The Pro 500 is not only visually appealing but also user-friendly. It features a large cup tray that is completely removable, making it easy and convenient to fill the water tank. There's no need to clear away cups. The nostalgic rotary valves are wear-free thanks to a spring pull technique, preventing any over-rotation. The Pro 500 is equipped with the high-quality, solid E61 brew group, which has a total weight of 4.5 kg. The "No-burn" steam and hot water pipes ensure that only the steam and hot water nozzle get hot. Additionally, the steam wand is easier to clean as milk hardly sticks to it. The dual circuit system allows for simultaneous espresso preparation and the dispensing of steam or hot water. The thermosyphon system uses fresh water from the tank for espresso preparation instead of boiler water. Pure enjoyment.

TLDR: The Profitec Pro 500 pid has incredible quality and fit/finish. Well engineered hx system that has been very temp stable; steaming is perfectly adequate with zero down time, great for entertaining. Very consistent espresso.I find in this price range (this machine being at the top of it) comes with compromise. Either you get an entry level double boiler, or a good single boiler/hx system. I took advantage of free grinder deal that made this purchase a “no brainer” and have no regrets. The fit and finish/overall build quality is top notch, best in class. Having an e61 group head, fully heating up takes a good half hour to bring the group head up to temperature; e61’s are also well known with lots of knowledge base and parts and modifications available. Large tray on top has lots of space to keep cups warm, and the water reservoir feels like a decent size. Steaming is where it leaves a little room for improvement imo; its steam is more powerful and way more dry than my previous breville barista pro, however with the two-hole steam tip I’m finding getting good texture with non dairy a bit more challenging. Briefly tested a 4-hole tip, and while pressure drops really quick and boiler temperature takes a hit, it does steam milk really quickly with great texture, even non dairy. I will have to try out the two different tips more in the future. The PID being buried behind the drip tray is less than ideal, mostly I would like to be able to use the built in shot timer, but you can’t see it when the tray is installed.Overall I haven’t pulled a shot and steamed at the same time, however being able to do either back to back without any waiting is a big bonus, especially when serving guests (just keep the water tank topped up!) I'm very happy with my purchase, makes excellent and repeatable espresso and milk drinks. Finally the quick steam valves are a very nice touch, just a flick on or a flick off, no turning taps!

This machine was a huge upgrade from my Rancilio Silvia. My first use was a bit disappointing as the pump gauge wasn’t working out of the box. But Idrinkcoffees great customer service helped me troubleshoot a few things and I ended up replacing the gauge myself with a new one they sent me.The machine is now working great, looks fantastic, and is very consistent. The quick steam is probably one of my favorite features. One quick movement and you have full steaming power.I’m excited to continue to perfect my shots with it, and enjoy some fantastic coffee day in and day out.

I come from a Breville Barista Express. This is such an upgrade. I hard a hard time adapting to the power at firsr, but now that I understand it, I just love it. The steam power is great, I can make great microfoam. I also love the PID. The lever allowers for nice manual pre infusion making great and sweet espressos! Nice build quality too!Buy if you can!

After using an appliance grade machine for the last 4 years it was time to step-up to a pro-sumer level. I was torn between the Pro 500 and a Rocket machine, but the recent sale on the Pro 500 was what really made me pull the trigger and I could not be happier with the decision. Such high quality build materials this machine has completely elevated my coffee experience.I wasn't sure about the quicksteam when I placed the order as I preferred the aesthetic of knobs, BUT after using the quicksteam for a week now I don't think I'd have it any other way, it's just so easy to use and keeps a hand free.Getting all this for phenomenal sale price + no tax + free shipping + an impressive barista kit = a no brainer!
This machine was won in a Fall contest with Idrinkcoffee (thanks!!!).I've now had it for 3 weeks. It is replacing my previous espresso machine, which somewhat ironically was a Profitec pro 300 (dual boiler). It posed an interesting conundrum: which machine to keep? Which one is better suited for my needs?I've now been playing with the 500 for a long enough time to get acquainted, and decided to keep it as my main espresso maker. The following observations are somewhat related to upgrading and comparing from the Pro 300.Things I like:+ Sturdy construction+ Pressure gauges for both steam and grouphead+ Ability to easily adjust pressure setting for the grouphead+ Lots of steam power+ Consistent results with back-to-back shotsThings I like less:- Electronic ... MoreThis machine was won in a Fall contest with Idrinkcoffee (thanks!!!).I've now had it for 3 weeks. And while the Pro 500 takes up more counter space, it also gives the machine a solid look.Overall, the 500 feels like a small upgrade from the Pro 300. The 300 is a great compact machine that heats up fast. But at this point in my coffee journey, I like that the 500 offers more potential for customization: playing around with grouphead pressure, possibility of adding a pre-infusion system on the E61, etc.
As usual for Profitec this unit is beautifully made and the joystick valves on the Quicksteam version are a nice touch. What really surprised me was the temperature stability of the E61 group. Previously I had a conventional Heat Exchanger machine with a pressurestat. My espresso shots have been much more consistent with the Pro 500.It's not hard to see why this machine has remained so popular over the years.
I returned downunder in November 2017 and discovered that Aussies love their espresso. No one orders coffee, it is long black, flat white and other wonderful choices. I was hooked. I started with a Breville Oracle in 2018 but underwhelmed with performance. A ton of reviews later, I picked Profitec which has many great reviews. It came nicely packaged in a black box but impressed that it was wrapped in a black storage bag. It is a well built unit from their factory in Germany. The setup was easy but I am on a learning curve to pull the perfect shot. It is a fully manual which I like - total control over the steaming and group head down to the grind. My first machine ever and I love it! I've been reading about these "pro-sumer" machines for years but never pulled the trigger. I went from a Delonghi BCO 430 / KG89 grinder to both the Nespresso Original and Vertuo machines. This changed the game. My wife was intimidated at first but now she loves using it! Was looking at the Appartamento vs this and I went with this one just cause of the PID and extra gauge plus James Hoffman's recommendation. Def excited to continue this espresso learning journey! Thanks for the great deals on Boxing day IDC!
After having the best cup of coffee of my life at my buddy Smitty's place, I asked him what the secret to his brew was. "Oh I went down the rabbit hole with espresso machines" he tells me. He sends me a some links and I end up looking at the Profitec 500. It took me a while to reconcile the price, but eventually I came around and was ready to commit. Now, I can't imagine life without it, every brew is spot on. I wish had done it earlier. If you are on the fence, hesitate no longer and take the plunge, you won't regret it.
My first real espresso machine and I’m very happy with it after two weeks of pulling shots nonstop. A steep learning curve, but with this machine (and eureka specialita grinder) I have full control for dialing in, setting temperatures, pressure and frothing. Fits perfectly on my countertop. Toolkit given with it during a sale and had everything I needed to get started too! The build quality is excellent too, although I did upgrade the portafilter to the ecm one as it felt better in my hands.
