The lens is well made, similar to the Samyang 8mm 2.8 and the Samyang 12mm 2.0 for mirrorless that I have, the focus ring is very smooth, but not as hard to turn as the lenses mentioned before (which is a good thing), so very precise. The lens is sharp wide open in the center of the image! The bokeh is superb. There is some longitudinal chromatic aberration, and coma on the edges wide open

Great quality and outstanding image brightness of F/1.2 at accesable price for small sensors. Transforms to sharp 144mm lens on BMPCC, as well as 100mm eq. on GH4 and OMD series! Pure bokeh as seen in picture!

Its pretty sharp and gives nice bokeh. Its not as sharp as the Fujinon 56mm APD, which is the most similar lens Ive had to compare it to. For the price its really impressive. Focusing is not too hard, but I usually use a tripod and I take my time. So if youre gonna just handhold it, its gonna take some getting used to. The vignetting is very noticeable. I think that is because Fujifilm cameras usually have profiles that correct vignetting and distortion built in for all the Fuji lenses, but there is none for this lens. Is it durable? Its too early to tell really. Im happy with this lens. (The sample photos are bokehramas.)

This is a mighty lens. Even though it's one of the cheapest 50ies out there it can compete easily with the big boys. The lack of AF is not an issue thanks to Sony's peaking and thanks to a very smooth manual focus. I HIGHLY recommend this lens for portrait and events. Translate to field of view of a 70mm on APS-CI tried using it on an a7s as well and although there is some vignetting it is totally usable.
After using the Samyang 100mm Macro I decided to give the 50mm a try. Yes, it's a manual operation lens but if you have the time the results can be impressive with a lovely narrow depth of field.

Samyang 50mm f/1.2 UMC II - Sony E Mount
Product Description Samyang's 50mm F1.2 AS UMC CS is a wide angle manual focus photo lens for mirrorless cameras with APS-C sensor sizes. With a significantly bright F1.2 aperture, the lens creates bright, crisp images and impressive bokeh even with mirrorless cameras. The 50mm F1.2 is a multi-purpose lens, especially useful for portraits photography. Samyang's 50mm F1.2 AS UMC CS has a low F number (F1.2). allowing you to precisely control the lens when shooting under various exposure environments including relatively dark situations. This lens features 9 elements in 7 groups including 2 glass aspherical lenses (ASP) to offer high resolution throughout the image. Samyang's Ultra Multi Coating (UMC) is used to optimise the light penetration and minimises flare and ghosting. 0.28m minimum focusing distance helps to capture the object in close proximity. The lens features 9 aperture blades which are designed to be almost a full circle when the aperture is closed. This produces starlike rays clearly and beautifully. The solid frame of the lens is constructed from high-strength aluminium alloy which allows the lens to be lightweight, yet strong. A detachable petal-shaped lens hood further minimises flare and ghosting by sheltering the lens from unwanted stray light.
