The game is true to it's Resident Evil roots with requisite puzzle-solving, spooky places to explore and scary creatures. The story is actually pretty decent and there are additional episodes that can be purchased separately or through a season pass which has about 4 episodes and other extras. Sometimes the PlayStation store has the season pass on sale and is a good deal that will extend the game considerably. The game has a co-op feature which I actually liked since it adds more depth to the game and is easy to use. The game will switch between 4 different characters in separate pairs depending on which part of the story you are playing at the time. The collected items can be combined to make other items and upgrades to weapons are also easy to use.The sound ... MoreThe game is true to it's Resident Evil roots with requisite puzzle-solving, spooky places to explore and scary creatures. The story is actually pretty decent and there are additional episodes that can be purchased separately or through a season pass which has about 4 episodes and other extras. Its hard to summarize what the Resident Evil series is all about. With the sheer number of entries into the franchise, many of which are radically different from the predecessor, its hard to know what to expect from a Resident Evil title. While the first games were a fixed camera survival game with emphasis on ammo management and puzzle solving, the Wii title was a rail shooter, and the 360 and ps3 RE were third person over the shoulder action games with coop campaigns.Revelations tried to blur these together to make a third person puzzle game with emphasis on the horror aspects the original games were known for. Game is relatively short, only 4 episodes long (each will take about an hour and 30 minutes each if played conservatively) with two extra mini episodes. ... MoreIts hard to summarize what the Resident Evil series is all about. The additional modes offered such as invisible mode and countdown mode are more frustrating then they are enjoyable, so don't expect a whole lot of replay value, save for the online raid mode.

Resident Evil Revelations 2, a sequel to a game originally only released for the Nintendo 3DS, sees the Resident Evil series finding a nice balance between the old and the new. The set-up is ideal for one person who's more well-versed in gaming than the other because the first player controls the main offensive character while the second player operates the secondary character, meant to enhance the environment for the first. This can be done through the shining of a flashlight or even the pointing of a finger, although the second player isn't only relegated to such activity as they, too, can fight, albeit with less options, and explore the terrain for items. Overall, the game really compliments a dynamic that doesn't require two gaming experts so the speak, which is something my wife and I found particularly enjoyable. Like many "couch co-op" games, the screen is horizontally split so that each player has their own half of it.Revelations 2 takes place in episodic form, as well, switching between two different pairs of characters each time. Each team has particular strengths and weaknesses that you will get to know as you progress through the game. Both teams can each carry items for one another that can be passed as long as the players are close, with inventory expansion options available if you're one to fully explore the virtual environments you're amidst. With that said, the game generally rewards exploration with useful items so it's highly recommended that you make your way through every possible nook and cranny.I feel that Resident Evil Revelations 2 is a great experience overall, and is one I look forward to playing through alone at some point, just to compare that with the co-op mode. The isolation the island setting gives off is very effective, the enemies are foreboding and the progression of the storyline definitely keeps you on your toes. Overall, it's a solid horror gaming experience that is worth investing in if you're looking to play a game alongside somebody. Oh, and as a bit of a hint for uninitiated players, just because you can't see something doesn't mean it can't kill you! Good luck.

RE Revelations 2 does something pretty surprising for a modern RE game. It actually tells a compelling story with a cast of very likeable characters, and it isn't afraid to poke fun at itself and the series as a whole, something that some of the more recent entries have shied away from doing. The story does have some ties to older games, and is definitely worth playing the game for. As for the gameplay, I haven't mentioned it yet because it's pretty unremarkable, although that doesn't mean it's bad. It's a very competent Last of Us clone, with a fun and interesting partner switching mechanic that allows to swap between two characters at any time in single-player.Unfortunately, this is my biggest problem with the game, as the ai partner is quite literally brain ... MoreRE Revelations 2 does something pretty surprising for a modern RE game. It's a very competent Last of Us clone, with a fun and interesting partner switching mechanic that allows to swap between two characters at any time in single-player.Unfortunately, this is my biggest problem with the game, as the ai partner is quite literally brain dead when you aren't controlling them. Even if you purchase the in game skill that allows ai partners to attack enemies when you aren't controlling them, they will still just stand there and allow themselves to get hit most of the time. This is issue is resolved with co-op play, but that's offline, and split-screen only, which is a horrid oversight on Capcom's part. The game can still be enjoyable in spite of this rather frustrating flaw however, and there is quite a bit of meat to this game as well, including the highly addictive Raid Mode (which DOES have online co-op, bizarrely enough) . Also, the physical version comes with all the DLC on-disc, which definitely makes this the version to get.
