Now I am trying to cut out sugar and wheat products. These products are advertised as being 'healthy' so I was drawn to them. No wheat, low sugar, what's not to like? I had maybe bought a couple of boxes, and some of the other Quest bars (Those were rank) but I loved the cookies. They actually tasted ok. You know, I have been looking into my food and making it cleaner and I keep seeing the same message, 'stay away from anything processed'. So I started reading the label and saw 'canola oil'. What is that I wondered? Well, turns out it was originally conceived as an engine oil and mechanical lubricant during WW2!! After the war, there was an abundance of Canola oil so they devised a way for it to enter our food chain. Highly processed, bleached and other chemicals in there. Its not good for your body and Europe has banned its use in food. After realising this, I binned the cookies and bars I still had.... You'd be safe to avoid any of these products if you want to eat clean.

The cost of Quest products have risen astronomically over the past few years. I really only buy the chocolate chip cookies now when they are $18/12pk on Amazon. I just can't justify the prices any longer. Over $2/cookie is just insane and not worth it. If you do splurge, I recommend buying the chocolate chip and skipping the others. 1. Chocolate chip 9/10: great texture, chewy, no artificial after taste and a ton of great tasting chocolate chips. This is the clear winner due to ratio of cookie to choc chips. Spread a little peanut butter on top and thank me later. 2. Double chocolate chip 5/10: bland choc flavor, not enough chocolate chips, decent texture but underwhelming flavor 3. PB chocolate chip 6/10: very little peanut butter flavor, not enough chocolate ... MoreThe cost of Quest products have risen astronomically over the past few years. They should have left out the peanuts and added more choc chips or PB chips. 4. Peanut butter 5/10: very little peanut butter flavor, bland. Should be called peanut, not peanut butter. There is a difference; think pb mm vs pb cups. 5. Snickerdoodle 6/10: ok flavor and texture, missing something, good as a topping; crumble in protein ice cream or yogurt

As far as a baked desert type item, these are great option for a low carb, protein treat. It does taste like a Baked cookie and not like a protein bar These are great for grab and go travel snacks because they don't get all crumbly in the package and don't cause crumbs or sticky hands when eaten, and it's fulfilling enough to satisfy when you want a desert taste but it's late night and you want something quick. Actually the only such protein cookie I've found that does taste like a cookie and not a bar. That said, the peanut butter chocolate chip flavor is great. It's really has a cookie flavor that's more true to the peanut butter- milk chocolate taste and substance where as this one is more like a dark chocolate semi-but not really-desert with that slight bitter ... MoreAs far as a baked desert type item, these are great option for a low carb, protein treat. It's not as bitter as eating dark chocolate but it's not rich sweet like milk chocolate. The other flavor had an overall sweeter Richer desert taste, making these seem kind of bland by comparison. Those had the perfect amount of balance between the peanut butter and the chocolate too - not overpowering on the peanut butter. I'll keep these but writing about that other flavor makes me want that one more now. Sigh. Lol. But I can't complain too much - it's still a decent cookie, protein or not. Tastes like eating a slightly less sweet soft baked cookie with dark chocolate chips which is pretty decent when it's without the expense of excess calories or higher blood sugar destroying nerve cells and adding to fat cells so rather pay more for this cookie than pay health costs or feeling sluggish later. Or that's how I'm trying to reframe that sugar sweet taste one can get from full sugar & fat ladened regular cookies & deserts. it's starting to work.

