I received this item in the second to last week of December 2021 and since then, have been using the item on my hair close to daily. My hair type is roughly thin or fine in texture. I would describe it as somewhere between straight and slightly wavy or so depending on whether it is air/naturally or instead, heat dried or styled. I feel that overall, this is an item that worked very well for my hair type consistently and so if you have a similar hair type to mine, I would feel comfortable recommending this product in terms of overall quality I have seen demonstrated by results on my own hair over time. I do not feel it did much to either enhance or change my hair type or shape, which was not particularly my goal with using this item in any case, so that is something ... MoreI received this item in the second to last week of December 2021 and since then, have been using the item on my hair close to daily. I do not feel it did much to either enhance or change my hair type or shape, which was not particularly my goal with using this item in any case, so that is something you may wish to keep in mind if it is a goal that is comparatively more important to you. I did feel it worked very well in terms of cleansing my hair thoroughly without over drying it. I would describe myself as having 'combination hair' (think of in comparison, combination skin), in the sense that my hair is generally regular to oily near the roots to mid length throughout the day and increasingly so throughout the day til cleansed, yet drier and more brittle and prone to breakage near the tips or ends. This is a product that I truly feel worked well for all areas of my hair each time I have used it so far. I will note that I would strongly suggest when using this product, make sure that you have taken care to thoroughly work the product into your hair; for me it has by far worked best for me to leave it in my hair for a minute or so and *then* rinse (as opposed to rinsing immediately). Provided you follow this one small suggestion, I feel this is a product that is likely to work well for you if you have a similar to myself. I will mention as well that my hair is currently bleached and repeatedly color treated and while this item did not necessarily prolong the longevity of my hair color, it equally did not deteriorate my color rapidly. Again, in terms of overall quality, this is a product I would feel happy and nonhesitant to recommend to others with a similar current hair situation and qualities.

I have fine naturally curly hair that I usually straighten and it’s always silky soft. My daughter (10 years old) loves when I use Pureology on her since her hair is very oily, straight and thick, it cleans her hair the best. My favorite is this Pureology volume in the pink bottle. My hair has never felt cleaner, lightweight and fluffy but not frizzy. It still keeps the moisture in your scalp, without weighing it down. You won’t regret it. Buy the travel size kits to try out different ones, that’s what I do. Then you don’t spend a lot, they all are great. The only that I didn’t like is the one for blonde hair in yellow bottles.

I tried this for the first time and I really don't know how everyone hyped this up. The shampoo of this line is overwhelming with the lavender scent (not sure if it's actually that but that's what the smell is close to) but it made my hair fall out, in chunks by day 4 and the conditioner of this line has an overwhelming scent of menthol. It burned my head too much and after the rinsing of the hair from the conditioner, more hair fell out. you can not get the menthol smell out of your hair no matter how many times you try and rinse it out. I have blonde medium thick hair down to the middle of my back. I do shed somewhat, BUT the amount that's been falling out and being in chunks is not normal for me. At all. Please just be aware this could happen, as I am going back ... MoreI tried this for the first time and I really don't know how everyone hyped this up. Just really disappointed about the whole situation.

Extreme amount of hair loss
2 October 2022

I bought this shampoo and conditioner the beginning of January this year and I'm only reviewing now after discovering a huge number of users are reporting hair loss and I have come to the conclusion it is responsible for my increasing loss of hair as well. The shampoo smells terrible, like really awful but I was willing to deal with that because I thought it was a better quality shampoo that I see recommended often. This condition actually smells really good in my opinion. Within the last 6 months I've noticed more hair loss and it's literally been increasing every month. I only accidentally stumbled upon other users reports of hair loss because I was desperately searching for help because it's gotten so bad that after using my wet brush I legitimately have almost a ... MoreI bought this shampoo and conditioner the beginning of January this year and I'm only reviewing now after discovering a huge number of users are reporting hair loss and I have come to the conclusion it is responsible for my increasing loss of hair as well. I added a photo I took today after brushing. Since I'm followed by a dermatologist and an endocrinologist and know my blood work is perfect I believe it's due to the shampoo which is the only "change" in the last year, I'm absolutely devastated.

I’ve been on the hunt for a good shampoo and conditioner for a while now. This one was always in the back of my mind, but I was hesitant to spend the money on what seems like such a small amount ( I have long hair). I let my guard down and decided to purchase. My hair is in love! The first day of use my hair seemed dried out, but after a few days it’s the healthiest it’s been in years! I love the smell as well. It lasts all day and into the next day. It doesn’t take much either. I use about the size of a nickel for both and let the conditioner sit for a few minutes longer. I have color treated hair (dark box dye).. I know that’s bad, but with the pandemic it’s been hard to find a hair stylist with everyone being so booked out or not taking new clients. Overall I’m very satisfied and will be purchasing the larger bottles next. I’m always skeptical of reviews, but this right here is an honest review. They even sent some samples of other products which works out great because I have a trip coming up and can just pack the travel size in my carry on.

