I recently had need to replace the submersible in my grey water holding tank. I have used Ryobi before so chose the RSCD750 750w Clean and Dirty Water pump. This pump was very easy to install as it uses standard fittings and even comes supplied with a handy 90° threaded fitting. It has a very convenient Clean or Dirty Water settings so I chose dirty water for its ability to handle larger object that may enter the system. The pump is very quiet yet powerful and has a convenient depth adjuster to set the amount of water the tank holds before starting to pump. A nice change from the fixed float pump as it can be set so the motor does not start as often as some.Over all I recommend this pump to anybody requiring a submersible pump for their house.

I bought this pump to help when our concrete verandah floods in heavy rain. On the box it states that this pump has a "minimum suction level for clean water applications 5mm". I have had it in over 30mm, i.e. more than 6 times what the box states it could manage, and it did not draw up any water at all. I made certain that the pump was set up for clean water not dirty water. It may very well be a good pump for other purposes or situations, however to assist in removing surface water from concrete I found it to be useless. It is disappointing that this pump did not do what the box claimed it could. I have returned it to Bunnings for a refund.

I have mine positioned in the bottom of a sunk 44 gallon barrel which i feed multippe IBCs into then i ise the pump to pump up into a raised IBC to gravity feed the gardens. I find the switch to be adequate but the pump can take about 30 seconds or more to prime the pipe, which is only about 4m long and raised aboit 3.5m from the bottom of the barrel. Given the pump kicks in when the water is aboit 1m deep the loft is only about 2.5m. This delay has been disappointing but once primed it appears to work well. Ives bought the base model, perhaps the better models perform better.

I bought this a couple of months ago to move dirty rain water from a pit. The pump is semi-permanently installed there. Does a great job pumping water out and is not affected by the leaves that collect in the pit. Only negative for my use case is that the float valve needs quite a lot of water (eg far deeper than the pump itself) to turn the pump on. I can’t seem to adjust the switch to make it work independently so I have to give it a nudge. Turns off reliably.
My septic tank submersible bit the dust - a Grundfos that lasted 18 years. This Ryobi was bought as an emergency device to enable the tank to be flushed while a new permanent pump could be sourced. The Ryobi was set on the dirty water setting and performed above and beyond for the several days that it was needed. It had no trouble discharging to a height of approx 2m and a distance of 50m. All that was needed to get things up and running was a length of 25mm poly pipe and an SS hose clamp.
Been paid to service, repair, & install pumps including centrifugal pumps for more than 40+years.Bought this today to maintain a storm water sump, It's sitting on a flat concrete block up off the bottom in 250mm deep water at start up , box says it'll suck down to 5mm or 50 mm depending on setting on base.useless piece of manure won't re prime 90% of the time unless I want triple Gump rain up the inside of my coat, for the 4th time.Drilled a 3mm hole in my good pipe 150 mm from the pump outlet to let air outno change, It feels like it needs an air bleed hole in the pump volute. If I turn the power off it struggles to re prime 2 seconds later with a full delivery hose.Glaring at the joyous thing then looking at the red rubbish bin knowing Ive been fitted ... MoreBeen paid to service, repair, & install pumps including centrifugal pumps for more than 40+years.Bought this today to maintain a storm water sump, It's sitting on a flat concrete block up off the bottom in 250mm deep water at start up , box says it'll suck down to 5mm or 50 mm depending on setting on base.useless piece of manure won't re prime 90% of the time unless I want triple Gump rain up the inside of my coat, for the 4th time.Drilled a 3mm hole in my good pipe 150 mm from the pump outlet to let air outno change, It feels like it needs an air bleed hole in the pump volute. If I turn the power off it struggles to re prime 2 seconds later with a full delivery hose.Glaring at the joyous thing then looking at the red rubbish bin knowing Ive been fitted up didn't help prime either, it would much rather I get soaked again, I'm running out of dry gruds, Ive used up to Wednesday and its only Sunday.Don't buy it for this application, as I don't need a static display of the useless crap I should never have bought. There is good news, I didn't buy two. POmanure. This time its a no from me.
We purchased this pump 6 months ago and have used it half a dozen times during heavy flooding to pump water away from the house. The pump works fine however I am interested under what conditions the max flowrate of 16500 liters per hour (4.5 liters per second) would be reached? The output is more like 0.5 liters per second in reality. Wonder if this is the difference between the foul water setting or clean. From the positive feedback we definitely thought it would be able to pump more surface water than what is the case. Not a bad wee pump but the specs on the box should be questioned in my view.
Bought this after I excavated my pool, rains came during excavation and heavy there after and filled out my now muddy hole. Bought this to clear it out and it did so easily, small rocks and other objects as you would expect at the bottom of an excavation pit didn't trouble it at all. You could hear them go into the pump then out again up the outflow pipe. Perfect for small to medium jobs. I would say that as it pumped the water out it had a rise about 2.5m and pumped fast and furious, when I extended the pump to the other side of the pool and it had to pump it through the pipe 7m then up the 2.5m it pumped much slower but still got the job done.
The suction work great. Have had no need to prime or be concerned about having water in pipe to avoid air locks.Seems reliable after a couple of months.Where this unit is not so effective is in a tight sump pit space. Mine is approx 30cmx30cm base, which means you can't have the float switch fully free. It needs to be shortened. I first tried the inbuilt clip on the handle, but could not get the right length to turn on or off properly. Ended up using a rubber strip to give more flexibility and works ok now. This unit with its tethered float switch is more useful in an open pit space where the tether is uninhibited. A vertical float like a toilet cistern would be more useful in a tight sump pit.
I needed to pump out a gray water tank (approx 3000 litres). I set up the pump with poly pipe outlet hose and a rope to lower the pump into the tank. I had been advised to use rigid pipe as flat pipe will stop flow if a kink develops. I kept the pump about 75mm off the bottom until it had almost finished then lowered it onto the bottom of the tank. Make sure you anchor the outlet pipe to stop blowing around. The Ryobi pump worked like a dream. Recommend it if you need a submersible pump for occasional use.
