Overall, I’m very impressed with the Reavon UBR-X200 4K Ultra HD Universal Disc Player. I’ve had a chance to use it in the home environment and it’s an excellent addition to any home theatre setup. The build quality is excellent and it’s a very attractive piece of equipment on the inside and out. If you’re looking for a universal disc player for your home theatre setup, the UBR-X200 is a very good choice!

I have only had this product for a couple of weeks, mostly playing sacd,s connected to my ageing arcam amp via the analogue 5.1 cables. So far the sound is excellent far better than any disc spinner I,ve ever heard before, only watched one movie so far picture quality is also excellent. Updated using USB pen no problem and the menu system is very easy to use.

Good sound but needs new firmware updates

Bought 2 weeks ago and returned within 14 days. Build could be better for £1400 however sound is very good and picture too. Compatibility is not there with DVD audio discs as stated that it should be. They have done a firmware update which has not worked. Some blu ray discs are very noisy in the machine and they make the player vibrate heavily which is not good. Eventually this will be a good machine when they have sorted out all the issues. Unfortunately there is no one in Richer Sounds who knows this machine! I was more of an expert after 10 days of trying to sort out the problems than anyone at RS...

Great Features but Pricey
1 March 2022

FOR: PQ, build quality, features, fairly easy to update firmware. Now Capable of playing SACD and DVD-Audio. AGAINST: Costly. Not the quietest on initial disc spin startup. Red Standby light too big and bright and can be a distraction if sitting just below screen - Fixed with a bit of electrical tape partially covering the light.

Is it an OPPO ? No it's on its own!

This will be long I will cover my thoughts, experience and heavy usage from the past month. First Reavon gets a hefty debate going on forums , it's not a Giec 5800 but it's probably built in the same factory with parts available for certain components due to supply ! That's just my opinion! I'll add look what smart phones can do today for the component size . Having a unit full off bits and various covers looks impressive ,the reality is components get smaller and more efficient for the same thing. Reavon are also backed by Archisoft who assisted Zappiti, Zappiti handles the U.S distribution of Reavon. The unit is solid and internally it's all very raw , everything is on show to see. The components are not the absolute latest but just a little older tried and tested ... MoreThis will be long I will cover my thoughts, experience and heavy usage from the past month. The components are not the absolute latest but just a little older tried and tested items , all the electronic boards are incredibly well finished The mediatek SoC was for OPPO originally, much like how OPPO Mobile and Sony collaborate, OPPO have exclusive use of the collaboration till that agreement runs out and it's then available for all manufacturers wanting to take it on but it was optimised for the original user So when it's comes to build and function it all works and when playing discs it's a joy to watch movies on. The picture looks rich and as intended, setting direct mode gives the best results but the unit auto mode does a fine job handling anything below UHD. Sound playback to my ears is clean and defined with a organic warmth nothing sounds mashed or overlapped . The unit feels more like a computer in operation , the drive is very smooth , reading cd, dvd , blu ray and UHD , with a fast spin up but then settles to near whisper quiet. Some discs cause the unit to spin incredibly fast for longer than desired mainly from my experience Sony UHD discs with Dolby vision, Reavon are aware and any questions I've had have been replied to in a day. External connections are gold plated and layed out well , no WiFi is a shame but it can be plugged in , no streaming services which is fine by me. Some debate about a sparce display, I can not see the fine written letters of sound codec information when sat away from the screen , I find it much easier to use the remote to call up the information I need , there is planty available including zoom feature and picture perimeter settings to fine tune what your TV can't. I left mine in reference as it displays what the disc is coded with. Is it worth the asking price ? If you are a disc collector and use various storage devices then it'll do it all Does it give an awesome picture ? Compared to my excellent and trusted ubp x800 is does look better . What about sound? Again yes to my ears it does sound cleaner. It also has a hidden feature if you love collecting discs from around the world ...well it can handle those too Things I think let it down a bit , the remote has all the functions you need but it's old school not Bluetooth, it's also big and plastic which is a shame as a sleek metal one would be a nice touch. It's a pretty unit but metal buttons and an engraved reavon logo would have been nice touches , if I'm been super picky the word blu ray on the disc tray is slightly miss -aligned When you leave the unit in auto play the screen shows a text box and occasionally it'll go black screen as the processor does it's thing before showing its home screen, when ending a disc occasionally you get the black screen and the laser will make a noise as it resets it's position. I believe these are all software related , as I said it's more like a computer in operation, it feels like it still needs a little tinkering to sort out a few bugs but it's new and it's still been developed. During operation you'll forgive it because Reavon are working on it. Since release there are regular updates adding improvements, all easily loaded via USB I think for the price it needs a few cosmetic improvements and a smoother disc drive to match it's purpose along with a nicer Bluetooth remote and built in WiFi because we don't have enough cables already! It all works as intended but does feel a little rough around the edges which at this price point really shouldn't be , if it's going to be the last of it's kind make it the final word when it comes to a high end player , still I'm keeping mine because once I'm watching my favourite films on it , I'm filled with joy.

My first one had issues Now im happy.
13 May 2022

I bought the first unit 3 weeks ago and was initially happy with it. Then I loaded Star trek the motion picture bluray. at 1.08 it started ticking and whirring and freezing and stop and starting and jumped to the next chapter. the same on one of my DVD AUDIO discs and when i loaded one of my 4K discs it span up loud. I phoned help line suggested contacting Reavon. They said it should do any of that. I arranged collection and replacement. What a difference this one is smooth in operation and oozes quality my discs play with no problems. For the price i expect no issues for being a universal player. Now DVD Audio play SACD plays and 4K discs do not rev up and is almost silent in playback. Wonderful
