Overall:Pros: a beautifully finished guitar, feels light and balanced, excellent build quality, comfortable neck that is wide and thin with a very smooth satin finish, perfectly beveled and tapered frets, very playable guitar that stays in tune.Cons: the pickups suck, luckily this is an easy fix. I installed a set of Duncan JB/Jazz pickups that were worth every Penny. They really brought this guitar to life. SE bridge does hold its tuning well but in my opinion dont ring out as nicely as the older version that had a brass block, still acceptable. NO CASE. This is my real beef with PRS on this guitar. At a nearly $2200 price point a gig bag is totally unacceptable to me.Only a fool would leave their house with this guitar in a gig bag. They dropped the ball on this ... It sounds like I am being negative on this guitar but I am just trying to be truthful, but in fact I actually LOVE, this guitar. In the short time I have had it, it is quickly becoming my go to favorite guitar.

My first choice was the PRS SE Hollowbody II Piezo, but it was backordered and on extended delay. So, I chose this guitar instead because it is a USA-made PRS and it has the coil-split. Overall. I am glad I got this guitar instead because I believe that the coil-split is a more useful feature than the piezo. The 85/15 pickups sound very beautiful and clean and give this guitar a unique voice that sits perfectly between my SG and my Strat. The coil splitting gives this guitar a wide variety of sounds and I am still exploring all of the possibilities. I got the whale-blue finish and it looks awesome, as expected with PRS. The setup was great out of the box, but I did do a very slight tweak to the truss rod. The neck feels great and the fretwork is perfect. The only ... Beauty of a guitar. Satin thin neck profile is addictive to play on. All the pickup positions are useful...yes including the bridge. Ability to split the pickups to get that fender twang is there as well. All with the beautiful sustain and airiness that a semi-hollow allows while being real light. My only con is the lack of a hard case. The gig bag is nice and well padded. I have a core 24 with the $200 PRS hard case. I tried this CE in the same case and it actually rocks a little. My guess is that's why they didn't bother with selling it with this case. Overall this guitar is amazing...and I'll say a better value than a standard core 24. Plenty of color options as well. I recommend keeping an eye out on special color editions specific to vendors/dealers that PRS is ... MoreBeauty of a guitar. Satin thin neck profile is addictive to play on. If you're on the fence between this guitar and other PRS semi or full hollwbodies...buy this one. You won't regret it and won't feel like any corners were cut...like many SE's will feel with cheaper nuts, knobs, pickups, and non locking tuners. You'll save thousands compared to core series and above.

I've been a dedicated Strat and LP player for my whole life. I've been reading and watching videos about various PRS models for a few weeks and developed a hankering for one. I had already pre-ordered the newly released S2 McCarty 594 but am several months away from that shipping out. Visited my local GC to see what they had in stock. In reality, the CE 24 was the only American model I could afford. I tried it and loved it immediately. Fantastic tones, both clean and with overdrive. Volume and Tone controls adjust sound very gradually...no SUDDEN change in volume or tone as in some instruments. The maple top (i bought the gray-black) is stunning (my wife even loves it!). The satin neck feels amazing and is already starting to feel even more slick after a few days of ... MoreI've been a dedicated Strat and LP player for my whole life. The satin neck feels amazing and is already starting to feel even more slick after a few days of playing it. Out of the box, the action was a bit high and the onsite GC tech adjusted it and it plays perfectly. Intonation spot on. I'm not a big whammy bar fan and would have preferred a hard tail, however this guitar sounds great even with strat-like block and springs. My only disappointment was that this $2K guitar comes with a gig bag rather than a hard case..I think PRS needs to re-think that! I'm very happy with this guitar and can't wait for my next gig. Highly recommend
I have been a Les Paul player for almost 30 years, but I always remembered an old acquaintance's pre-factory PRS that I played once decades ago. I had always wanted one, but could never afford it. I'm getting older (and the Paul is getting heavier), and I finally ponied up and bought an S2 on sale a couple of years ago; I was pretty impressed. I still wanted but couldn't afford the core 24. I figured this was the next best thing. I picked up a scratch-and-dent CE-24, which was the best I could do. Not only do I not feel like I am "settling." It surpassed my expectations. I currently have seven electrics, but this is my new #1. I am now primarily a PRS player all of a sudden. The best reason to get a PRS is the playability of the neck, and my CE practically plays ... I currently have seven electrics, but this is my new #1. I am now primarily a PRS player all of a sudden. The best reason to get a PRS is the playability of the neck, and my CE practically plays itself. The unlacquered neck actually makes it feel even better. The build and pickup quality are clearly better than the S2 (which is already good). For less than the cost of a new LP studio and about the cost of an American Pro Strat, I got a beautiful guitar that I prefer to either. It doesn't have the signature tone of the LP or the strat, but in return I got a tonally versatile guitar that actually stays in tune, that doesn't bind the G-string at the nut, that has pickups that don't screech or turn overdriven chords to mud, that is perfectly balanced, that doesn't break my back (or have annoying neck-dive), that isn't hollowed out, that has absolutely no dead frets, that actually allows access to the upper frets, that never buzzes, that feels comfortable sitting or standing, that has a tremolo that actually works, that has locking tuners and no annoying string-trees, that played perfectly out of the box, and that I actually felt comfortable ordering online, even blemished, because of PRS's QC. In other words, it does what all guitars should, but usually don't. I would have liked a hard case, but that's the only negative. I still love my other guitars, but I'm glad I finally graduated to one of these.
