TV made a low zinging noise out of the box. Picture was amazing and everything worked great so I mounted it and didn't think anymore of it. For the next 9 months or so this TV gave me such beautiful gaming and viewing experiences. Then one day I turned it on to find internal damage had occurred to the panel. I'm the sole user and never had any physical interaction to cause any damage. There are no blemishes, indentations, scratches or any visible imperfections on the screen nor the outer factory plastic that would suggest physical contact. It is a heavy TV so maybe there was a pressure from inside, or perhaps the panel or other left the factory compromised. Out of the millions and millions of products Samsung makes surely there will be some defects, but the only response I got from chat was "there is physical damage." 1 year warranty starts from when your distributor bought your TV, not you. No manager, no ticket escalation, no progression leading to a solution. Instead I found multiple agents that work for you with an agenda of their own. Phish info in an effort to scam unsuspecting Samsung customers. I don't mind I received a defective unit, but when I reach out for help and find a portion of your "experts" with no desire to help me but the desire and intent to steal from me, you can imagine how that makes me feel.

In September 2021 I purchased a QLED model QN65Q60AAFXZX. It was a good deal since it had a nice discount; total was cost 31,000 mxn (~$1,550 usd). 14 months later the tv screen went totally black; I called Samsung Mexico and they sent a technician to diagnose the problem. The issue was that the tv failed on its "polarization" and the whole screen panel would have to be replaced for 21,996 mxn, that's ~$1,099 usd or 70% of the original paid price!! It does not make sense since a new QLED tv model QN65Q80BAFXZX costs 24,999 mxn (~1,250 usd).Samsung Mexico did not offered a better price to repair the tv, not even a buy-back option. I was willing to repair this tv for a reasonable cost, max ~$600usd.

The screen is good quality and the sound is reasonable, however it seems that you have to connect it to the internet to actually use most of the settings to get the best visuals. If you don't the screen looks lack lustre. It has an unacceptable level of internet traffic even if you don't use the online features. The dlna setup is problematic. It struggles to play codes even if it is supported according to the specification. It disables pause/forward/rewind.Terrible App store, majority of storage filled with uninstallable Apps. Terrible choice of preinstalled apps.Cumbersome interface. Takes forever to get through to set up or disable features. Telemetry does not honour settings. Even if you disable telemetry the tv still transmits the telemetry.