I purchased this to try some new to me options for protein. First off, the hot & spicy chips are super spicy. As in, hadn't been that tongue-torched since a Nashville-hot OG sandwich I finally tried. The peanut butter cups are alright; just don't expect them to taste like Reese's cups. The birthday cake cookies are good, and I'm not usually one to gravitate towards birthday cake flavored anything. The cheese crackers taste just like Cheeze-Its to me, so probably the best likeness item in the bunch. I'd order each of the items individually, except the chips. Think I'll be using these as breading for some chicken to see if that's more manageable. A few chips are pretty hot, but trying to finish an entire bag in one sitting was a task!
I am no stranger to quest bars, I have consumed them on and off for years. They are the best tasting nutritional bar I have found & meet my needs. In February I joined Weight Watchers & since consume a Quest bar daily to increase help increase my protein regularly. At times it serves as a snack or a meal replacement if I’m on the go. Every time I leave the house & I know I will be gone for a few hours I take a quest bar, an apple & a water bottle with me, this has worked so well keeping me from hitting fast food drive-thru windows that leave me feeling unsatisfied. They also pass the sweet tooth test & can be added to healthy option dessert recipes in different forms such as cutting it into a crumble for a topping or chunks into a homemade sugar free cheesecake 😊 ... MoreI am no stranger to quest bars, I have consumed them on and off for years. I prefer to order directly from the Quest website for two reasons, a larger variety to choose from & I prefer to purchase the flavors that are only 3 WW points.
Update: Quest has changed the formula of all their bars, replacing the soluble corn fiber with polydextrose.I like the Double Chocolate Chunk Quest cookie. On the one hand, Double Chocolate Chunk is my favorite Quest bar flavor, but the cookie doesn't taste like it nor is the texture like it. Let's start with the negatives to get them out of the way. I agree with some of the reviewers that this cookie is on the dry side and isn't exactly bursting with flavor. The calories and fat are higher than a Quest bar, too. The bar has 180 calories and 7 grams of fat where the cookie has 240 calories and 16 grams of fat. And I find the bar better for bringing along as the cookie breaks into pieces when carried in my bag. But for me, there are positives, too. The chocolate chunks are awesome and protein and fiber are there. The texture is like a semi-hard cookie, not like a Quest bar, and if you use small pieces, it tastes great dipped in milk. And even though the flavor of the cookie material isn't powerful, there's something very satisfying to me about this cookie. It gives me that chocolate feeling even though the taste isn't that strong. After eating one, I feel like I've had a treat. I like 'em. They're not perfect, but they let me indulge a little while giving me the protein and fiber I look for from Quest. They're the size of a big cookie, so I'd consider each cookie to be the size of 3 or 4 normal cookies. And the bottom line is I've bought them several times and will be buying them again.
I have been eating these bars for YEARS....one every day. I've ordered them over 90 times. This is my favorite flavor, and one of few without SUCRALOSE. I have wondered why my system has been all whacked out, and on a whim, I checked the ingredients to find that Quest now adds SUCRALOSE (poison) to these bars!!!! I am SO DISAPPOINTED!!!!! You have no idea. My protein bar was my favorite part of my eating every day. Such a yummy treat. I cannot eat cashews, which eliminates many other bar options, and Quest has been my go-to for so so long. WHY DID YOU MAKE THIS CHANGE???? I now have to return the bars I purchased and try to find a substitute, but nothing will ever taste as good as these bars did BEFORE the recipe was altered to add poison. These cookies are not like a normal chocolate chip cookie, I'm eating one as I write this. If you're expecting it to taste like home made fresh from the oven, be warned, it doesn't. If you're on the keto journey and you miss the similar flavor, give it a try, it's a nice treat and a good size to have with a drink. It's moist, chocolate is good, and the sweetness is there but there is a definite different taste in the bready part which I don't mind. It has a unique aftertaste which reminds me of a cheaper whey protein but it's not the worst keto pre-made snack I've had. Its expensive to trial just to see if you like them, but it you can find a single cookie, give that a try before committing to the entire box. Really good product. It actually does have high protein and low sugar. This is how it should be, of course, but numerous high-protein bars have more sugar than protein you might as well buy a Snickers bar or some peanut butter cups. They also taste good, the only high-protein bar or cookie I've tried that I really LIKE; it's not just a protein delivery system. I wish they were less expensive, but compared to other brands they're reasonably priced. I should probably make it clear that I am talking about this particular flavor, not the other kinds, or the brand as a whole. Altogether, it's really nice to have a dependable product for those days you really need the extra protein. These obviously aren't like home-baked or bakery cookies, but so long as you don't eat ... MoreReally good product. It actually does have high protein and low sugar.
