I previously upgraded from the Rode shockmount with the rubber bands. The previous one was good, but the bands wear out overtime, causing your mic to sag and possibly hit the base.This shockmount with the rycote stabilizers are much more durable in the long term. You can even adjust the mounts depending on the length of your mic.I personally like the cable management system where you can tuck the xlr in the sides, preventing cable noise.The pistol grip is a great feature for handheld situations, but it’s even better if you invest in a quick release mount so you wont have to constantly untwist the shockmount from the boompole in run n gun situations.

Superb quality. Grips in your hand well! Easy twist lock and holds the weight of the shotgun perfectly with my AT815b which is a long 18" shotgun microphone. Comes with a hex tool to screw the suspension in place depending on your configurations/ mic size. I wish Rode included the special XLR cable that was made for this product, that would be a great plus! Also an adapter to tread to 3/8 boom poles. All in all it's a good product, I would definitely buy another one in the future.

Took this grip out on a very challenging shoot and was very impressed. No slippage, great cable management options, excellent build quality. I appreciate the large cover on the nut that adjusts tilt, feels solid and easy to grab quickly. Did some tests to see how much wiggle room I had on handling noise and actually had to shake my boom to get anything to transfer through the mount. Very satisfied with this product overall.
Bought for my Sennheiser 416 mic, fits perfectly, nice build quality and will be useful for a range of applications.
Great quality with this grip and appears like it will last a long, long time. Just picking it up you get a sence of quality.....I won't worry about my Rode NT4 + slipping off...really nice!
There are times when a full Zeppelin kit is simply too much for the job, and when weight management on the boom pole is extremely important.The PG2-R is a much-improved version from the original PG2. It is lighter weight and features the quiet lyre suspension mount from Rycote. As an alternate solution to the Rode Zeppelin kit, this is a must-have piece in any sound kit that included the NTG-3.

The top section rotates and slips no matter how hard you tighten down the adjustment knob. Your mic is guaranteed to tip and smack into something. Super frustrating and useless product.
