Thank You AMS for making buying this wonderful guitar easier. The 12 payment plan made this purchase a no brainer. Now, on to the guitar. This guitar sounds and plays fantastic. I own an S2 McCarty and an S2 custom 22 semi hollow body. They are both great guitars that play and sound fantastic but my new CE is definitely a step up for only about $250. This CE has amazing clarity and note definition. The tone is a little beefier than a Strat but a little brighter than a Les Paul. I own 4 American Strats and 2 Gibson Les Pauls but I prefer my CE hands down. PRS workmanship is impeccable. Fit and finish and playability are 2nd to none. The Blue Matteo finish is gorgeous! Wonderful instrument. The fit and finish is flawless and the design and paint is beautiful. The guitar was setup really well and no adjustments were needed. Other guitars I have bought for around $1,000 have all required upgrades or work to eliminate string buzzing. The legendary PRS quality is here. This guitar produces a lot of clear sounds and the coil tapping does produce an authentic single coil sound. The CE 24 is now made with a Nitro finish over CAB for the body. The pickups are TCI tuned and the neck is a satin Nitro that feels great. This is my new favorite guitar. Make sure you use a Nitro safe stand.

This is a beautiful guitar and if it were 1000$ it would be well worth it. For 2300$ though I would like to have some inlays that don't look like cheap plastic and not have fret buzz. The buzz could be fixed with a set up but for 2300$ I feel like it should come set up. On the back the slots for the cover plates are not routed so they just sit on top. Not a deal breaker but this does make it look a little incomplete. Overall it sounds great minus the fret buzz. I'd say no better than a se model and not worth the extra money unless you just want a bolt on neck. I prefer bolt on or through necks which is why I bought the ce but I plan to return it and either get an ernie ball music man or an American strat.

Purchased a PRS CE 24. You would think after spending $2400 after tax that this guitar would feel solid especially since made in the USA. I guess made in USA means nothing since previous version felt solid and sounded great. These pickups had awful humming sound, sounded weak, and the Bridge/whammy bar was trash. Guitar didn't hold tune and felt cheap. It's sad because previously PRS felt amazing and sounded great. Companies are making money making lighter guitars, sacrificing hardware for the "players experience". Yes my Gibson and ESP are heavy but made in USA meant that you got the best quality and sound. Not anymore unfortunately.
I've been a dedicated Strat and LP player for my whole life. I've been reading and watching videos about various PRS models for a few weeks and developed a hankering for one. I had already pre-ordered the newly released S2 McCarty 594 but am several months away from that shipping out. Visited my local GC to see what they had in stock. In reality, the CE 24 was the only American model I could afford. I tried it and loved it immediately. Fantastic tones, both clean and with overdrive. Volume and Tone controls adjust sound very gradually...no SUDDEN change in volume or tone as in some instruments. The maple top (i bought the gray-black) is stunning (my wife even loves it!). The satin neck feels amazing and is already starting to feel even more slick after a few days of playing it. Out of the box, the action was a bit high and the onsite GC tech adjusted it and it plays perfectly. Intonation spot on. I'm not a big whammy bar fan and would have preferred a hard tail, however this guitar sounds great even with strat-like block and springs. My only disappointment was that this $2K guitar comes with a gig bag rather than a hard case..I think PRS needs to re-think that! I'm very happy with this guitar and can't wait for my next gig. Highly recommend
Overall:The first guitar I bought myself was a PRS SE Custom 24, it was an amazing guitar especially for a beginner. As I played more I found that I didn't like the finished neck, the fret work wasn't as good as it could be and the pickups weren't the tone I wanted. So I started looking around. A friend of mine showed me his PRS CE and after playing it I was sold. His was the matte black, but when I went on zZounds I saw several colorways that I liked. A few of them had pictures of the actual guitar, so I picked one that had beautiful figuring. The neck, fretwork, and setup are all amazing. This guitar played perfect right out of the box. Absolutely love the looks, feel and sound of this instrument. The semi hollow body provides impressive weight relief. Exactly what I was looking for. Couldn't possibly be happier with the guitar itself! This is guitar #7 that I've purchased from GC over the years, and probably the last. Not available for in-store pickup, so it was delivered to my house. As with most new guitars, it needs a little tweaking on the setup. Unbelievably, GC charges $80 to do this on the guitar I just purchased from them! Why in the world wouldn't they leverage their retail store locations to compete with Sweetwater, et al by providing this service free of charge?Guitars from SW come set up and fully inspected. You pay extra for that with GC. Such a departure from the customer oriented ... MoreAbsolutely love the looks, feel and sound of this instrument. This is my second CE and my third PRS. I also own a Custom 22 core model from 2019 and I previously owned a late 90's CE. Upon first inspection I was disappointed by the newer CE changes. The previous CE models were very similar to the core models (IE: Arch top, hardware, electronics) only with a bolt on neck. The new CE model felt like it was lower cost with the slimmer body, SE hardware but still gave you the 85/15 set. However!! once you sit down with one you'll see they were going for a different player experience not a lower production cost. The Slimmer body means less weight. The core models are amazing but kind of uncomfortable to sit down with because of the body weight. The CE melds with your body. It is hands down the most comfortable PRS I have played. ... Now the sound does change a little between the two because of the lower mass but it is by no means bad.I am a Metal player by trade but when I plugged this into my Mesa Triple Rect. I found myself zoning out on blues riffs for hours. This guitar is a dream to play, buttery mids, tight lows and sweet highs. The neck just melts to your hands without any issues.I will certainly be holding on to this one for many, many, years.
Personally, I think the CE series strikes a perfect balance in price point between the S2 and Core models and its awesome to be able to get my hands on fully American made semi-hollow PRS. I traded in an S2 Custom 24 for this and I'm very happen with that decision. The S2 I had was a great instrument itself, but the electronics were not all that great and general build quality was just a tick below top end. The CE 24 electronics thus far are perfect for me (no noisy pots, no buzz when coil split and no excessive switching noise for the push pull coil split or pickup selector). I personally don't like the pickup selector location, but it's a minor adjustment that I'm willing to make for such a great guitar. The tone is definitely on the brighter side due to the ... I personally don't like the pickup selector location, but it's a minor adjustment that I'm willing to make for such a great guitar. The tone is definitely on the brighter side due to the bolt-on neck and steel bridge, but without ever really sounding harsh. As with all PRS guitars, it responds well to adjustments in the volume and tone knobs and cleans up nicely when rolled back. When pushing the gain really hard, there is always going to be some feedback with a semi-hollow, but with quality woods like the CE24 uses, you can get an amazing warm resonant feedback that you can control with the tremolo with great precision. The pickups are definitely very balanced and modern voiced, so don't expect a vintage PAF character from them. I find myself using this guitar along with an S2 Singlecut and between the two, I can get all the sounds I'm looking for.The soft case is durable and has really nice padding, but for almost $2500 it should really come with a hard case.
I own a SE model I bought about 15 years ago and have always been intrigued by the American models. With the 36 month credit I had the opportunity to order one. I held my breath when ordering a CE24 since I had a bad experience with another brand sent from another store. The only negative outlook was there were very few colors and stock to choose from. The wait time was 6 months. It came and turned out to be perfect. Except no vibrato arm. The playing ability, craftsmanship, sound quality is unmatched by very few instuments. Well worth the money, if not just to stand back and admire the beauty of a pure quality guitar!!
