Thus the reason for wanting to huck it in the trash. After doing a google search on the web I learned how to adjust the max pressure setting. Voila, no more air guzzling. I also turned on the EPR feature (which makes it easier to exhale) and this made things even more comfortable. And the last thing I did to ensure a peaceful nights sleep was to tape my mouth shut using silicone medical tape. My mouth tends to drop open when I sleep on my back. With these adjustments I sleep all the way through the night undisturbed and I wake up more refreshed than I have in years. Very, very happy. My quality of life is much improved!I do love this machine, but I will say that their claim that the machine "auto-adjusts to the optimum pressure on a breath by breath basis" just wasn't true in my case. It gave me way more than I needed. Also, I like the sleep reports. And one thing that stood out to me in the reports is that when I used the full auto setting I was having about 5 events per hour and when I lowered the max pressure setting the events per hour dropped to less than 1. Full auto settings aren't for everyone.

After spending 4 days adjusting the humidity, and still not resting. I decided to change the 'mask option' from pillows to nasel, then adjusted humidity down to 1-2. Now I am resting alot better. Plus It doesn't use as much water.Overall good. It is quieter & smaller and easier to adjust to your needs.

This review is my perspective of the Resmed S10 Autoset for Her versus the Resmed S9 Autoset that I have been using for more than 5 years. New CPAP users will probably find the S10 a nice machine, but existing S9 users are likely to judge the S10 somewhat a case of 'if it isn't broke, don't fix it'. I was hoping the S10 might be my next machine as my old S9 is getting up there 'mileage wise' plus I have found the S9 Autoset (APAP) algorithm to be too aggressive. Since the S10 for Her has both the new, supposedly improved standard and the even milder for Her APAP algorithm, I decided to give the S10 Autoset for Her a try. While the S10 clearly looks fancier and indeed has improved APAP algorithms plus better incident detection (it detected RERAs going undetected by S9), both S10 algorithms are still too aggressive (i.e. jumps pressure up too fast) for my liking. So I'd suggest not giving the APAP the full default wide pressure range (4-20), but to use a much tighter range; doing some trial and error, checking the outcome, seeing how you feel, and then adjusting the tight range. In general I found the S10 Autoset for Her having a number of shortcomings vis-a-vis the S9 Autoset.Primarily you should be aware the S10 is equipped with a cellular modem to upload your sleep data to Resmed (likely a HIPPA violation since I don't recall signing off on Resmed collecting my personal sleep data). You can put it into airplane mode, but it lacks a menu option to permanently turn off an irritating recurring prompt to turn airplane mode off so it can upload. A major flaw for those of us not wanting to have a cellular modem radiating next to our head and/or sharing personal sleep data with Resmed, insurance, doctors and/or researchers. Seems Resmed has learned from the big tech firms that collecting and selling user data can be profitable. In doing some trial and error adjustments, the recurring Airplane Mode prompts (press stop and it prompts) irritated me, especially at night. When having to make an adjustment in the dark (e.g. turn back humidity setting due to condensation in the hose - I use climate tube in manual as climate tube auto default is too dry for me) the S10 menu light is dimmed down and uses a purplish color (maybe a for Her color selection?) on the highlighted menu item, which makes it difficult for my eyes to see current menu setting value.Should you need to use the S10 under conditions without water or on battery power (travel, camping, power failures, etc.) you may need to buy an add-on side cover as the unit will not run without the water chamber inserted. The side cover shortens the width of the S10 with about 1.5 inches, so it is basically still a full size "brick" even in travel mode. In comparison, when you disconnect the S9 humidifier, the blower part is only half the size, not much larger than most travel CPAPs / APAPs, so with the S9 you basically got a two for one and don't have to buy a separate travel CPAP. The S10, like the S9, is still a 24 volt machine, which means a 12-to-24 volt add on is needed resulting in shorter battery run times than the 12 volt machines from some other manufacturers since backup batteries predominantly are still 12 volts. The S10 user interface has been re-designed with fewer push buttons resulting in fewer, but mostly longer menus that mostly operated via only a single combined dial/push button. Thus it can take some time to drill down to the setting you need. An alternative would have been to build upon the user base's existing familiarity with the S9's use of multiple press buttons and a dial allowing you to more quickly get to one of more, but shorter selection menus. Since you can better feel and count the dial clicks on the S9, an experienced user can change many settings without even looking at the display. E.g. should an experienced S9 CPAPer develop tube condensation, one can dial the climate humidity level back just by reaching out, dialing one of the buttons one click and then push that button. I.e. without even looking, getting up or turning on the lights. The S10 interface might be easier for beginners (a design attempt on being more intuitive?), but has for experienced users become more cumbersome and time consuming plus requires you to look at the display (which is dimmed and difficult to see at night). And since we all use CPAP every night, no one