Life changing product 10/10

My hair is fine, long, wavy/curly, some damage near the ends. Super dry - the type of hair where you can put products on it and it never gets greasy. I can go a week without washing. The type of hair that previously I could never just air dry because the risk was too high. I typically buy products from aveda and cycle in products that spark my interest but I am switching to pureology forever. I used a combo of the strength cure shampoo and this conditioner and the results blew my mind. My hair immediately was smooth and sleek, curled beautifully, easier to style and detangle. The smell is so good, I love the scalp tingle. I can see how some people might feel this product is greasy but for my hair type completely balanced it out. My hair looks and feels luxurious

I have to say this is the “Best” shampoo and conditioner I’ve ever used! No joke. My hair is very long, all the way down to my butt and hips. I need a high quality product that provides moisture and hydration because of the length of my hair. I usually add some “light” honey blonde highlights once a year to my brunette maine, so it’s important for me to use products that are nourishing and healing to any damaged strands due to chemical processing my hair may go through. I only wash my hair every 3-4 days and it still feels and looks good. The aromatherapy smells of this product are “mild” but not in a bad way, only in a natural earthy sort of way. I’ve used many other high end brands such as Kérastase, Aveda, Oribe, Redken all soft, L’Oréal and many others. I’ve tried them all!!!! Some I’ve been happy or pleased with but I’m much happier with the results of this one! I don’t use a ton of products in my hair afterwards sometimes only a few drops of Argon and Lavender hair oil by Allpa Botanicals or other very natural hair oils that’s aren’t overpowering. Overall I’m very impressed and satisfied with the results of using this “Hydrate” shampoo and conditioner! Aka I did “Not” receive any samples, loyalty points, coupons, or contest entry for this review!! I bought the product to try from Ulta beauty supply store.

Not the right shampoo for me
9 September 2022

I have dry, baby fine hair that is naturally curly and I blow straight every other day. I had been wanting to try this shampoo for a long time and finally decided to buy the travel size, so I didn't have to commit to a larger bottle if I didn't like it. I was so excited to use it, and shampooed my hair once, then repeated. It smelled minty and tingled my scalp, which worried me a little because I didn't see tea tree in the ingredients, but it reminded me of the smell and I'm sensitive to tea tree. After washing, I put a towel on my head and did my makeup. By the time I took the towel off to blow dry, I noticed my scalp was getting a bit red, and I was feeling some burning and stinging sensation. I dried my hair and styled it, and as the day went on, the burning ... MoreI have dry, baby fine hair that is naturally curly and I blow straight every other day. After washing, I put a towel on my head and did my makeup. By the time I took the towel off to blow dry, I noticed my scalp was getting a bit red, and I was feeling some burning and stinging sensation. I dried my hair and styled it, and as the day went on, the burning became worse. I made sure to rinse the shampoo out very well. I decided to read through the entire long list of ingredients and found that there is eucalyptus, salicylic acid, plus some kind of peppermint oil! That is way too much stuff for my sensitive scalp! I thought this was just supposed to be a very moisturizing, hydrating shampoo, but it made my hair feel dry and tangled, and that's even with me using a good conditioner. My hair did turn out full and soft feeling after blow drying, and I might have given it another chance if not for my irritated scalp. It took me four or five days to recover from the discomfort, and I did end up losing some hair. I returned this and would not recommend if you have sensitive skin.

Overrated

Please just be aware this could happen, as I am going back to Biolage's Ultra Hydrating shampoo and conditioner. When my hair does dry the biolage actually looks smoother than the pureology. Just really disappointed about the whole situation.

The new formula is terrible
27 May 2021

I have been using the Pureology Pure Volume shampoo and conditioner for at least 10 years, through which they have changed the formula at least 3 or 4 times. The last incarnation was terrible and made my long, fine, thin hair feel and act like straw so much so that it felt like it was matting as I shampooed. So I switched over to the Pureology Clean Volume shampoo and conditioner which I have been using for the last year or so. I recently went to repurchase it only to find that it is being replaced with yet another version of the Pure Volume, so I tried the new version. It is even worse than the last. It made every little broken hair and new growth hair stick up like static from my hair. I recently went to repurchase it only to find that it is being replaced with yet another version of the Pure Volume, so I tried the new version. It is even worse than the last. It made every little broken hair and new growth hair stick up like static from my hair. It felt rough and lacklustre (and my hair is naturally so silky and shiny it is hard to do anything with), so usually I like a shampoo to add a bit of texture and not too much conditioning, but this was ridiculous. So, after phoning Purology who recommended I use the Sheer Volume instead, I bought and used the Sheer Volume Shampoo and the left over Clean volume Conditioner with it, and after that one wash my hair is now flat, silky and unmanagable.I am now searching around local salons and online to track down a couple of bottles of the Clean Volume before they all disappear and hope that will tide me over until Pureology, yet again, change the formula of the Pure Volume. Please just bring back the original formula of the Pure Volume it was just right. Why did you have to go and change something that was so hard to find in the first place?!Additionally, I should note that the Sheer Volume Shampoo and Conditioner (of which I was given a sample of the conditioner) have very strong scents. I can't even use the Sheer Volume Conditioner for the strong mint scent, let alone the weight of the product.Overall, I loved Pureology's original formulation of Pure Volume, and quite like/d the Clean Volume, but I am disappointed that they have been changed/discontinued and don't want to have to go trying new shampoos all the time.
