Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate Shampoo (1 Litre)

I received a sample of the 4 step bonding line from redken. I liked it so much that I immediately purchased all 4 of the steps. This shampoo helps repair hair. This is specifically for color treated hair. Using without the 1sr step wash out 14% acid bonding concentrate my hair did feel softer. I had more volume and shine. When using all 4 steps it did seem to leave my hair feeling more heavy but also softer and I did see less breakage. The downside is my hair looks a bit greasy faster using all the steps. When I just used this shampoo and the conditioner it did not need washed any sooner. I decided to use this once a week like I do with my olaplex and after a month my hair did feel stronger and more healthy. I would definitely recommend trying this if you bleach your hair or color treat often.

I received this complimentary product from Influenster and Redken in exchange for my honest review. I used this Acidic Bonding Concentrate Shampoo along with the matching conditioner and the perfecting concentrate leave-in treatment. This three step regimen is formulated with Citric Acid, an alpha hydroxy acid within Redken’s concentrated Bonding Care Complex, a technology that strengthens the weakened bonds of the hair and improves the strength and resilience of damaged hair for immediate visible results. When used as a 3-step system of shampoo, conditioner, and conditioning leave-in treatment, Acidic Bonding Concentrate’s pH-balancing formulas claim to infuse hair with the intense conditioning and ultimate repair that dry damaged hair needs. Plus, it’s suitable for color-treated hair, helps protect from color fade, and is sulfate-free. Now as for my personal experience with this product,… I really enjoyed using this shampoo! It lathered nicely and had a very slight citrusy scent to it. My hair and scalp felt really clean, but not stripped of all moisture. After washing my hair, I used the conditioner and leave-in treatment as instructed and dried/styled my hair. I noticed that my hair looked SUPER healthy and full of body, which was a pleasant change from its usual damaged flat look! I must admit, I’ve gotten a little lazy with my hair the past year or so and it really shows, especially with the breakage and frizz… Using this 3-step system made a huge difference in the strength and health of my hair! I am happy to recommend this Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate Shampoo and the rest of the products that go with it!

I've used redken's color protecting line before and really loved their products. I feel like you really get a salon quality product at a fairly reasonable price. I used this as part of the set, paired with the shampoo. I did not like the shampoo at all but I did not hate this conditioner. I liked the texture and consistency on this. It was very concentrated so a little goes a long way for this one as well. It's packaged in the same quantity and format as the shampoo which is fairly compact while also housing a lot of product. With the shampoo I noted a very tangy acidic smell which was noticeably not as pungent in the conditioner. The conditioner has more of a fruity smell and was much more traditionally fragrant. Unfortunately, this product did not do what it claims to. After 3 weeks I did not see any improvement to my split ends or dryness. This line seems to be a competitor to Olaplex and it ultimately did not hold up the way I wanted it to. I think it's *fine* if you were just wanting a good quality shampoo/conditioner liner but not with the intention to target damage and bonding/repair.

AMAZING!

I was not expecting this shampoo and conditioner to be this good. I been using all soft on and off for year's. I didn't think anything could top it and this shampoo and conditioner is a forreal game changer for me. I have low porosity curly hair. I don't always wear my hair curly i do blowouts as well and this shampoo and conditioner works great for curly and blowout's. Not all shampoo and conditioners work for both curly to blowdrying on my hair and this does. My hair struggle's with build up and this left so buildup at all this leaves my hair shiny and soft with no frizz not greasy at all. It didn't weigh my hair down either it does everything I can ask for in a shampoo and conditioner. I recommend this shampoo and conditioner for low porosity hair types.

Cleans super well!!

Tbh, I was very scared that this product wouldn't clean well because of it's lack of sulfates. Even though I knew that formulation is what matters and that there are shampoos with sulfates that clean gently and vice versa. I was worried I was going to need a clarifying shampoo. Prior to this, I used one sulfate shampoo with a pH of 4.5 and one sulfate shampoo with a pH of around 5.5. This shampoo cleansed my hair better than both of them! I was shook! I also had a lot of product on my hair prior. I had recently bought an overnight treatment by Sisley that you put on your hair prior to shampooing. I used it for the 1st time as well. Then in the morning, prior to my shower, I detangled my hair with conditioner and a silicone oil serum. Then in the morning, prior to my shower, I detangled my hair with conditioner and a silicone oil serum. I do this because I prefer to sit on my bed and watch something and detangle than to detangle in the shower at the conditioning step. So yeah a lot of stuff was on my hair. I, of course, rinsed my hair off before shampooing, but rinsing alone would not get rid of everything of course. I used a little bit of shampoo yet it still cleaned my hair so well. It made me wonder if my sulfate shampoo wasn't cleaning my hair well. My sulfate shampoo had a small ingredients list too. I think it had only one oil in it and maybe 1 other conditioning agent. This shampoo has no oils but it does have conditioning agents such as dimethicone which is also a silicone. So yeah, I was worried. But not anymore and I'm no longer looking for a clarifying shampoo now because I definitely don't need one with this!