Absolutely love the looks, feel and sound of this instrument. The semi hollow body provides impressive weight relief. Exactly what I was looking for. Couldn't possibly be happier with the guitar itself! This is guitar #7 that I've purchased from GC over the years, and probably the last. Not available for in-store pickup, so it was delivered to my house. As with most new guitars, it needs a little tweaking on the setup. Unbelievably, GC charges $80 to do this on the guitar I just purchased from them! Why in the world wouldn't they leverage their retail store locations to compete with Sweetwater, et al by providing this service free of charge?Guitars from SW come set up and fully inspected. You pay extra for that with GC. Such a departure from the customer oriented ... MoreAbsolutely love the looks, feel and sound of this instrument. This is my second CE and my third PRS. I also own a Custom 22 core model from 2019 and I previously owned a late 90's CE. Upon first inspection I was disappointed by the newer CE changes. The previous CE models were very similar to the core models (IE: Arch top, hardware, electronics) only with a bolt on neck. The new CE model felt like it was lower cost with the slimmer body, SE hardware but still gave you the 85/15 set. However!! once you sit down with one you'll see they were going for a different player experience not a lower production cost. The Slimmer body means less weight. The core models are amazing but kind of uncomfortable to sit down with because of the body weight. The CE melds with your body. It is hands down the most comfortable PRS I have played. ... Now the sound does change a little between the two because of the lower mass but it is by no means bad.I am a Metal player by trade but when I plugged this into my Mesa Triple Rect. I found myself zoning out on blues riffs for hours. This guitar is a dream to play, buttery mids, tight lows and sweet highs. The neck just melts to your hands without any issues.I will certainly be holding on to this one for many, many, years.
I bought this guitar from GC one year ago. The workmanship is excellent and it does not hum or buzz. This guitar has its own thing going on and is basically a cross between a Fender and Gibson. It does not stay in tune as well as my Fenders under heavy tremolo use, but that is something I have learned to live with. It likes my Fender Tweed Deluxe or my PRS MT-15 into a 1960AX 412. For people who don't like the pickups, try a different amp before you change anything on this guitar. This guitar can take the place of several others for live performances and it is beautiful to boot. Not cheap, but highly recommended new or used. The louder you play it the better it sounds.
Personally, I think the CE series strikes a perfect balance in price point between the S2 and Core models and its awesome to be able to get my hands on fully American made semi-hollow PRS. I traded in an S2 Custom 24 for this and I'm very happen with that decision. The S2 I had was a great instrument itself, but the electronics were not all that great and general build quality was just a tick below top end. The CE 24 electronics thus far are perfect for me (no noisy pots, no buzz when coil split and no excessive switching noise for the push pull coil split or pickup selector). I personally don't like the pickup selector location, but it's a minor adjustment that I'm willing to make for such a great guitar. The tone is definitely on the brighter side due to the ... I personally don't like the pickup selector location, but it's a minor adjustment that I'm willing to make for such a great guitar. The tone is definitely on the brighter side due to the bolt-on neck and steel bridge, but without ever really sounding harsh. As with all PRS guitars, it responds well to adjustments in the volume and tone knobs and cleans up nicely when rolled back. When pushing the gain really hard, there is always going to be some feedback with a semi-hollow, but with quality woods like the CE24 uses, you can get an amazing warm resonant feedback that you can control with the tremolo with great precision. The pickups are definitely very balanced and modern voiced, so don't expect a vintage PAF character from them. I find myself using this guitar along with an S2 Singlecut and between the two, I can get all the sounds I'm looking for.The soft case is durable and has really nice padding, but for almost $2500 it should really come with a hard case.
I've been searching for "the one" for 20 years. There's no such thing as a perfect guitar. It's a mythical & elusive fantasy. I learned that the hard way. However, the PRS CE24 I picked up is as close to perfect as I've ever experienced & I've had a LOT of guitars. Stunning & precise craftsmanship. Unbelievable pickups & tones on tap. Tremolo returns to pitch. Resonates & rings like a bell acoustically. Action set 4/64-5/64 & zero buzz or fret out anywhere. Sounds like I wish a Strat would sound. All the edge & bite but a much broader, fuller sound without the anemic ice pick-y shrillness. The day I purchased it I also test drove a USA Ultra Strat & a LP Special in TV yellow just to see how the "big guys" were doin these days & guess what...Gibson QC issues are ... Though I actually liked the Special for what it was, neither held a dim candle to the PRS. Thanks big guys, you made it an easy choice. I cannot emphasize enough how truly special, unique & well crafted the CE24 is. PRS's dedication to quality is inspiring & much appreciated by this guy right here. Can't thank you enough for putting an end to my decades long crusade. I finally found the one they're gonna bury me with.
