Great quality, but have found it to overheat and shut down @ 11k still 360 shots. Will see if there is an update. But might be a issue on jobs as you would have to wait.

This camera is the biggest piece of garbage I have ever wasted money on. Overheats within 5 minutes and one of cameras shoots photos that are green and purple. I used it once. No support from Best Buy or Ricoh

I have earlier Ricoh Theta Cameras (Z, V, S) and the Ricoh Theta X is my favorite! The THREE biggest benefits are:1. - Replaceable/Removable Memory Card (all the earlier Thetas limited to Fixed Memory)2. - Replaceable/Removable Battery3. - Large ScreenThere are shortcomings. The Lens Cap is a separate purchase, Ricoh should include it.The Lens Cap doesn't fit into the Sleeve, design could be better.
It is fantastic camera
I received my Ricoh Theta X 360 degree camera about a month ago, and I've been shooting photos and videos with it several times a week. It joins a half-dozen other cameras that I'm currently using, ranging from Point & Shoot sports cameras to a prosumer grade dSLR. The best I can say for it is that it is one of the most convenient and powerful 360 cameras on the market in the sub-$1500 price range. As cameras go, though, it's only mediocre quality, and even has a nearly fatal flaw that has several photographers, including myself, thinking of returning it, or wishing we could.I happen to own Olympus TOUGH TG-5 and TG-6 cameras. I see a lot of similarities between the Ricoh Theta X and the TG-5/6. The Theta X, which produces only JPEG output, produces JPEG compression artifacts that look extremely similar to the JPEG compression artifacts of the TG-5/6, as if these cameras all are using the same JPEG compression system. They all use the same size, shape and type of battery. However, the Theta X runs Android OS and boots like a computer, that is, slowly. Third parties can write software for the Theta X as Android plug-in modules. So, the experience of using the Theta X is like that of a hand-held computer that has dual lenses, and the image quality is about the same as from a P&S camera in fine JPEG mode. Image quality is nowhere close to what one should expect of a professional grade camera, but nobody said it would be. The main selling point of the Theta X is convenience; it stitches its front and back images automatically. Unfortunately, though this stitching is adequate for the image quality, it is easily noticeably inconsistent. Even when the camera and the scene don't move, the images will shift the angles of objects in the frame a few degrees. The potential fatal flaw of this camera, though, is its enormous electrical inefficiency, which manifests as both rapid battery drain and rapid heat buildup. Shooting outdoors in the Texas Summer rapidly overheats the camera, limiting video shooting to under two minutes before the system undergoes thermal trip and shuts down, sometimes losing the video it was recording in the process. If limited just to shooting photos outside in the same conditions, it will overheat and shut down automatically in twenty minutes or less. Even if it doesn't overheat, the Theta X limits all videos at all resolutions to five minutes maximum recording time. In those five minutes, should the camera remain cool enough to record that long, the battery will drain about 15% to 20% of its charge.I haven't used any other 360 camera, but I need something better than this. Fortunately, I bought this camera to shoot real estate photo tours, so mostly indoors, where the temperature is more tolerable. The Theta X seems to function reasonably well indoors, though, again, the image quality is only mediocre when compared to P&S cameras.
Stay away from Theta X and Ricoh. They have zero shame selling a product which they know overheats quickly and is unusable in any professional setting. Ricoh support is a joke.
Love it! The Theta X 360 camera enables a minimal after-fix process where in most instances images can be used without the need to undergo any after-shoot enhancement. Given that, my workflow in producing virtual tours is now geared to linking pics that tell the virtual story pictorially. Love it!
Excellent service from B&H!
The technology in this 360 camera far exceeds my use requirements at time of writing this but it does show the potential for much greater application on my part including measured survey work. I am a building surveyor. The reason for the review is that it does the simple things very well too.I use the HDR function with the camera mounted on a lightweight tripod to capture interior building detail. It is quick and reliable with high resolution images. Battery life needs to be watched and I have bought two additional (non-Ricoh) batteries that hold their charge. Can I justify the price? No, not with current use but that's my problem and not the manufacturer. Service from SCAN was as good as ever. I appreciate their commitment to stock holding.Mike.