Holy Grail!

For reference, (33F) I have long, thick, corse, wavy hair. Hispanic. Its not colored treated. My ends werent horrible but deff not great as I air dry and straighten and curl it often. Also, use drying styling products. First time I used this was in the salon when it first came out. Got a full treatment. I was blown away! My hair hadn't been that healthy since before I had my children. After one use of the whole line. It was managable and dried faster than it had in years. When the stylist cut it she cut like half an inch off when i usually have to do about an 1.5 to 2 inches. From there I went on the search for soemthing to save me cash but get the same effect. For Christmas I was gifted a box set of the whole treatment and was so excited. What I quickly realized was I will not be able to find anything that gives me beautiful youthful hair like this line does. I wasted so much money on other expensive hair products hoping to bring my once compliment worthy hair from my younger days back. This is the one! The Holy Grail! You can get sample sizes of the leave in treatment and intensive treatment that are around $13 to save money which last me about a month with hair washes two to three times a week and splurge on the shampoo and conditioner. Of course I wish it was cheaper but at the end of the day if I know something works

I probably would buy this product again when I run out

tl;dr: Bottom line, if you have really damaged hair and nothing else has worked, I would recommend getting the trial size because you also get the leave in treatment to try out as well. If you like it, get the full size product. Let me start by saying I have somewhat thick hair that has been bleached multiple times in the last few years, and now dyed back to my natural color to help with my texture/manageability. I also wash my hair once a week, maybe two times but no more than that. I do double cleanse and this is the second shampoo I use. I also REEEEAAAALLLLLLYYY make sure to emulsify any shampoo before putting it on my scalp. Not only do you use less product, but it helps clean the scalp a LOT better than just glopping it on and then lathering. After my first wash I noticed my wave pattern was significantly more defined, and it was slightly less dull than it usually is after washing it and air drying. I've used it for the last month and half, and ended up purchasing the liters. To be fair I thought they were on sale, but was a little b and didn't just go with the smaller sizes after finding out they were full price. In the amount of time I've used this product, my wave pattern stays more defined in between washes without styling products, its a lot softer without using a leave-in conditioner, its definitely a lot less frizzy, and I don't need to do the curly girl method (don't like it, not worth the effort for me). I've seen that a lot of other people have noticed a lot of hair loss after using this product, but I'm glad to say that isn't the case for me.

Saving my Hair

I NEVER give a review! Ever! Too busy! However, I had to give a review on this because of the amazing results after just one wash!! My hair was so damaged from highlights and then chlorine! Bad damage! I have tried everything, literally everything on the market for damaged hair even Olaplex and nothing worked. I purchased the travel size kit of this which includes a shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in treatment thinking that it's not going to work. I used it to wash my hair, condition, and then used the leave-in conditioner! Oh my gosh, the results are amazing!!! In just one use my hair is much better and much more healed! In just one use!!! You can't see my split ends and my hair is soft! The products will shock you, though, because in the shower they didn't feel ... MoreI NEVER give a review! Ever! Too busy! Don't let the fact that it's not drenched in several oils deter you because somehow the technology heals your hair!!!

Weak hair? DO NOT BUY.

I genuinely hate leaving negative reviews. I usually don't because many products work for other people that don't work for me. That being said, this product is marketed to people with weak or damaged hair. I have light brown hair that has been highlighted with baby lights to blonde, and I know that bleach and heat really hurt hair. But I prefer to be blonde. Noticing that more and more split ends were breaking off and falling on my bathroom floor over the past couple months, and an overall hay feeling when I touched my hair, I bought this acidic bonding shampoo and conditioner (liters, because I was sure the videos/reviews were true). Obviously it was worth $120 to me to keep my hair. I used the shampoo and conditioner as stated on the back of the bottle. Not ... MoreI genuinely hate leaving negative reviews. Not kidding, by the time you get to run your fingers through your hair to comb in the conditioner, it is like trying to comb through clay from third grade art class stuck in your hair. Thinking that for sure, Redken would not make a product like this and my hair just needed to get used to it, I made the mistake of using it again a few days later and lost the same amount of hair. The pictures speak for themselves. This was just the hair that I caught in my hand, And it does not account for all the hair that went down my drain. It will pull your hair out from the route. Thankfully Ulta has a great return policy and I was able to get a refund. This week, I switched to the Redken extreme bleach recovery shampoo and the extreme conditioner. I know these two don't actually go together, but the Ulta store was out of the matching conditioner. I lost maybe five hairs in my hand in the shower when I switched. I firmly believe Redken needs to pull this product and test it again to the market they are selling to.
