A game changer

My poor skin was acting up ever since I was struck down with covid, my usually clear skin was breaking out in cystic acne on my chin and jawline and nothing was helping. It was really getting me down, then my beauty therapist gave me a sample of this to try. After one use my acne looked and felt less inflamed so I bought the full size and only one week later I haven't looked back. My skin is now totally calm and acne scars from my teens have visibly evened out. It probably sounds too good to be true but this has honestly been a game changer for me. Usually, when I wake up in the morning my skin feels oily - not since using this. It just feels smooth and even. There was no bedding in period either, my skin just took to it no problem so it's strong yet gentle. I'll be moving up to 6 once I'm finished 3. If there's one skincare item I couldn't live without; this is definitely it.

Excellent addition to my regimen

I have sensitive skin with an oily T-Zone, prone to breakouts on chin and cheeks. During the first two weeks of use I experienced unusual breakouts because the retinol speeds up cell turn over. If this happens to you, stick with it! My pores have significantly improved, less buildup, smaller appearance. I use this every night and find the oils hydrating enough to not need to moisturise on top of it. In the morning I use a hyaluronic or vitamin c serum then Intensive Moisture Balance or Skin Smoothing moisturiser, followed by sun screen. This oil has been great for my adult acne and plumping my skin. I wish that the percentage of retinol was given and that better instructions for use were given. I think a lot of people are unsure if they can put a moisturiser on top.

Fabulous product

I have suffered with breakouts for some years now, to the point where I have to take antibiotics from time to time. I started by using this product once a week with no reaction, twice a week, no reaction, every day……..purging!! It was painful and unsightly for a few days but once I got through that, my skin is so much better. Even with that purging period (just bear in mind my skin was very troublesome beforehand) I absolutely love this product and use it daily with no problems now. As far as using the product goes, it’s dispensed by a pipette, it’s a light oil which massages into the skin beautifully and then there’s the smell. It has an almost fuelly smell which fades very quickly and which I actually really like. I love Dermalogica products, have been using their cleansing oil, micro-exfoliant, intensive moisture balance cream and the acne clearing serum for a while. My skin is acne-prone and oily with enlarged pores and red acne scars which is experiencing dryness at the same time with oiliness, and not every product works well on me. I bought this clearing oil from Dermalogica just because I was curious, and was not disappointed. Though it made my skin purging within the first 7-8 days, I got all my face covered with acne, but I didn’t stop using it and saw dramatic changes on the second week of using. My skin got glowy, smoother, with less breakouts, pores and scars are less pronounced, and even my regular foundation now looks like I used a blurring primer under it. It really works

The price makes me want to die, but my acne (which was the worst it had ever been in my life) had visible improvement over night and now a month later is almost completely gone. I have extremely sensitive skin so I was nervous about how it would react, but it actually improved the irritation I had from trying other products. It does however smell quite bad if you can go in store and give it a sniff before buying I would. I don't notice it after it's been on for a couple minutes and I "sandwich" it between my moisturizer which has a much more pleasant scent. I never feel motivated to write reviews, but if you have been struggling with adult, hormonal acne, this is what turned the tide for me! My skin hasn't been this clear, soft, and hydrated in over a year.

Love Love Love - Get it :p

Loved this retinol - First one I’ve ever tried but will definitely be sticking to it. Went on vacation so didn’t take any with me and noticed the difference right away. What I noticed right away was my black heads disappeared immensely, also softer blackheads so easier to extract without creating damage. Reduction in pores on cheeks. Hydrated skin. As well as when I got back from my vacation I had gotten 2 pimples - 1 was inflamed and once I got back home the first night I applied the retinol, I woke up with the inflamed breakout completely diminished from raised and inflamed. Skins appearance looks crazy great - would recommend the sound sleep cocoon from dermalogica to apply over the retinol.

Will not repurchase

I seem to be one of like three people who actually bought this product and did not get a free sample. I've been using this for 9 months and am finally almost out. I don't plan to repurchase. After all this time, I have not seen a significant difference in my skin - I still have minor acne pop up, I still have some mild texture issues, still fine lines (I am in my mid-30s so thankfully no significant wrinkles). It's possible the effects of this are so subtle and slow working that my skin has improved over time and I just don't notice? But, I did go about a month without using this after my skin had a reaction to something and I had to eliminate most products and slowly introduce them back in, and I can't say I noticed much of a difference in that month of not using ... MoreI seem to be one of like three people who actually bought this product and did not get a free sample. As others have mentioned, the smell is sort of medicinal but it goes away fast and doesn't bother me. The dropper is unnecessarily annoying and messy. (2 stars because I have had no irritation or negative effects of use, and it's possible there have been some subtle improvements, but this is not enough to make me recommend or want to repurchase)

Will purge your milia!

I struggle with deep cystic acne and am prone to millia. Pro and con is that this product WILL purge deep congestion. It works but is intense! I have been using this 2-3xs a week, taking breaks when too much flaking or irritation occurs, for almost 3 months. Milia is nearly gone by this point. At time it almost falls out without any manual extraction required. Its been a rough go dealing with cycles of purging but is improving and results are noticable. Flaking and irritation come with the territory and I think lighter surface acne has occurred since this is oil based. Its not perfect but does a good job pushing out sebum and knots of protein. The product is silky and feels great. Smell is light and medicinal. May not be for everyone but great if you like an herbal ... MoreI struggle with deep cystic acne and am prone to millia. Wouldn’t recommend

Having struggled with acne for absolutely years I was over the moon when dermalogica products started clearing my skin up! I went from having terrible acne to completely clear skin. I still had a few marks from previous spots and the occasional small breakout, so I thought this product would help with that. NOT AT ALL- this product made my skin horrifically dry (literally skin peeling off my face, moisturising with the rich repair moisturiser 3+ times a day) and break out horrendously. I’m absolutely gutted because my skin was in a great place and I feel this product has taken me back to square one. It is so sore and irritated (even when I dropped the product down to using only 2 drops every couple of days) and bumpy.
