Pioneer DJ PLX-500 High-Torque Direct Drive Turntable - White

Fantastic product, great sound quality, reasonably easy to use. As this was my first turntable purchase in MANY years, there was rather a learning curve, and on reflection I probably should have started with a more basic/automated unit (no automatic return, etc) - but that is on ME. The product itself arrived in perfect condition, and is filling our house with that beautiful, warm, vinyl sound. Make sure you have awesome speakers - we are using some Yamaha HS8 Studio monitors, and the sound is sublime.

Designed for DJs, but great for home audio use too

Almost identical spec to cheaper alternatives, but much better design and construction. All controls feel solid and reliable. This is not a bad cartridge, but the nominal tracking weight is a bit high (3.5g). Excellent service and great price from these guys and very well packed parcel. Always kept informed of delivery details.The turntable is outstanding value for money. A little set up is required but full instructions with pictures are included. Everything you need, including connecting cables is in the box. My other turntable cost double the price of this one and if anything this one is better. Cannot fault in any way, highly recommended.GS, UK.

Great price, service and turntable!

This is the first turntable I've purchased in 30 years. Aftee lots of research and talking to friends in the industry I decided on the Pioneer PLX-500 and am seriously impressed, its just as good as the ancient SL1200 I used to run BITD!Excellent construction, weight inspires confidence in the build quality. Great sound after set up and am.i am 100% back to my vinyl. Even 30 year old white labels bought in Soho way back when sound fantastic.Running this with my Kef Q500s and 1980s Marantz amp, I couldn't be happier.This PLX-500 will soon be joined by another and a mixer, again, the first in years.The service and delivery from Richer Sounds was excellent, 100% recommended!

Great turntables for the price point

I use two of these along with an Allen & Health Xone:23 and am able to mix, beat-match (in other words, be a DJ) as well as can be expected. They actually sound great, and it's easy to balance the arm/needle using the same features you would on Technics for making sure everything hits correctly when you drop the needle on the record. ;)I noticed that some people had issues with the START/STOP button not working, and that did happen to me once when I first got the equipment. After I hit the button a few times rapidly, it worked again no problem and has never happened again.

Hey everyone, I received my new PLX - 500 and it arrived just a few days later. I was so happy when I came and couldn’t wait to get it plugged in when I realised it had a European plug!! Gutted........ not to worry the legends at DV popped a Uk plug adapter in the box so don’t panic like I did 🤣🤣 all in all, good service and I’ll be using these guys again I’m sure at some point.I would just like to explain why I’ve put the rating down from professional use to semi professional use....... I’m just a beginner really, but it is sensitive and the slightest knock can make the track jump. An example, if you put you phone down to hard next to the turntable this can make the track jump! Pioneer DJ PLX-500K. Great Purchase

Bought this to replace my ancient turn table. What a great purchase. Arrived on time in a huge box all the way from Germany. setup took a little time, but you'd expect that from a quality product. Sounds great. Really pleased with my purchase.

Small speakers but they pack a punch

The only monitor speakers I can compare these Pioneers to are the Tanoy 402 Reveal. The Pioneers deliver a really nice and warm sound with lots of definition in the mid to high range, even the lower frequencies can be hear nicely down to about 50 Hertz. Anything below about 30 Hertz starts to rumble and just becomes inaudible. Great quality speakers for the price. I'm a music producer and I used to own the Tannoys mentioned above, they were ok but the bass response was nowhere near as good as the Pioneers. The Tannoys also lacked some clarity in the high end frequencies. I managed to get around this by plugging the 3.5mm jack from the speakers into the headphone input on the interface. Other than that these speakers are great, quality design, really nice sound and very easy to setup. I highly recommend this if you're looking for something within a 200 budget. If you want to spend more then I'd go for the Yamaha HS8's, they're hands down one of the best moniter speakers on the market. Cheers

The turntable arrived on time and in good condition. Met all my expectations except that the sound plays lower on my new Onkyo TXNR 6100 - 100-watt receiver.If you compare the Digital streaming of music or CD to the turntable even after all the tweaks of using a protractor and VTA for calibration it plays lower. Yes, I've checkedall my cables and used gold tips.It's not the cables but it could be the low-end cartridge that came with the turntable. I also tried swapping the RCA cable from the Turntable preamp to the receiver preamp with the same results. It likely needs an upgrade to a better cartridge.Overall, the turntable sounds good and I'm happy to that extent. I would recommend the table but think about getting a better cartridge.
