. Did my skin feel hydrated? Not particularly. Actually, I felt as if I had been at the beach all day and my salty sweat had dried on my body. Did I smell as I imaged Her Grace, the Duchess of Hastings smelled. Surely not. There was really no smell at all. But did I sparkle? You bet your sweet biscuits I did! So much so that it cover everything around me. ... MoreBack in middle school (the years fondly remembered as the early aughts), roll on body glitter was the coolest thing to come out of Bath and Body Works since the Cucumber Melon fragrance. I have used other Philosophy products in the past and really liked them, so I was excited to try this Pure Grace Luminous Body Oil. It comes in a glass bottle that feels sturdy and high-quality, and it has a silver metal cap and spray pump. The oil itself is shimmering coppery gold, and the overall appearance is gorgeous! I liked the spray applicator in theory, and it did work well for quickly applying it on my body. I also found that just a single spray goes very far and can be used to cover a substantial amount of skin. However, the spray also results in oil landing on nearby surfaces. If youâre doing it on a smooth surface (tile, hardwood, etc.), it does make that flooring very slippery, so apply with caution. Going forward, I will probably spray onto my hands ... MoreI have used other Philosophy products in the past and really liked them, so I was excited to try this Pure Grace Luminous Body Oil. If youâre doing it on a smooth surface (tile, hardwood, etc.), it does make that flooring very slippery, so apply with caution. Going forward, I will probably spray onto my hands and apply it like that. I did feel like it made my skin look instantly more hydrated and luminous, and the shimmer does show up as small specks of sparkle. I think itâs a nice touch that feels summery yet is subtle enough that your skin doesnât look âsparkly.â My skin did continue to feel oiled after application, like it never fully absorbed, but it didnât feel overly oily, and I wasnât worried about it transferring to clothes or other surfaces. It also has a fragrance thatâs fairly strong. Iâm not quite sure how to describe it, but it almost reminded me of scented bug spray wipes (to keep mosquitos away) that I used to use. As a result, it does bring back summery associations, but it also doesnât feel like an elegant or indulgent scent. Itâs not a bad fragrance. I just personally didnât love it.
I guess I will start with the positive before I ramble on about how much I don't like this product. The packaging looks very nice and luxurious. Nice and heavy. The scent is a simple clean soap smell, which I liked and the scent lasted a long time. Unfortunately, those are the only pros to this body oil. Let's start with the packaging. Like I said, it's heavy and luxurious feeling but it's too large to comfortably hold in one hand and the shape is basically impossible hold when your hands are oily. The spritzer is garbage and the body oil itself feels like I rubbed vegetable oil on my body. I feel sticky all day, but what makes it even worse is my skin still feels dry! The glitter is too thick to spray out so you get like 3 glitter specs. Anyways, Philosophy, I would suggest going back to the drawing board for this one.
VERY disappointed, I fell for the on-air hype again. First off - the "shimmer" lasts only a moment and then it's gone. GONE. The glow it provides is minimal at best when first spraying on. I got Pure Grace, one of my (used to be) favorites, and it (sorry) stunk. I washed it off after a couple hours. I thought it would dry down to something good - NOT. Further, the other posts are correct. It dries out your skin horribly. You can SEE the dryness it causes. I confess I initially bought it for the summer healthy-looking sheen it could provide, but there is nothing redeeming about this product. I don't know what's going on with Philosophy and its' parent company, but it AIN'T good... There are other much better shimmer products out there in the market and I should have ... MoreVERY disappointed, I fell for the on-air hype again. There are other much better shimmer products out there in the market and I should have looked into that before jumping on the bandwagon. Said it before in a post pertaining to another recent Philosophy review and I'll say it again - save your money and hard-earned $$$. This product is not the winner I thought it would be. Hope this helps...
Philosophy is known for its elegant scents and quality products and this one ranks up there with the best. First the good points besides smell, hydration this oil when applied and damp after the shower skin absorbs wonderfully. Even tried washing my arm after applying as a test and water sheds right off instead of soaking in allowing your bodies natural moisture to stay put. It took soap and water in the shower to completely remove the product. I would not advise applying on dry skin as it will not absorb as well at stay kind of greasy. The shimmer is beautiful and applies glow making you look fresh and glowing, however I did find the sparkle getting on darker apparel which o was not a fan of. Overall the luminous oil was great however I would choose the same oil over the glittery luminous for every day wear with the same scent. Product bottle is large and a few sprays goes a long way so the value per bottle is good.
I was amazed with Philosophy Pure Grace Luminous Body Oil the second I opened the packaging! đ The fine glitter and shine is stunning! When spraying it onto my skin I love how much it makes it glow and sparkle. In addition to the beautiful glow, it also keeps my skin soft and hydrated. The spray nozzle sprays an even soft mist and my skin coats evenly. The scent is very mild and refreshing. As the packaging states ânothing smells better than soap and water cleanâ. It describes the scent very well! A light, refreshing, clean scent that is very soft. I also really love that it uses clean ingredients, is vegan, used with recycled material, and does not contain any animal derived ingredients. It is a product that I can truly feel good about using! Iâm not usually a fan of body oils because they generally leave my skin looking and feeling greasy. The Philosophy Pure Grace Luminous Body Oil is an exception, though. When applied, it absorbs well and doesnât leave your skin looking or feeling greasy. This oil behaves more like a lotion in my opinion. It has a nice light scent that isnât overpowering. According to the Philosophy site, the Pure Grace scent has a top note of water lily, a heart of leafy greens, and a base of musk. I normally donât care for musk, but in this scent itâs minute and leaves it smelling fresh and clean. The luminosity is small glitter pieces as opposed to just a shimmery liquid. This retails for $50, which seems a bit much for a body oil, but the bottle is a good size (120 mL/4 fl oz) and a little goes a long way. Bonus that the product is vegan, and the packaging is made of recycled materials and is also recyclable. *I received this item complimentary from Influenster for my honest review.*
First off, the scent. It's like a perfume oil sometimes but itâs not overpowering. It's the kind of scent that lingers delicately after the first hour of wear. Itâs potent scent is gone after the first hour and itâs a small scent later. Now, onto absorption and texture. This oil is impressive. It's not heavy or greasy at all, which is a big plus. It sinks into the skin effortlessly, almost like it's being absorbed on a molecular level. And the texture is smooth on my skin. It glides on like a dream, leaving my skin feeling soft and velvety.Hydration-wise, this oil is an OIL so it locks in moisture. It makes application a breeze and ensures you get just the right amount of product every time.In summary, the Philosophy Pure Grace Luminous Body Oil is a winner in my book. It's got everything you could want in a body oil â a beautiful scent, lightweight texture, powerful hydration, and chic packaging. It's like a little slice of luxury in a bottle, and I can't get enough of it.
