After purchasing a PlayStation 5 console at the end of 2021, it became apparently very quickly that the internal storage was going to be used up rather quickly. I just installed this puppy, recovered my OS in less than 2 minutes (about 30GB compressed/100GB uncompressed) and I'm up and running. Ran CrystalDisk and it pegged reading around 6850 and writing just under 5000. I cannot get the theoretical fastest speed in the real world; copying from another NVMe only yields about 3000, which is still plenty fast enough (it might be a shared bus limitation or the speed of my other NVMe). I copied 50GB of large files (2-8GB each) to it in 18 seconds. Temps run around 45c idle, the max I saw is 56c under heavy load. The heatsink does a decent job, but I was hoping it would run cooler than my other NVMes that have aftermarket coolers. They all run between 42-47 idle. Overall, I have nothing to complain about. My board had a PCIe 4 NVMe port and I decided to get this drive to maximize the system speed. Oh my. I have never seen a machine boot so fast. Everything just flies. For my latest PC I was trying to convert to all-NVME (for the most part) as the mobo supported three internally plus a PCIE hypercard (can mount 2). All Gen-4. My last computer had a mix of gen-3 and 1 gen-4. I purchased a new 980 PRO here and put it in RAID with an older one, though updating firmware and other business was quite a bit more difficult than I thought. Perhaps not worth all the trouble of RAID, but that was what the mobo defaulted to, and that's how the backups and reinstalls of windows ended up. I had to physically re-mount the drives un-RAIDed to get the utility to recognize them. Or you can just not update the firmware... but Windows 11 is currently very much slower than Windows 10 and the firmware was supposed to ameloriate the NVME problems 11 is having by a bit.
Pros: Simple installation, excellent and stable speeds for gaming and professional tasks. Simplistic Samsung Magician software to monitor your drive's health and keep its firmware up to date with the click of your mouse. If you aren't tech savvy, such software is fantastic to keep this product up to date and operating at its peak!Cons: Price, you are getting what you pay for with these. Samsung has a good reputation, and it shows with their drives. Have not had a single Samsung drive fail me yet. I have two 1TB models and consistently build my customers systems with 970pro Evos which are an excellent alternative to this drive if your wallet winces at the price for the 980pros.Overall: Highly recommended for those looking for quality, simplicity and stability.

Make certain you install the Samsung Magician software and update the firmware to the latest version.Unless you need every scrap of storage space, I would suggest turning on Over Provisioning, as this will extend the lifespan of your device.I would recommend against using Full Power Mode.