will be beginners for long.Unfortunately some frequently used options have now been buried at the bottom of the menus (e.g. warm up, which most use every night, and the mask test option, the latter of which travel users are likely to use daily to quickly air blow things dry before packing up for the next travel leg). Those should have been quick to reach like the S9 where you push one button, a couple of dial clicks down on on that same button and push the button again; taking only 2-3 seconds for an experienced user. The single S10 menu dial button direction is counter intuitive. When moving the menu "cursor" selection up, one would expect to turn the dial clock wise like turning 'the volume up'. The S10 works the other way. The S10 lacks the option for 'EPR Inhale' (Fast/Medium speed), the fast option just happens to allow me to get a lower AHI at a lower pressure. The water tub has become more cumbersome to clean too.Again, don't get me wrong, the S10 is a nice machine - especially for beginners, but not for me even when trying to think beyond the S9 that I am used to and comfortable with. Had Resmed stayed with the basic S9 box layout and user interface, improved the internal mechanics and detection abilities, further relaxed the autoset algorithm(s), and added the nice hose swivel, then I would have been all set. But since the designers 'reinvented the wheel', the S10 is being returned. A thumbs up and thank you to CPAP.com for allowing me to return the S10, so I can look into another manufacturer while going back and put some more mileage on the S9 for now.
Thank heavens for a machine that isn't black. Trying to fiddle with things like the filter door are difficult to see when sitting on wood with my previous black version. The white solves that problem beautifully. Probably ought to have an ivory version to go with most decors. Two issues only: the 4-20 range for the autoset is quite likely NOT to work for everyone. My pressure on my previous machine was 17. This one didn't seem to get above the 4 minimum. However, customer service was very helpful in explaining how to increase the minimum to 12, which works beautifully. The only other issue is the screen, which is very difficult to read without glasses (a little hard to use with a mask on - duh!), doesn't have enough contrast and you have to be at just the right ...Ā MoreThank heavens for a machine that isn't black. This machine moans. I don't mean it has a breathy sound, the way CPAPs often do--I mean it moans. Now, perhaps I got a defective one, but this is the second of these machines I've received that made this cartoon ghost noise. The first one was worse, and CPAP.com took it back. Fair enough. The second one initially moaned sometimes, but not as badly, and I called CPAP.com. I was told it would be a warranty repair, and I decided, a little desperately, that I could possibly make this thing work. (After all, initially this second machine was only making the noise sometimes, and I thought maybe I could figure out the causal pattern. Also, a warranty repair means going weeks without a CPAP unless I already have a backup machine, which I don't.)The longer I have this ...Ā MoreThis machine moans. (After all, initially this second machine was only making the noise sometimes, and I thought maybe I could figure out the causal pattern. Also, a warranty repair means going weeks without a CPAP unless I already have a backup machine, which I don't.)The longer I have this S10, the more consistently it moans. I can hear it with earplugs. At times it keeps me from initially going to sleep, and at times I suspect that I'm breathing a little more shallowly in my sleep in an unconscious attempt to avoid the noise. (The larger the inhale, the louder the moan.) I am very tired.Wake up, ResMed: There are a fair number of online discussion board posts on apnea-related sites going back at least 5 years about noise problems with this machine. I called ResMed, and the person who answered the phone told me she's heard of noise problems with some S10s. And yet ResMed still hasn't implemented sufficient quality controls to stop turning out these expensive Moaning Myrtles. This is people's health, ResMed.Two other things to know about this machine:- Each machine shares data with ResMed and the ResMed app (if you use it) via cellular connection. Depending on the batch the machine belongs to, the machine might need to be in range of an AT&T signal, a T-Mobile signal, or maybe some other cell providerās signal. There is no way to change its provider and no way to know what cellular provider your machine uses until you receive it. There are no bluetooth or wifi capabilities.- The humidity settings are few and far apart. If I set the humidity to 4, I wake up in the middle of the night with a painfully dry nose. If I set the humidity to 5, I often wake up with rainout in the mask. There is no 4.5 setting.I think I've figured something out about online reviews of CPAP machines: many of the positive reviews are from folks who have just started CPAP therapy and are describing the healthy difference CPAP therapy is starting to make in their lives. Thus, many of those positive reviews are not comparing one machine to another. And certain machines may be more likely to receive this ratings boost if they are frequently chosen by new patients--either on the basis of existing reviews or because a doctor felt confident recommending an established company like ResMed. In other words, there may be some circular reinforcement of ideas about which machines are best, and maybe the highest-rated machines aren't always the best machines.I really loved my ResMed S9, which sadly broke after several years. But I've accepted I'm going to have to buy a new machine, and it will not be a ResMed.
