My son loves this helmet. He took a hard fall and needed to replace his helmet. POC held true to their crash replacement plan and had exceptional customer service. 3 of my teen boys all have this helmet and wouldn’t even consider a different one. Comfortable, breathable and now we know it works since a failed backflip on his bike resulted in only a minor concussion. Well done, POC.

I bought a helmet about 10 years ago and used it at a minimum of a couple times a week. The plastic that holds the adjustment in the back failed and it wasn't possible to fix, so I emailed them and told them the situation, not really expecting anything but it was in my opinion a manufacturing issue. But I had been using it for many years. I sent them pictures and they didn't have to but they offered me a discount for my next purchase and considering how many years I had it and how well it fit, I had to get another one but I upgraded and they still let me apply the discount! Now I'm riding with what I feel is the best helmet money can buy and I'm a happy customer for life!

I am a huge fan of POC helmets for XC, road, and gravel. So when the first flow trail system in Arizona opened it was time to for a new helmet in case I run out of talent. The Tectal looks great and fits perfectly! The fit and MIPS give me confidence that it won’t let me down if I need it. The light weight and visor are welcome additions when banging through the rocks in bright sunshine!

Solid helmet. I bought this in medium. I wish they had this style in M/L. Love the design. Fit is good. A little narrow on the sides when using a beanie underneath for cold weather. Other than that the fit is comfortable. This is the third POC helmet I've purchased. It does fit different than the Kortal, which comes with in-between sizes. Would like to see "green" become a standard color. Other than that, this helmet is a must.
Tried on both the Tectal and Kortal. Kortal gave strange pressure points on the sides of my head while Tectal did not. Tectal also felt like it was higher quality. Straps felt thicker, hardware looked more stout, adjustment knob on the back was more substantial. Overall, I think I'm pretty happy with the Tectal. We'll see if it holds up long-term and if it's comfortable on longer rides as we get into the season.
Most helmets are made to put ON your head, the Tectal Race MIPS (with or without NFC) are made to put your head IN: this results in maximum protection. Wearing this kind of helmet gives you a safe feeling. I wore the helmet during my 31 days of travel by MTB from Bruges to Rome (April & May 2022). Especially in Italy, where temperature rised to 31° while cycling in plain sun, the helmet didn't bother me at all. Very good ventilation and the no problems at all with increased pressure of the helmet on certain points of my head. The helmet isn't cheap at all, but you only have one head! After 4 years without accidents, I decided to by the Tectal Race MIPS NFC: visibility on the back is improved (fluo orange instead of black). I regret the lowest position of the adjustable visor doesn't allow me to prevent the upcoming or downgoing sun to shine in my eyes...(however the McGyver solution did).
This helmet has no low friction slip plane or any slip plane liner at all. I don't know how thishelmet can be considered a MIPS helmet with a rigid liner. The Giro Spherical can do this because it hasa sperical interface integrated in the shell but POC does not have that technology either. POC does notexplain how their MIPS system works to any detail either the way other manufacturers do. I would nottrust this helmet unless POC can explain how their invisible technology works. I do love the fit and coverageof this helmet and the straps work well too.
This helmet did exactly what it was supposed to do. I had the worst mountain bike crash of my life 3 days ago. I was airlifted to my local hospital with multiple broken bones, potential spine/neck injury, and a punctured lung. I did lose consciousness for some period. The helmet breaking upon impact helped displace the force and likely saved my life. I only had to get 3 staples in my head. Will purchase this helmet again when I'm healed and ready to get back on the trail. Wish I could attach a photo of the helmet that saved me.
This bike helmet arrived in pristine condition, and has performed even better than it looks. Even though I am (primarily) a road biker, I appreciate the extra coverage, especially at the back of the head, and the high-visibility orange (this should be standard on all POC helmets, IMHO!). My favorite feature is the adjustable peak, which keeps the sun (and the tree branches) out my eyes, no matter where it is on the horizon. Overall, it fits well with minimum adjustment and is well-ventilated. Bravo!
I never got tot try this on before ordering it and was pleased with the fit vs the Kortal for my more oval shaped head. I really fits true to size and is slightly snugger than the corresponding Smith and Giro helmets but it’s true as they advertise a 58 not 59cm . the angle and construction of the straps and buckle placement seem really well considered and was an immediate improvement over my last helmet it just feels solid but not constraining . the overall quality appears to be excellent and a few hundred miles in so far no issues ive noticed. my only small gripes an thus not 5 star is its so snug there is no clearance room for certain of my favorite glasses. and i wish the bottom of the visor was a matte black or grey to help keep the glare down as its so glossy ... MoreI never got tot try this on before ordering it and was pleased with the fit vs the Kortal for my more oval shaped head.