As with RE Revelations I initially was uncertain if I'd like it, but ended up liking the first Revelations game for what it is, a decent non-numbered semi canon RE game. Revelations 2 is quite different than the first game and they've added a lot of new gameplay mechanics including stealth kills, and instead of the scanning device in Rev 1 now each partner character has the ability to scan for hidden items; Moira with her flashlight and Natalia with her 'sense' ability. This game has decent boss fight, not spectacular but fairly basic RE style bosses, but acceptably fun... but not too complex or challenging, just fun. The AI can be stupid and allow you to exploit them by making them walk into walls trying to get to you etc. But out in the open spaces the AI can be relentless.I think this is a great followup to the first Revelations, but does leave room for further refinement and improvements overall. I hope it sells well enough to allow for another sequel which the endings allude to.
This game is a big step in the direction fans of the original want the series to take. Sound & Lighting are at the best the series has had yet. The right blend of 3rd person shooter controls with the classic survival horror feel.Game play is a nice blend of the Revelations controls with better fluidity. Swapping between characters is nice for stunning enemies or scouting ahead. This plays less into puzzle solving than the feature did in Resident Evil 0. The game has acceptable length for the cost as well. Capcom was shocked to find out that survival horror wasn't a dead game type with the success of Last of Us & has such incorporated aspects of Last of Us gameplay into Revelations 2.The game is the first RE since 5 to have its positives out weigh the ... MoreThis game is a big step in the direction fans of the original want the series to take. Capcom was shocked to find out that survival horror wasn't a dead game type with the success of Last of Us & has such incorporated aspects of Last of Us gameplay into Revelations 2.The game is the first RE since 5 to have its positives out weigh the negatives.Pros: Limited Ammo for actual classic RE survival Game Play Best use of Sound & Lighting of any RE Game Smooth controls Improved Dodge feature from Revelations 1 Interesting Plot Settings are Dark & Eerie instead of Bright. Lots of characters for Raid modes Visually satisfying.Cons: Some areas are kind of Bland in their design Broken Up into 4 episodes ( people who buy the disc get all 4 at once ) Generic Uroboros/Zombie models over used not much diversity in look of some of the enemy types. Character swapping used very minimally in puzzle solving. All in all the game is solid. Just the couple things I mentioned. Though If you are one of those people that believe graphics are the sole factor in what makes a game good then the fact the game is not pushing graphical boundaries would be a con for you as well.
RE: Revelations 2 is by far one of the best games in the series. It's what RE 6 should have been in my opinion. The graphics are great, controls are intuitive and the HUD is way better than the ones found in RE 5 or 6. The Revelations series for Resident Evil have been a breathe of fresh air for the franchise. RE 5 was aggravating to say the least and 6, even though it was very good looking was ultimately a terrible game. If you are craving something more akin to the earlier RE games then the Revelations series are for you. The first Revelations is good (and still better than RE 5 or 6) but Revelations 2 is just phenomenal in every way. The Raid Mode is ridiculously addicting as well. First of all it is the entire game which includes the main four chapters and two extra chapters. Game play was great I thought, a mix between RE5 and Code Veronica control themes in how you upgrade your weapons. In saying that it is behind the back camera like RE4 ( which is what I much prefer) so don`t get confused, this game goes back to those jump scare tactics as best as possible and I think the balance between that and not feeding you too much ammo makes for an excellent play. The story is quite good and isn`t so action based so horror fans welcome and there is a slight tweak in endings depending on how you`ve played the game ( yes no spoilers). The two extra chapters are unique to the main story, Moira`s extra chapter is really good and tells the story between Clair`s chapters and Barry`s. All in all the game last a while I`d give this an 8/10 and is well worth getting.
If you like the good old Resident Evil 1 and 2, you're going to love this one. The two-sided parallel storyline of Claire Redfield and Barry Burton is absolutely one of the best horror story of the latest 10 years, 100% Resident Evil style (with 2 different endings). The gameplay is much more "survival horror" than RE 4, 5 and 6 (and the first Revelation), with very low ammo and action sequence, but with great atmosphere and adventure-exploration elements: there are key to collect, hidden items, good backtracking and a bit of puzzles, everything that an old RE fan could request. The story can be completed in 9 hours, but it's full of replayability, with emblem to collect and different modes (time attack and invisibile enemies). The box set offers 2 extra episodes along the classic four, one for Moira (a mix of survival and action, very important for the story) and one for the little Natalia (all stealth-based). Last but not least there is the Raid Mode, a mini-mission based mode where you have to kill a lot of monster with the classic Resident Evil characters (Hunk, Wesker, Chris ecc..). It's a very fun mode, with RPG elements that you will take a lot of time to complete (over 100 hours). Resident Evil Revelations 2 is the greatest RE of last years, very fun and full of contents: if you love the old-school way of Survival Horror, you MUST get this.
Very good remake. Almost as good as the resident evil 1 remake. Everything has been modernized in a good way. Amazing graphics. Only complain is the scenario changes from the original
