I was reluctant to leave a review because everyone has already raved about this steamer but I thought I'd share a couple of the recipes I've discovered on my own. I absolutely love the steamer and use it every day.Note: The manual doesn't specify that the steamer is for cooking these things so you'll have to decide for yourself if you feel like experimenting. Assemble and Set on high for 20 mins. After the first 5 minutes of cooking, I stir and separate noodles, then cook for remaining 15 minutes without looking at it. Turn assembled steamer to the side and drain over sink. Drains kind of slowly but turns out perfect. (Works for penne, macaroni, anything... just consider your microwave and adjust cooking times to suit your needs). Can make enough for 2 adults.Dried beans (Yes!): I put 1c. of dried beans into steamer bowl, sort and rinse, fill with water and soak on counter for about 8 hours. (I've used kidney and garbanzo, both came out great.) Drain and refill with fresh water before cooking. I cook on high for 10 mins, turn to medium for 20 mins, after that I add spices, veggies, a handful of pasta or rice, roasted red pepper, a diced potato, vegan pepperoni, onion, ham or left over meats if you like that, anything, then continue to cook on medium for another 20 mins. (You may need to drain a little water to make room if you add a lot of veggies.) Test a bean or two at the end of the 2nd 20 mins. If still a tiny bit crunchy can do 10 more mins. Makes perfect soups. Or do 2 cups of beans (with no vegetables) for burritos or whatever you can think of. If you already love to cook, you are already coming up with your own recipes. heheI have noticed that when I put tomato-based products into the steamer it stains, a bit. And the inner lid can be a little hard to grasp when it's steaming hot and a little bit oily. (I use a folded paper towel to lift it at those times.)This really is the perfect product for my tiny apartment. I can make homemade meals from scratch without a stove. Absolutely love it. And the steam it makes while it cooks makes microwave cleaning as simple as running a paper towel around the interior. It's a wonder.I hope I helped if someone had a question about recipes. I'm going to try inserting a ramekin and using it to make a personal-sized lasagna or maybe a jumbo muffin. Where will your creativity take you?

It is a really great and convenient tool! It's easy to use and easy to wash. As an international student, this makes a very big difference because I get to make smaller quantities of rice and to be able to have it quickly. It easily fits in the fridge too, which is great!

I was happy to find a decent rice cooker because mine had broke; however, I didn't realize how small this cooker set was until I started making rice. I've been having to make less rice by default which is good for my health but not enough for feeding a family of four. I wish the store would've been more specific regarding the dimensions and lack of capacity when it comes to cooking rice. I do like that it's easy to clean and doesn't leave a weird rub that I see with my other plastic tubberwares/cookers that get heated. So far, I'm satisfied with the quality but not the quantity. Nonetheless, it's a good purchase for someone in need of a new rice cooker and also trying to have a healthy lifestyle or feeds less than four mouths.
I don’t understand the negative reviews. I have a nice electric rice cooker and have used it many times when making homemade dog food. The rice ALWAYS turns out mushy. I bought this in hopes of making better rice. I haven’t had a batch of mushy rice since. The rice turns out perfectly. And now I am using it to make rice dishes for myself. The only negative I have is when I tried to make a double batch the water boiled over onto the plate of my microwave, so I just do a single batch at a time using the provided measuring cup. I have used it about 6 or 7 times and no sign of melting like I’ve seen on other reviews. It’s easy, convenient, and time saving. It is easy to clean as well.
This replaces one that has served me well for decades. The easiest way to cook any type of rice. You can time your rice cooking to match when all your other meal inclusions will be ready, so you can't go wrong to have your meal synchronised ready to serve. I only replaced my old one because it was used so often and washed so often that the inside was starting to wear. An easy purchase and good price from everten.
So easy to use in the microwave, no mess, easy cleanup. Be sure to cook on 70% power; I forgot one time and it did splatter a little bit out the steam vents. It's small but makes plenty of rice for my husband and me. I didn't like the counter-top cookers because they tend to spray steam, and because the rice tends to stick even in the non-stick cookers. They also take up more storage space than this little thing.
I love this and have been using for years! I bought one at a garage sale for 25 cents! Rice for two is 1/2 cup rice, 2 1/2 cups water. Spray with Pam to prevent it from boiling over in microwave. 4 or 5 min on high, then 15 min on 50% power. Let set until mealtime ( about 15 min) . Fluff with fork. Best bargain I have ever gotten, and will definitely buy another if this one wears out.
This is my second cooker. My first was another popular retailer and that one cost me 9 times more for a very similar product. On the older, more expensive unit, one of the latches broke within a few uses. I made a mistake and thought I set my power selection at 7 which is correct but my microwave did not catch. I burning the unit and the content and had to throw it out. When I found this rice cooker I had to try it. Not only was I willing to pay more to ship it than the price of the unit I still saved 4 times the cost of the one I was replacing AND this unit makes perfect...PERFECT rice. Keep the measurement instructions and do not add any oils. Only water, rice and salt for a perfect recipe. I love this cooker. This microwave rice cooker works awesome. All you need to do is make sure you put enough water in the container before it goes into the microwave. All the pictures you see where the container is burned is because they did not put enough water in the container. I’ve use this for over a year and it works awesome. Follow the instructions!
