6.6 lbs. Super resonant. Big gorgeous voice. Better than the single cut equivalent I tried. Fantastic value. And gorgeous tops. Only niggle is that the nut out of factory is significantly high but otherwise, tremendous instrument.

This guitar was made to feel and sound similar to a late 50's LP with a PRS twist, and knocks it out of the park! The pickups sound very vintage, and the neck pickup is super creamy. Coil taps work great. I opened the back cavity, and it was perfectly routed. The electrical work was done very neatly; I have Gibsons that aren't soldered as well as this instrument. Neck is a tad bit thicker than 60's era but very comfy. It's pretty light but perfectly balanced as well. I changed the strings to 9's without having to touch the truss rod, and only had to intonate one saddle. For a guitar with a poly finish, the neck wasn't quite as sticky as I thought it would be, and it plays very comfortably. And the flame tops is as good as the pictures! great guitar. lots of fun
I've recently got into guitar I have 2 Squires, a Jaguar and a Jazz bass. But after watching countless how to's on YouTube. I saw a guitar with birds on the inlay! I thought this would make a great birthday gift. I began to do my research and got a lot of factual pros with few subjective cons. I was stuck between this and an S2 for $1,000 more dollars. The guys at Sam Ash steered me towards this McCarty and allowed me to play it at the shop. It's got just the right mix of Gibson and Fender. Super light and is visually enticing. I'm no pro by any means yet but this piece of gear keeps me steady on my journey. I love to pick this guitar up and hear it sing.
It’s everything that I was hoping it would be - sounds great, looks fantastic, well set up, and at a heart price.
Good looks and a killer sound.... I did swap out the volume and tone knobs for a set that was a little sexier. Also restrung with 9s and wrapped the tailpiece. So playable!
VERY nice guitar, but it's set up like a bag of nails. I do want to keep it, so I'll need to take it to a guitar tech. Shame PMT don't check such things first, as the cost of the setup will not make it such a competitive buy.
Bang for buck this is the best constructed guitar I’ve played for a long time - it’s up there with my Gibsons
There are some arguments circulating on youtube that this may be the best guitar PRS has ever made. I will say that argument has a lot going for it. First off this PRS is nearly identical to the S2 and Core models sharing a lot of the same parts. Of course those models are flawless museum pieces, but this here is the one you would want to play and take to gigs & practice, etc at a fraction of the price. The shortened scale, 24.594", gives this a nice warm and buttery sound & playing feel, better than all the other PRS guitars in my opinion, this combined with the vintage style "low turn" pickups (which sound phenomenal by the way) really help make this guitar sound incredible. Another thing I noticed is this model has the pearl bird inlays, they look much better to ... MoreThere are some arguments circulating on youtube that this may be the best guitar PRS has ever made. Another thing I noticed is this model has the pearl bird inlays, they look much better to me than the plain white plastic inlays on the more expensive S2 model, another win for this model in my opinion. Now playing this guitar I noticed two things immediately, the neck is really fat, it's not a problem but just know, it's fat like 50's Gibson style fat, that could be a deal breaker for some or maybe a preference for others. One thing I really love is when you grab a guitar off the shelf and strum it when it's not plugged in and you can hear and feel the strings singing, it's really, really nice. It just plays so well, the build quality here is exceptional for the price range. Truly. I expected it to be great, but wow, it's better than I expected. Finally, seeing the guitar in-person I noticed the color seems a bit darker blue, only slightly, but I prefer this darker color as the blue fade in pictures comes across a touch light to me, so that's nice. Again, just my opinion and this may vary from build to build. Extra credit is the PRS gig bag. It's a nice touch and I wish other manufacturers would do the same.
