The Salomon SPEEDCROSS 6 is a technical trail shoe that is suitable for challenging trail routes. Trail runs with many elevation meters and challenging surfaces such as muddy paths and routes with many boulders. Enjoy the perfect balance between grip, protection and stability and explore untouched nature reserves with this trail shoe! Midsole The EnergyCell+ midsole returns a lot of energy for a responsive feeling. It also offers good cushioning and the material is durable, making the shoes resistant to running ultra trails. Upper The SPEEDCROSS has an upper that makes you trail-ready. The upper part of the shoe is covered by Salomon's SensiFit construction, from the midsole to the lacing system, and thus provides optimal support and a customized fit around the foot. Furthermore, the anti-debris mesh gives you the certainty that no dirt will get between your foot and the footbed. Ripstop is the weaving technique used in manufacturing the shoe to ensure that the material of the upper is strong and tear-resistant. With this shoe, the bottom of the heel is reinforced while the top is flexible, soft and comfortable. This will not put pressure on your heel bone. Finally, the shoe has the Quicklace lacing system to easily loosen and tighten your laces. This means you no longer have to worry about laces that can get stuck in branches while running. Outsole The Contagrip Mud outsole is specially designed for effortless running on wet surfaces. The sole material is soft to provide maximum grip on muddy and slippery surfaces. The sole features Chevron studs that allow it to settle deep into soft ground. The large spaces between the studs ensure that mud disappears quickly. Don't let muddy and slippery surfaces hold you back with the Salomon SPEEDCROSS 6!

The zip-tie laces are brilliant. But the Speedcross design holds my foot all around, with enough room for my toes to be secure but not crowded. Yet, these shoes are the like "the sisterhood of the traveling pants": My friend has a wider (normal width) foot, and her Speecross perfectly fit her foot as well.

Salomon’s always my go to for just about every hiking experience that doesn’t involve ice and snow or serious long distance where comfort and flexibility are not primary. The fit for these shoes are perfect for me.Basketball also beat up my ankles as a young guy, so my winter hikes also see me wearing a pair of Salomon Cross Hike 2's with their mid boot design to prevent ankle sprains when I'm hiking more steep rocky bits and less trail terrain and want the boot height and stiffer torsion sole but a very similar sole that stands up, grips well and again mud and dust wash right off with all synthetic materials.I have fussy feet and Salomon has given me happy feet again and makes it easy to get the steps and stay really active!

Great performance, less durable than the 5 model.
2 August 2023

Salomon Speedcross shoes have been my go to for several years. They're comfortable, traction is unparalleled, and they just work on all sorts of terrain. Typically, out of the 5 model I would get 400-600 miles a pair with 400 being on the low end, as tread reliability starts becoming compromised around the ball of the foot at around 400 miles. However, even in mostly dry and dusty conditions, I can squeeze out another 100-200 miles out of them, especially if no pavement is involved and get that 500-600+ if I'm really trying to stretch it.The Speedcross 6 model, however, appears to have changed the rubber compound, or at least, so it would appear. The first pair, I managed to get about 400 miles out of, and that was after basically squeezing them for everything their worth. The tread was actually shredding and getting severely compromised at about 200 miles, where they wouldn't even approach those conditions until around 400 on the previous model. By 400 miles, holes in compound began forming and rocks were beginning to get embedded (which I had never experienced before), and I was slipping all over the place on anything remotely smooth. The second pair that I'm using currently appear to be displaying similar symptoms. So while I'd typically rate the Speedcross shoes based on previous models at 4-5 stars, this model I have to mark down a step or so. You're still getting that excellent Speedcross performance, but if you're in dry and dusty trails most of the time, don't expect the durability you may have seen on the previous iteration.

I love these shoes!!! But....

I am a huge and long time Adidas Terrex fan. When I wore my first pair of Salomon Speedcross 3's, I quickly was converted.Usage: I am a Professional Disc Golf Photographer and I play a lot of disc golf. When on tour, I'm easily walking 3-5 miles a day. Terrain varies from golf courses to hills, to mountainous terrain. All kinds of weather, rain or shine. When playing disc golf I'm walking around 2-3 miles and that's on average 3 times a week. So needless to say, I get a lot of usage out of my shoes. What I love about my Speedcross GTX 6; Comfort, 10. Great for my narrow feet. Traction is super grippy for any terrain. Love the speed lacing tech. Easy to put on and take off shoes. Low enough base so I don't roll my ankles on rocks and what nots. It's a great shoe no doubt. I even want to purchase the non-gortex Speedcross 6 for more breathability when it's not raining or too dusty out. Although, the GTX is more breathable than the Adidas Gortex shoes. Why I gave these shoes a 3 rating...well, let's just say the idea of putting a whitish fabric cover over the tongue of the shoe that is geared for the outdoors and I not easy at all to clean, was probably not the most brilliant idea Salomon has had. After the first use, my shoes already look dirty and dingy and I can't do anything about it. Everything else on the shoe can be cleaned to keep it's relative newness. But the fabric over the tongue is so annoyingly dirty and squishes up. I've considered cutting off that part on the shoe but don't want to sacrifice any integrity of the shoe.Anyway, great shoe other than the fabric over the tongue. Super annoyed by it. Hopefully the Speedcross 7's won't have that feature...

