I was glad to purchase this lens for a mid priced F1.4, 50mm A-mount. I like it, images are clear and sharp. I guess there are always those who will complain about a lens, but then again they probably complain about everything because they think they are so damn good. I bet if you try this lens you will like it, and the price want break the bank.

I have been looking for this lens for a while, and it has always been expensive. There is something strange about this lens that it always stays at the same price all across the world, whether in shops, Sony website, any other websites, and there have never been any real deal on it. In the beginning its price was around $450, and only now recently it dropped to $369. But not a cent less, i.e. you won't find it at $359.9 anywhere doesn't matter what. This might change in near future, but as per my two year experience on this lens price, it price will stay fixed around the globe and nobody will take a cent off of its price. Any Sony DSLR holder, who knows a little bit about the lenses knows how wonderful this 50mm f/1.4 lens is and why everybody must have this with alpha series cameras if they are serious in taking good pictures. The story goes back to Minolta times, you can read a lot about it on the Internet. This was supposedly the best prime lens from Minolta and famous for its beautiful pictures, specially when it came to portraits (now I am witness of it). I couldn't find a better deal than what this seller offered. The price of the lens was the same, as everywhere else, but I got a lot of goodies with it for free, on top of free shipment. This seller also have many other amazing deals. At one point I was thinking of getting rid of Sony and get all the new Canon stuff, which this seller was offering at an amazing deal of around $1500, for the EOS60D along with six lenses and everything else a photographer would need, (excluding a flash). I'll probably do it in near future. No other seller I saw giving away this much stuff at such an amazing price. Although the free lens case which came with it is very tight for this lens, and seller should consider including a wider lens case if at all. The very first picture from this lens on my Alpha 300 immediately proved that all what I was reading about this lens over last two years was absolutely true. Pictures was much sharper and clearer. Next few days I spent experimenting with this lens and was extremely happy with the results. Because this lens magnifies the image as its focal length is fixed at 50mm, so the kit 18-70 mm lens is not a throw away and is still required for indoor shooting, where 50mm is usually a little too magnified image. Other than that, not all the time keeping lens at f/1.4 is recommended. I have found results are better at f/2.0, and for more things to keep in focus, f/4.0 and about is good setting. However for those special cases where you really need the magic and bukeh of f/1.4, it does its job just wonderful. I also own a Sony flash, which adds a lot to the quality of photos, but now coupled with this lens, now I am able to take much better pictures than before. I hope this seller will maintain its standard, price and quality of service, and I'll definitely will consider him for future camera related purchases, whether for myself or for friends.

I use this lens on a Sony FS5 video camera, and only use it for doing video interviews in 4K.When opened up to it's max (1.4) or near it, I really can't get this lens to be crisp. Have to have a sharp image to start with...Going to sell it and upgrade to a Sony sonnar or zeiss lens and spend the money. You get what you pay for as they say

