I had a previous Panasonic Blu-Ray Player which was about 10 years old and starting to play up. I have always used Panasonic products and this has everything I needed.Well build and with a lot of connection features which are always excellent quality by Panasonic. Easy to setup and has it has built in WiFi Easy to connect to the internet for downloading and installing Firmware updates etc when released (no having to use a USB stick to try and do update any longer). The 4K Blu-Ray Player I purchased was multiregional enabled so it works with all DVD and Blu-Rays I have got and the image and sound quality is absolutely amazing. Would recommended this to everyone to purchase as you won't regret it.

So they support their own TVs; anyone else’s, forget it!SLOPPY #2 – doesn’t remember where you got to watching more than one discThe last couple of DVD players I’ve owned will remember where you left off (watching a movie for example) if you press the stop button – pressing play again then acts as ‘resume play’ – and will do so for MULTIPLE DISCS. You start watching a long film one Friday evening, get tired and stop before the end, then Saturday the kids play some discs during the day; in the evening you pop your film disc back in, and it picks up where you left off. How convenient.Apparently not for the Panasonic designers. According to the manual, “Press STOP – The stopping point is memorized. Resume play function – Press PLAY to restart from this point. The point is cleared if the media is removed.So unlike my 15-year old JVC DVD player, this top of the range Panasonic blu-ray player only remembers the stopping point for ONE disc, and then only provided it’s not been ejected.FIX FOR THE TRAY EJECT BUGThe workaround I discovered for this is to configure Quick Start (manual page 35) to ON. Then the player doesn’t need to do a full boot every time you power it on, so doesn’t execute the buggy code which is making the player deaf for a while to the open/close button. It also starts up a LOT quicker – why do blu-ray players take SO long to boot up?POWER DRAW WITH QUICK START ON?This leads me to another silly little oversight, in the manual. With power prices soaring many of us are conscious of the power draw of devices we leave running in standby. So I turned to the specs (manual page 42) to check what the power draw is when the device is configured for Quick Start and in a higher standby state. Panasonic quote the power draw for three other scenarios (fully on, and two in normal standby mode i.e. Quick Start off) but not for standby with Quick Start ON. What a silly little oversight. As page 35 of the manual states for Quick Start “When set to “On”, the internal control unit will be powered. The idle power consumption will increase so compared to when set to “Off”.” but they forget to tell you what it is! I called Panasonic support but they could not help me.All of the above can be summed up in one word – sloppiness. Not something one would expect from Panasonic. These are all only minor irritations, but not what one would expect from this company, especially for a player costing £300. It’s particularly damning that they can’t get themselves organised enough to fix the tray eject on boot bug.

This was another great purchase for me. The unit is compact, has a low running noise when in use, has an easy-to-use interface and produces a crisp, sharp vibrant image with great upscaling too. It also processes the sound with great clarity and depth. (Of course, the quality of the picture and sound also depends on your output device, TV/Amp/Projector as well as the quality of the cables being used etc.). The smart features could be much better but that's Panasonic's only downfall in my opinion. I would highly recommend this 4k Player if quality and reliability is important to you.

Firstly I should point out that this player is currently used in a Home Cinema with an HD projector, so I cannot fully comment on the 4K picture quality. It does however play my library of HD Bluray disks, plus a few 4K discs (player converts to HD) which I'm now buying in preference.The picture and sound quality off the discs is excellent, and I have no hesitation in recommending the player if your primary reason for purchasing the player is for the playback of discs, with less importance to the streaming Apps.As some others have mentioned the player is a little on the slow side, but not so slow as to bother me too much, and wouldn't be a reason not to buy it. The player outputs video at 60p, irrespective of the source video, so motion isn't as smooth as it would otherwise be. This is a real shame as the quality of the images is otherwise very good. Regarding the Apps, the player's navigation though the App menus is extremely slow. From this aspect it is substantially inferior to the 4K Firestick which responds instantly.

Some players are noisy while they start up but settle down when the film starts, not this one, so you can't watch at a quiet volume. Bought this to replace a 2 and a half year old LG UBK90 4K player which continually caused disk jumping and freezing as well as the machine switching itself on from time to time entirely on its own !The Panasonic seems superior in every respect, better sound and better picture even on plain DVDs. Playing 4K discs on the Panasonic linked to my LG 4K OLED and Sonos Arc sound bar sound better than in the cinema ! So far very glad I cut my losses and changed.Furthermore it arrived the next day following my phone call to Richer Sounds Sheffield without paying for next day delivery. Excellent service from Richer as always.

I have been deliberating the purchase of a 4K Blu Ray player to compliment my Cinema which I purchased a number of components from last year and had installed by your team based on the Leeds store. I spent a bit of time researching my options and decided that the 820 was probably my best option. This was confirmed by your sales guy so I placed an order with him for next day delivery. I spent a bit of time researching my options and decided that the 820 was probably my best option. This was confirmed by your sales guy so I placed an order with him for next day delivery. The player turned up as promised and was installed in my system by myself the following day. I have now had the opportunity to check it out with a UHD version of 'Elvis' and have to say it more than meets my expectations. It does what it says on the tin and produces great images and sound. So I would like to thank your Leeds store for their prompt action and delivering this excellent player as planned
Having upgraded to a 4k projector, I thought it was time to upgrade the Blu-ray player to one that could handle UHD. Rated best Blu-ray player 2022 by What Hi-fi, the Panasonic DPUB820 seemed like a logical choice, especially considering the price.I've had the player a week now and already tried it with several 4K UHD discs. The picture quality is excellent and playback is smooth and problem-free. Upscaling on regular BR discs works well too.
