It's great that this dryer includes a drain connection so that we don't have to manually empty it. The light inside that comes on when opening the door is a great touch to see what you're doing. The filter is very easy to change. The touch-activated buttons are a bit of an unnecessary gimmick. I'd prefer normal buttons that give tactile feedback. I have no use for the wifi connection either. Who needs an app for a tumble dryer? Just another thing to go wrong and a possible vector for compromised security.I've found that things aren't entirely dry after a completed cycle, even after 3 hours from a load that had a full spin in the washing machine. Really horrible customer service! This dryer connects to your phone through an app and tells you how much electric it's using. It tells me that it uses between 0.7 to 0.9 kWh each time I use the machine which is just around 30p with the energy price cap. The app shows you the progress of the machine while it's on, and also sends you a notification when it's finished even if you're not in the house so that's handy. You can't turn it on/off using the app as you still need to press the start button on the machine to start the machine off (Samsung can you introduce this feature!). The machine is a bit noisy if you're in the same room, but when I close the kitchen's door and go to living room next to it, I can hardly hear it as it's faint, if the telly is on you can't hear it (There is a quite mode but I haven't tried it out). it drys the clothes really well, even when it's mixed types of clothes all together like towels and socks and shirts at the same time, something my old machine didn't do too well as the towels were slightly damp, so I'm happy with the Performance. It's a bit of an expensive machine but I'm hoping the running costs will justify it after a few years of usage and I'm happy with the performance.

I use bedding setting, set level 3 for drying (normal is level 2,) put 1 double duvet, 4 pillowcases and a fitted sheet in. It doesn’t get it all dry, it scrunches it all up and you would have to keep pausing machine and shaking out. I researched majorly before buying and thought this had reverse function to prevent this, so huge disappointment for me that it is hardly a full load in a 9kg machine and the duvet cover was really really damp on cycle end. I have to put it on a horse and whack the dehumidifier on to finish it off. I was also hoping as it was a 9kg and I was going to dry bedding like stated, so no where near full, that I wouldn’t have to then iron it. But it comes out worse than my previous dryer and I am still chained to the iron! The bedding issue is why I’ve given this a 3 star rating as I expected better for how expensive the machine is.Drying Towels - top tip if you want them dry don’t use the towel setting, it doesn’t get them all dry, how silly! I have found using the cotton setting with a drying level of 3 will work better.Changing door round - some screws were really difficult to undo and having it other way round it doesn’t seem to shut in same way. Note I saw on a review someone believing the wording “heat pump” would be upside down if you change door. It isn’t as you take the glass out and turn it the other way round.Annoying music at end of programme, which you can’t change to beeps, or anything else! there is ability to switch it off. However if you aren’t using the app and are not in visible vicinity of machine you then wouldn’t know it is finished!I am in two minds, sorry not helpful, as to whether I’d recommend this. It could be a fantastic machine but the drying of bedding and then finding the towels setting didn’t dry actual towels, has been a real let down for me as those items being dried was the main purchase reason, well that and the heat pump technology means a lot less cost energy wise.

Heat pump problem after 6 week, failed engineering
16 June 2022

really not happy with the tumble dryer and would not buy it again. looks stunning and great features, but the heat pump can’t be cleaned easily at all. after 6 weeks I am getting a constant error message that the heat pump needs cleaning although it has been cleaned several times. in general it’s failed engineering as you can’t pull the heat pump out, and the flimsy grill type design of the heat pump bends the lamellars easily. there is also no cleaning brush coming with the dryer which i think samsung should provide considering this ridiculous design! we had a bosch tumble dryer before where the heat pump could get pulled out easily! and cleaned under running water. never a problem in ten years with the bosch dryer.

This is my 3rd Condenser dryer, previous 2 spanned 18yrs. All been 9kg capacity. The features on this one are exceptional. It comes with a flat rack, which will come in really handy to dry out wet shoes in the coming months. Connects to my phone via wifi & smarter things, so I can select programmes that way & just press start on the machine & get notifications as to when it's finished, I can also see the remaining time. The matching washer is the same set up & they seemingly communicate via the app. So the last programme used on the washer is then suggested on the dryer (as long as you dont turn the dial) when you turn it on. You just load up & hit "play". It senses how dry the laundry is, so it will end the cycle if it's dry before the alloted time frame. You just load up & hit "play". It senses how dry the laundry is, so it will end the cycle if it's dry before the alloted time frame. It displays on each start up to clean the filter before use, I do that at the end of each cycle regardless, the fluff filter is a bit of a pain until your used to it as it's 1 inside another. But they separate for cleaning, just can be a little temperamental getting them all to close back together even when they're the right way.Obv it plays the song when it's finished it's cycle (some Samsung repair guy told my mother it's the national anthem for South Korea, but I've listened to that & it's not but a little similar in places, from what I can find online it is a Schubert, translates to "the fish" or "the trout" (I haven't a clue why they chose that lol), my kids have already said it's annoying lol... not sure if there's a way to turn it off yet? I don't mind it tbh, I can't hear it beyond the kitchen, so I love the phone notifications & my last one made the typical "flat-lining" sound you hear in films, etc which startled me when I first heard it. So this is pleasently different lol. I don't think anyone with an open plan living would enjoy it for long though. The dryer is quiet during it's main operation, infact the only time you do hear it slightly is when it's pumping water to the container, maybe if something catches the glass while drying & obv when it finishes if your in the same room. It does have a silent dry feature & the washer also has a silent wash, but I haven't tried either yet to fully comment on what that entails.

