Revlon ColorSilk 41 Medium Brown

This year alone I had red, turquoise, green, purple and some attempts to blonde hair at home. It was extremely damaging to my hair and I could not tone it for dear life. Revlon saved the day! I really want to find their mushroom blonde, I am dying to try it but I used the soft black for my root shadow, it helped with the orange and looked soft and natural. Before caving in to trying the $3.50 hair color I used Ion from Sallys, loreal and garnier olia (which is also good but fades super fast) Also I dampened my roots for a softer root shadow. Rinse in cold water so it doesn’t transfer to your blonde. It worked beautifully. 100% would be trying their other colors.

Covers grey well.

Review is of shade 60 Dark Ash Blonde used on salt-and-pepper medium brown hair. I used other brands that cost 2-3 times more and was dissatisfied with brassy fading, but most of all poor grey coverage, even when I left the products on my hair for an extra 5-10 minutes. Leaving the Revlon color on for only the recommended 35 minutes for stubborn greys works wonderfully. Since I leave it on longer the color is closer to light ash brown but that is what I am going for. Unlike other dark ash blonde brands I've tried Revlon ColorSilk does not quickly fade to a brassy reddish shade, but stays truer to the original color. Good stuff

Great gray coverage. My hair was middle age, previously highlighted, dry, unruly, going gray gross hair. I used this color because I didn't want to spend $200 at the salon. My pocket book is empty. I saw this and thought what the heck. It couldn't get much worse and the price point was less than $4. Yup, I expected my hair to break off but couldn't do the nasty roots and gray anymore. IT Worked fabulous!! I used medium golden brown and my hair was soft and no roots or gray. I've had it for 2weeks now and no fade either. Good stuff. I will definitely purchase again for root touch up in a few weeks. And I saved so much money!! I will post before and after pics

Great product, until last night

I've been using this product for years and liked it for the low price and good results, until now. I didn't change my routine, it's obviously a bad batch. Didn't think that could happen. I had planned on calling them now to see if they could send me a product coupon thru my email today, so I can try it again. My daughter's 23 yr old birthday is tonight and I don't have any more budgeted money for this. I pulled the box out of the trash and was surprised to see ANOTHER DISAPPOINTMENT. The days and hours of their customer service are Mon-Thurs, 10-4p. Today is Friday. Plus they forgot to put EST or PST. I believe their corp. offices are in New York, so that's EST. Seriously, that's lame. They don't care to get it right. OOPS!

I have used this product for as long as I can remember…and I’m 51. No problems until the last couple of applications. (I have to use 2 bottles for each application) The first application as I was putting the color on my hair the bottle was like dry rotten because it crumbled in my hands…. I was going to a meeting and had no time to do anything but the allotted time I’d already set for a color application. Then tonight I applied an application (2bottles) of blonde and my hair ended up red… uhm that was a shocker. So tomorrow I’ll be getting another 2 bottles to apply and try to correct this madness. I've had some pretty unexpected results when it comes to hair dye, but this product is far and above the most dishonest, falsely advertised dye I have ever tried. I bought the Light Ash Brown attempting to bring my hair back to its natural color, but, even starting from a very light shade of dirty blonde, this dye brought me all the way to black. Not dark brown. Black. I'm pretty cautious when it comes to Box dyes and tend to follow instructions as closely as possible, but even timing my development intervals to the second, I was rewarded with what can only be described as the most heinous dying experience of my adult life. I caution anyone who might be tempted by the overwhelmingly positive reviews on this product: DO NOT BUY IT.

Way too darker than the model's hair on the box

So I have dark brown Indian hair with grays in the front and temple area.. My hair color is what Caucasian people call being a brunette but it’s not black by any means. I have bought so many different shades of brown from this line from Revlon and other brands hoping to achieve the color that the model on the 20 brown black box have. That’s what my original hair color is. So when I bought number 20 and colored my hair, it turned it to almost black. So I bought lighter shades, some didn’t work at all on my gray hair. The only reason I’m coloring my hair is because it’s gray and I’m not ready for that yet. I don’t get why they put models with a different shades of hair vs what you actually get. That’s just confusing to me and misrepresentation of the hair color. 3 stars for the cost.

Yes buy to save money

Yes please do buy the revlon color silk, all blacks to blonde box dyed are familiar no matter the brand they'll all look identical after use. Ingredients are similar scents are different it don't matter they all brand work the same so buy the color silk one. Wish Revlon include 1 oz toner in the color silk box dyes too! 3$ revlon coupon don't exclude box dyes it worked on it select colors but you can buy it then exchange it. The gloves are weak though not latex. They should make more purple tones and blue ,pink, green revlon color silk vivid lines for 3.$ price point !! Revlon should also sell a separate line of toners 2 oz sold for 3.49 $ price point or less.