The 50 is the "normal" lens for full-frame (and 35mm cameras) because it gives about the same angle of view that the human eye provides. This lens is special because is has a large maximum aperture of 1.4 which allows use in low light and also will produce great looking out-of-focus (bokeh) effects. I'm using this lens with a Sony LA-EA3 adapter on my Sony a7r Mark II e-mount camera. I use manual focus features with this lens on my a7r.
I really like Rokinon manual prime lens. This is one of three lens I use for night photos on a full size sensor. I have three others I use for my APSC camera. For the price, these are really good. Fast lens for quick shots of the Milky Way or others.
I have had my Sony A100 SLR for over a year now and, until recently, had only used the 18-200 lens that came with it. It's a terrific lens and I have taken some wonderful landscape photos - and made some nice photo books, too. But I felt I was ready to take the next step and purchase a new lens. After much deliberation, I decided on the Sony 50mm / F1.4 lens - and I am absolutely delighted with it. The ability to use wide open aperture settings has allowed me to get some outstanding, tack-sharp shots - even when I've hand-held the camera. Of course, you can't zoom in like I'm used to - but the trade-off is well worth it. And I can always switch lenses when I need to. It will probably be a year before I can take the next step and buy another new lens for even more ...Β MoreI have had my Sony A100 SLR for over a year now and, until recently, had only used the 18-200 lens that came with it. It will probably be a year before I can take the next step and buy another new lens for even more versatility - but I am really loving THIS one in the meantime - in conjunction with my other lens, of course! And yes, as far as the camera itself goes, I really wish I had waited a little longer and saved a lot more - how I would LOVE to have the A900! The Nikon and Canon cameras are indeed awesome cameras, but the Sony is a marvelous camera too and doesn't get nearly the kudos it deserves!!!
Bought the lens barely two weeks ago and I love it. I've used mostly to shoot bands in small clubs and bars. The wide aperture is perfect for the low light conditions and the images stay sharp. Focus peaking with the Alpha 7RII helps with the manual focusing. Sturdy, fast and sharp.
Got this lens as an update from an old Minolta prime, wanted the best possible 50 for my full frame. It has excellent center sharpness, even wide open, and the corners aren't too bad either. Build quality is solid but unspectacular. Focus is fast and accurate, which is an improvement over the old. Color is on par with several of my old Minoltas(thats good)but CA very bad at 1.4-2.0 on my copy, which is disappointing. I have yet to find a lens, including Zeiss 85/1.4 that has it licked, so I guess I have to live with it for now. I was slow to convert to digital, and that remains on my wish list. Overall a good buy, certainly better than a Minolta 50/1.7 and as good of picture quality as most of my other lenses, save maybe the 100/2 and Zeiss. I am using this lens for professional video work and I can't say enough great things about this product. The build is incredible (for some, may seem heavy) but it is truly durable. The specs behind this lens are just what I needed to get a great prime lens at an affordable price. The images this lens produces are stunning, from the aperture range, to the fast auto focus, and for video pros (the de-clicked aperture control ring is a must). This brand has managed to produce incredible lenses at a cost that indie filmmakers or professional photographers can afford without sacrificing quality/output. Buy it and you won't regret it.
This lens is a great buy, low price for great quality. The build quality is excellent, feeling very solid with its all metal build and comfortable focus ring. The focusing capabilities are outstanding, with very precise measurements and relatively close minimum focusing distance. At f1.4 the image can be a little soft in the corners, but nothing so extreme that the image becomes useless, and for the price as low as it is, it's definitely a deal. Keep in mind this lens is fully manual focus so if you are a sports or nature photographer, this lense is not for you. Overall I'm very satisfied with my purchase, and recommend this lens strongly. DONT FORGET CROP FACTOR

Samyang 50mm F1.2 As UMC CS Lens For Sony E
An ideal portrait-length prime, the Sony A mount 85mm f/1.4 AS IF UMC from Rokinon pairs a bright, fast f/1.4 maximum aperture with a short-telephoto focal length to suit portraiture and other applications where shallow depth of field is desired. This manual focus lens incorporates one hybrid aspherical element to control chromatic aberrations for increased clarity and even sharpness and illumination. An Ultra Multi-Coating has also been applied to lens elements to reduce lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color neutrality. This lens is also characterized by an internal focusing design, which maintains the overall length during use, as well as an 8-blade rounded diaphragm for a smooth bokeh quality. This 85mm f/1.4 lens features a Sony A mount, and is compatible with full-frame sensors or APS-C sensors, where it will provide a 127.5mm equivalent focal length. A fast f/1.4 maximum aperture benefits working in difficult lighting conditions and also enables extensive control over your focus position for shallow depth of field shooting. One hybrid aspherical element helps to control chromatic aberrations and distortions for increased clarity and sharpness. An Ultra Multi-Coating has been applied to lens elements to reduce lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color fidelity. This manual focus lens features an internal focus design to maintain the overall lens length during use and the front filter mount does not rotate when focusing to better enable working with polarizers, graduated ND, and other filter types that require precise positioning. A rounded eight-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out-of-focus quality when using selective focus or shallow depth of field techniques.