Long, long, looonng time to dry!
6 June 2022

The dryer started off great…had it two years now and it has started to leak by the condenser. I clean it and the filters all the time so not sure why this is happening. I have also found that for a wet towel load weighing 4kg on a towel dry setting takes 5 - yes your read that number right - 5 hours!!!! A cotton setting takes 3! Maybe the water leak and the time it takes to dry is connected? I don’t know, I assure you though that I have cleaned the filters, condenser, checked door seal and checked the outlet hose for blockages. All clear so bit of a mystery!I love the idea of recycling the air with the heat pump…a fantastic idea as we all need to save money where we can and most importantly look after the environment. However after two years of ownership, leaking and VERY long drying cycles shouldn’t be happening.Also….if I wanted to get a spare part (new filter perhaps?), then you will be hard pressed to find one for this specific machine. There are many drying cycles to choose from, and when the cycle has finished there is an long and audible tune - which can also be turned off. The app that goes with it is brilliant as it syncs up with your washing machine (same model) and recommends a drying cycle based on the wash! Performance side it lacks considerably. A fantastic idea but the design and cycle length still needs tweaking in a major way. Value…it is expensive, but personally I’m happy to spend a tad more when I know I will save in the long run. Long run being 10 years…not 2.

Really happy with this dryer. It matches the washing machine, which is also from the series 5+ range. The dryer is very simple to use, you can either use the dial in the machine or you can use the app to select the cycle with the laundry recipe.A brilliant feature is it communicates with the wash cycle on the washing machine and will then recommend the drying cycle from this. Basically the washing machine and dryer talk to each other. The drum has a diamond design, so this keeps the clothing from getting caught/damaged on the drum and there is even a rack for if you'd like to dry trainers, so no noisy clunking with trainers going around. There is even a light in the drum to make sure you get everything out. It's also an extremely quiet machine. Especially compared to our old on. It's night and day and at most is a gentle hum that you don't notice.

Very nearly perfect - but not quite

I have owned this tumble dryer for 6 months now - it is used at least once a day. Initial use is a learning curve - but not too steep! You cannot throw in an average load of washed items and expect them to be crisply dry in an hour - it will not happen. However, towels (on the 'Towels' setting) will be beautifully soft when dry, mixed loads take about 2.30 hours and won't be fried to a frazzle. It runs quietly, I have no problem with emptying the water out - or cleaning the filter and heat pump. I also prove bread in the still warm drum after a loads finished! Chill out and let the machine do it's stuff - in it's own time and with considerable ££££s saved. However my only gripe with this dryer is what it does to larger items of bedlinen. Put two double duvet covers to dry (well within weight capacity) and they will inevitably become twisted together - to the extent that it can take Herculean effort to prise them apart! If left for a full drying cycle, the two twisted together items will be dry on the outside but still overly damp on the inside (even if being ironed). Yes - I have wool dryer balls, makes no difference. The only way to avoid this is to pause after an hour, disentangle the items , then resume. I am presuming this happens because there is no 'reverse drum action' on the dryer. Why not? Whilst I love my Samsung washing machine - and would buy another in a heartbeat, not sure I would buy this tumble dryer again - purely because of this problem.

I have put off purchasing a tumble dryer for a number of years due cost of machine and electricity. I was using a heater airer for a family of six. After a lot of research this came out as the most energy efficient and this seems to use about half of the electricity of my airer. The cycles seem to take around about 2 hours in general, cothes are slightly warm but not hot. The machine dries the clothes gently, making them very soft. I Love the shelf for drying shoes but not sure where to put when not in use. The heat exchange is easy to clean with soft brush supplied and a helpful reminder pops up when it needs to be done, once so far in the last 3 weeks. The smart app is helpful for monitoring the dryer time left and electric use. But once you have the knack it's easy., but otherwise a brilliant machine and really don't know why I waited so long.