This is my 2nd CPAP. My first one was adequate, it had the right features, it kept me going, but honestly, I didn't get the "life-changing boost" that most people report when they have spent enough time on therapy to start sleeping well. My first machine got old and I replaced it with this one. In just over a week, I've got the "life-changing boost". I finally know what waking up refreshed feels like. So not only is it obviously delivering good therapy, it's got awesome features, is very easy to set up and use. It delivers a sleep report right to my phone every day, and apparently, you can even get it set up to deliver reports to your doctor. I haven't done that yet, but it's going to spare me a CPAP check-in charge with my doctor and one of those frustrating trips ...Ā MoreThis is my 2nd CPAP. I haven't done that yet, but it's going to spare me a CPAP check-in charge with my doctor and one of those frustrating trips to have the report pulled and I really appreciate that. It's very quiet. I have it sitting right on my nightstand and my mask exhalation port is actually louder than this machine. I used to have my old one sit on the floor under my bed because it whirred too loudly. ResMed has hit it out of the ballpark with this one. I love the humidifier, it's so easy to fill and clean. I had enormous trouble getting accustomed to CPAP treatment, I'm an extremely light sleeper who gets disturbed at the slightest noise, I have other sleep disorders like PLMD and RLS, I can get terrible claustrophobia, but I've had the best sleep of my life so far using this machine. Really deep, relaxing, satisfying sleep. I even feel a little bit odd because of how GOOD I feel in the morning now. If you need a new machine, for women I recommend getting this "for Her" version because it has an algorithm for female breathing patterns, for men I'd say go with the AirSense 10, I honestly thought I was a lost cause and that I'd never sleep well in my life. It turns out I just didn't have the right CPAP. This machine has made such a striking difference that I have real hope, so I 100% recommend, I have no complaints about this device, it's as close to perfect as not having sleep apnea would be. If you're a super-sensitive sleeper like me, I'd give this a try, especially with CPAP.com's guarantees.
I have been using the AirSense AutoSet 10 for Her for a month for my diagnosed moderate sleep apnea. I am already feeling much better and it has made a big difference in my quality of life. I find it easy to use and clean. It is very quiet. Smaller than I expected, I like the look/design of the For Her model. I like the Auto Ramp feature and the ability to set the minimum pressure to my preferred amount after trying some different levels. The screen is well designed. It lights up at first turn on, and then the screen automatically goes dark for sleeping. There is just a bit of light on the on/off button so you can find it at night. I have the machine set on the āfor herā settings, which according to ResMed the algorithms are tailored towards womenās higher flow limitations to gently minimize sleep disturbances. The machine also has the option to set it on the āregularā AutoSet 10 algorithms. I like the humidifier and that I can adjust the settings. It helps with dryness in the nose, especially in the winter. I have seen some negative reviews about the humidifier, but I have not had any issues with it. The heated hose is also helpful, especially in the winter. When you first get the machine, if you are getting a bad smell at first use (which some people mentioned) run āMask Fitā and blow out the hose about 3 times letting it run before wearing. Also of course wash the components and let them dry beforehand. I also find āMask Fitā helpful for blowing out the hose after I wash it (which you are supposed to do weekly). I leave it hanging over a clothes bar to dry all day, but there are usually lingering water droplets at night. The blowing air gets rid of them before I hook myself up to the device. However a big negative, itās a rip off that the her model is selling for $750 while the menās is selling for $599. Itās essentially the same device and the prices should be fair for both men and women.
This is mt 3rd CPAP. My 1st was a used one sold to me as new, my 2nd was recalled before it killed me, so I did a lot of research on machines and vendors before getting my ResMed10 for her. I used this for the first time last night and got over 7 hours sleep. That's a first in many years. I could also breathe clearly and deeply after I got up which was another first for me. I'm usually very stuffed up and coughing. This machine is quiet, compactly built, and nice looking. My only complaint would be the ugly dark color of the hose.
