While going with a prime reduces flexibility, I would argue that if you're going to bother taking your standard zoom off to put an ultra-wide on, you're probably going to be around 12mm most of the time anyways. This lens is relatively inexpensive for an ultra-wide, and is nice and compact. It focuses quickly, and the 2.0 aperture is great for low light. Image quality is very strong; pixel peepers can probably find fault, but for hobbyists like me, it is more than adequate. I think this lens is useful in many situations, and is just very practical.

The best lense for that price
I had the manual version of this lens and was excited to get it with auto focus. It is mounted to a Sony a5100 on a helmet. It is wider than the manual version and therefore doesn't sit flat. I put the camera in a small rig and problem solved. Auto focus makes my job so much easier. Excellent lens.
This is one of the most wonderful lens that I ever have, excellent for Architecture and interiorism.
I really like the rendering this lens produces on my A6600. Samyang did a nice job with the new lens coatings. A nice improvement on the former manual version.

I bought this for real estate photography, looking to replace my over-priced, over-flawed Sony 10-18. No regrets at all other than the loss of 2mm, from 10mm on Sony to 12 on Samyang.Distortion is there but correctable in Lightroom. I get the best results importing without any lens profile since there isn't a profile for this lens yet in Lightroom.In my experience the AF is only slightly slower than the 10-18, it is a good bit sharper, and has way less optical issues, and f2.0 vs. 4.0.Very satisfied. Highly recommended if you can live without an ultra-wide zoom with its inherent compromises and flaws.