This is my first time upgrading TV in about 10 years, I had a pretty high end panasonic which was great for the time, but wanted something with a smaller bezel, better colours, 4K support, and a bigger screen so I thought this samsung one looked like a good option.Setting up the TV was fine, had no problems what so ever with it, it was all very easy, the power cable is detachable which is great, the stand all went together nicely and I had no issues. When I turned on the TV and finished setting it all up and updating it (took about 15 minutes) it immediately started playing random programs from the built in samsung TV plus thing, I spent about 20 mins trying to disable it until I found out you can't.This is a very expensive item, there shouldn't be ads on it at ... MoreThis is my first time upgrading TV in about 10 years, I had a pretty high end panasonic which was great for the time, but wanted something with a smaller bezel, better colours, 4K support, and a bigger screen so I thought this samsung one looked like a good option.Setting up the TV was fine, had no problems what so ever with it, it was all very easy, the power cable is detachable which is great, the stand all went together nicely and I had no issues. When I turned on the TV and finished setting it all up and updating it (took about 15 minutes) it immediately started playing random programs from the built in samsung TV plus thing, I spent about 20 mins trying to disable it until I found out you can't.This is a very expensive item, there shouldn't be ads on it at all. I ended up just disabling the smart features all together.Another minor issue I had was the lack of a headphone port, or well, the lack of inputs all together, my 10 year old panasonic has support for pretty much everything, but this TV only has HDMI, USB, and Optical. But I will let Samsung slide on this because as tech moves on we lose these things and can't expect them to be around forever, a headphone port would be great though.Overall it's a great TV but ruined by the built in adware.
I searched for around 3 months for my new TV. Kept coming back to the Samsung q80a 55”. After reading all the bad reviews it made me a bit nervous but so glad I still bought it. Excellent picture quality, excellent sound quality, intelligent mode is great and the tv looks stunning on my wall! Hdmi 2.1 for gamers. I have had NO issues with backlight bleed whatsoever like others have suggested. When the screen goes black it actually looks like the tv has turned off but it hasn’t it’s so good. You get 2 remotes but I mainly use the smart remote which is very nice! Yes you can get a better TV if you want to spend more money but for the price of this tv especially on sale is absolutely fantastic so don’t hesitate if your thinking about getting one. Go for it!
I installed this TV about 2 weeks ago and am quite happy with it so far. I also purchased an 85" Q85A Samsung about three months ago. The features are similar, simple to register your Netflix, Disney+ and Prime accounts along with YouTube. The remote works well with the Shaw cable box and sound systems I am using. The picture quality is excellent and many adjustments are possible. The Smart Things app works well to control the TV if desired and to sign in to a third party app if necessary. I like the simple, solar charging remote, except my theater room is totally blacked out in my basement so I have to bring up that remote periodically into the sun to keep it charged (it gives you a warning before it dies so that is helpful). The only negatives I have seen so far is both sets antireflective coating is not as good as I had hoped. At night in a dark screen you can still see a lamp reflection or an overhead light reflection in some instances. The other issue I have noticed is when using the optical output to activate a sound level on a sound bar or home theater receiver, a high pitched squeal can be heard the first time you adjust the volume. It seems to go away the next time you want to adjust the volume, after the first use. Overall they are both great TV's with just a couple small items that hold back that last star for me.
My family loves going to the theaters to watch the latest blockbusters and since the pandemic limited us from going there to enjoy those movies, having this TV in our home meets and even surpasses that itch. We even now have regular movie nights to watch movie premieres. The main thing I love about the TV (aside from the size) is the amount of settings you can do to really dial in the picture quality. There are so much settings that it can overwhelm someone new, but one could just put it on Filmmaker Mode for a pretty good base and stick to that. It's very sharp and playing 4K/UHD movies are great specially in the dark. Make sure you turn off the Power Saving mode though so that it doesn't mess with your TV's brightness settings, (I do this with all TVs). The sound is decent and very good for a TV, but if you're serious about movies, consider getting a decent soundbar with a good subwoofer. There are a lot current streaming apps included and probably more that will get added, so you don't really need to get an external streaming box/stick. All the apps play in native 4K HDR (where available) which is great. There's a picture in picture which you can configure to be a split screen or PiP window. There is a game mode for video game enthusiasts that supports the latest 4K game consoles. The best part of the Smart TV functions is probably the inclusion of Samsung TV Plus, which is just free TV with a truckload of entertaining channels.Overall and Conclusion:I love this TV
I have an older samsung smart tv that i wouldnt have recommended to anyone. That led me to trying other brands that include a smart uhd 55" vizeo that is good for the kids streaming, and an LG 75" inch 4k uhd smart tv for the family room to play video games primarily which i thought was great until I decided to take advantage of a sale on this TV. I set it up and tested the 4k imax experience for movies and xbox series X games. Wow, i have no idea why I would use any other tv. This is a powerful TV that adjusts appropriately to what you are doing whether watching a movie, show, streaming, playing video games (which by the way amazing on the game mode function). Very pleased indeed with this television- pretty straight forward to set up, although takes a while to enter all the passwords etc for numerous apps (there is an online 250 page manual, so there's potentially a lot to learn when I get the time). Used to love the picture on our 11 year old Samsung plasma 55 that had just packed up- but this tv beats it by a mile. The picture quality is superb- bright, ultra sharp and with tremendous visual depth of field (a caveat- freeview non-HD channels will not overly impress, but that's the streaming providers' fault and not the that of the TV. May also need to adjust picture modes according to the type of content being presented). However, HD and 4K channels are absolutely stunning. Equally good is the sound- much improved on ... MoreVery pleased indeed with this television- pretty straight forward to set up, although takes a while to enter all the passwords etc for numerous apps (there is an online 250 page manual, so there's potentially a lot to learn when I get the time). Equally good is the sound- much improved on older flat screens, and I don't feel the need to buy a soundbar. Indeed, the whole experience of watching it is akin to trip to a private cinema.TV comes with 2 switchers- one smart, with Alexa (and others, I believe) built in, and very few buttons (which takes a bit of getting used to as it is so fast to react), and a standard one. The latter is of the usual format, but surprisingly rather cheap looking, with very small buttons cramped together. Also equally pleased that I bought it from Richer Sounds- my 'place to go' when purchasing hi fi etc- here in Plymouth. Excellent guidance from the member of staff, who was completely impartial and not at all pushy, and extremely well informed. Complete with 6 year guarantee and delivery the next day (oh, and the same price or less than the online retailers). Highly recommended. Mark
When looking for 55" TVs there are many out there to look at. When I got a chance to see the Samsung 55" Q80A I was blown away by how far the supper thin screen TV have come. The brightness and color contrast were amazing. I was hope with a QLED but when I saw the difference that the Matrix LED lighting made. Super sharp color next to nearly complete black. The Gaming mode was a great selling point for future next Gen consoles. Not the fastest refresh rate available but a vast emprovement to be able to see vital game statistics on the screen.High definition Content looks amazing and smooth. Have not gotten a chance to see a difference in HDR content.. And with upscaling even standard definition old shows have a breath of fresh new life. I enjoy watching my old favorite show so much more now.I liked that they brought back the functionality of pictures in pictures with a new twist that you can Show information from your phone. So you can be watching a show and seeing your chat with friends at the same time. I haven't had the opportunity to see if I can run 2 shows side-by-side or or watch sporting event and commentary. If you are looking to get a new television do yourself a favor and get a sound bar or surround sound system. Although the speakers on the TV are amazing that they reflectThe action on the screen by changing where the sound is coming from it still does not compare with the emergency that better sound comes with. What can I say in a Twitter size review.