The tread, although worn some, has held up well with plenty left for me to burn through. The only signs of damage are on the rubber toe cap, the very top lip has started to separate and peel back very slightly. While this doesn’t negatively impact the shoe yet, without intervention it will continue to separate over time. I super-glued the edge of the lip and will continue to monitor. These are my second pair of Salomon trail-runners and I do not hesitate in recommending these shoes.I plan to buy a fresh pair next year for my Colorado Trail thru-hike.

I've been wearing Speedcrosses since the OG for hiking but I started trail running last year. Bought a pair of these a week or two before my 1st trail marathon. Race was on the red rocks of Sedona, AZ so a lot of people gave me some flack for choosing such an aggressively treaded shoe. I watched countless racers slip and slide across the rock, loose dry marbles, and wet sections from recent rain. These things gripped like Harambe to a small child! Everything hurt after the race except for my feet! Wore them with toe socks and had zero foot issues whatsoever. My distances are going up, and I find that these are good just about 30 miles before the lack of cushioning plays into the equation, so I'm ordering some Thundercrosses. Love the Speed Cross......My Salomon Story - Following many years of baseball/softball - I ended up with plantar fasciitis, to the extent that I stopped playing both sports. While at work, after sitting down for 15 minutes, it would take at least 50 steps to feel somewhat comfortable walking again - not to mention the pain following a full nights sleep and taking that first step. I "happed" across my first pair of Salomon shoes at Cabellas. I had tried on the Adidas trail shoe and the Salomon - the Salomon shoe was on sale and felt 100% right. I went with the Salomon, within two weeks time, I no longer had an issue with the plantar fasciitis. Since my initial entry into the Salomon shoe line, I have purchased the winter Gortex line (both trail and boot), multiple Speed Cross (including Speed Cross and Speed Cross Gortex), Alpha Cross as well as the Pulsar. Loving this brand - Last Christmas, I purchased for my wife the Speed Cross 5, Predict Hike (Gore Tex) and the Cross Hike Mid (Gor Tex). Now she is hooked on the Salomon brand as well! I know this product well and can tell you the benefit it there!

Speedcross 6 trail runners
8 June 2023

Having worn hiking boots for years, I finally decided to switch to something lighter. I purchased the Salomon Speedcross 6 shoes for a 10 day vacation. The first hike I did was the Ozette Triangle in the Olympic Peninsula (about 9 miles). The trail had dirt, some mud, and lots of rocks along the beach. I was amazed at how comfortable and lightweight these shoes were. The grip was amazing! I found myself jumping over rocks, and many obstacles where before I would carefully climb over due to heavy boots. These shoes have completely changed how I hike. That same vacation I did a 12 mile hike in the Redwoods of California. I chose poorly for that hike, as I wore my boots. I slipped, stumbled, and really wished I would have worn the Speedcross 6 shoes instead of my ...Ā MoreHaving worn hiking boots for years, I finally decided to switch to something lighter. But a quick wash with soap and water cleaned them up, and they dry really quickly as well. Definitely glad I purchased them!

Very good fit and grip

Yes, I like them a lot! I use them for both work and hiking in the NH mountains. For work, I have an active job which requires walking regularly both indoors and occasionally outside. The downside to the shoe is the soft sole which when worn during the hot summer months, will wear quickly. This is not a knock since the shoe wasn’t meant to pound hot pavement. The soft (meaning grippy) sole however works very well on slippery trails in the NH mountains. They grip rocky surfaces well and the ā€œlugsā€ provide traction when the trail gets loose or wet. I have a wide foot (E width dress shoe) and I have both the wide and normal width in the Speedcross and both work for my feet. The wide width, naturally gives me a little more room but I can fit comfortably in the standard width. I have a feeling Salomon’s may have a slightly wider last. And since this has been an exceptionally wet season in the Northeast, I can say with confidence the GTX is waterproof!
