This card is fast and it doubles the storage capacity of my previous XQD card. I also like the stiffer case used here. SD cards and the older CF cards had some flex to them which sometimes caused problems. I am very pleased with this card. It fits in an XQD card slotr but may not work with older readers. If you are using both XQD and CF Express cards with a reader, make sure the reader will handle both types of cards. A problem was reported by one user when attempting to read XQD cards in an off-brand reader which was supposed to read both types. In summary the increased storage and speed of the CF Express type B card is a welcome improvement and works well in compatible devices. It is well worth the money.

This is the CF or Compact Flash Express card or CF Expess for the modern mirrorless digital camera. These replaced those used in DSLR cameras.I'm using these where the older Compact Flash cards used in full frame DSLR cameras would be accepted before SD cards became all the rage. If you switched to mirrorless and need speed, you must use a modern CFEXPRESS card not the old Compact Flash. This card works in my Z in conjunction with high speed SD for dual writing of images. This card has the speed and ability to work in conjunction with dual write cameras. You can't lose with this solution.

I shoot mostly still photos of people and when I recently purchased a new camera, after reading that the Extreme Pro cards were gradually replacing my XQD cards, I picked up a new SanDisk 256GB card. The stats are impressive -- over 3 times faster than my Sony XQD'sI really doubt that I'll ever need it with still photography. However, if I decide to do some 8K video, I'll be ready. My only complaint: My first shoot using the Extreme PRO, I plugged it into the Sony reader on my Mac and.....Nothing! Please be aware that you need a card reader made for the Extreme PRO cards. I switched to direct download from the camera -- a nuisance. I now have a (generic) reader that handles both kinds of cards.Happy shooting.

I recently purchased the 64GB version of the card. While itclaims a read speed of 200MB/s, that requires a proprietary read mode which needs a card reader that they make, this also means that devices such as a camera will never be able to utilize those speeds. For my testing, I used a Transcend RDF8 SD card reader, which will not support their proprietary read mode, thus it will be only showing performance under the UHS I standard. This means reads and writes in the 80-90MB/s range. The primary goal of my testing was to determine the write speed consistency, since there are many cards on the market that will list a 90MB/s write speed, but in some cases, they will use low bin TLC or even QLC NAND, and you will end up with a card that will only maintain 90MB/s for ... MoreI recently purchased the 64GB version of the card. The primary goal of my testing was to determine the write speed consistency, since there are many cards on the market that will list a 90MB/s write speed, but in some cases, they will use low bin TLC or even QLC NAND, and you will end up with a card that will only maintain 90MB/s for a short while before it run out of the pSLC region and moves to the slower NAND. If you only do basic tests such as crystal disk mark or ATTO, then such cards can score high but they will perform poorly as the card is filled. For the Sandisk Extreme Pro cards, all of the ones I have tried so far, including this one have used NAND where whether doing an initial write or overwriting non-TRIM NAND, they are able to maintain their advertised speeds from a 0-100% fill, which is what I look for in any card I purchase. As we can see from the benchmarks, the cards maintainedconsistent reads and writes without allowing down even as the card was filled.Overall this card is able to properly saturate a UHS I interface, and thus offer the full storage performance a UHS I device is capable of, especially cameras. PS, there is no benefit from using a USH II card in a UHS I slot.
I was glad to receive this as a free accessory with my new Sony RX100M7 camera, but discovered a glitch that cost me many hours to figure out.Even two B&H Photo tecs were unable to help with my Samsung Tab S5e not reading files right from the camera. Big problem, not being able to transfer pics and movies from the camera, but simple answer. The Sony manual says to format the new memory card in the camera, which I did. The camera and card worked, but my tablet wasn't compatible with it. So, after much trial and error, I reformatted the memory card in the tablet. All works good now, for both camera and tablet.
Like most SanDisk products, their POST2017 CFast memory cards are EXCELLENT performers, robust and reliable. While this was highly frustrating and worrisome and lead directly to SanDisk developing the goofy and cumbersome sanitization procedure a crude and tedious workaround, THESE PROBLEMS WERE FULLY RESOLVED BY LATE 2017, AND HENCE, ANY SANDISK CFAST CARDS MANUFACTURED IN 2018 AND NEWER ARE FLAWLESS IN CAMERAS FOR WHICH THEY ARE COMPATIBLE. AND HERES THE REALLY GREAT NEWS IF YOURE WILLING TO FORGIVE SANDISK FOR THEIR INITIAL BLUNDER AND EXTEND JUST A LITTLE BIT MORE TIME AND EFFORT, YOU CAN FIND COMPLETE SATISFACTION AND BLISS, AS SANDISK WILL REPLACE COMPLETELY FREEOFCHARGE YOUR PRE2018 CFAST CARDS WITH THE NEWEST MODELS, WHICH WORK FLAWLESSLY AND AS ADVERTISED. HERES WHAT I DID, AND IT WORKED1. Contact SanDisk BY PHONE tollfree, and explain that your old Sandisk Cfast Cards DO NOT WORK, EVEN USING THE SANDISKRECOMMENDED SANITIZATION PROCEDURE2. Youll be asked to email SanDisk CLEAR IMAGES of your defective CFast cards I used my cell phone to do this. Be sure to capture a clean image of the SERIAL NUMBER on the thin edge of your defective CFast card. You may need to pay careful attention to your lighting conditions to ensure that the tiny inscribed SERIAL NUMBER on the edge of the card is legible. If your CFast card doesnt have a clearly marked serial number on the thin edge of the card, dont worry about it. Just take photos of the front AND BACK of the card anyway. This procedure sending photos of your defective cards is merely an attempt by SanDisk to prevent folks from sending in counterfeit cards for replacement with real ones3. The SanDisk representative on the phone will give you explicit instructions for how and where to EMAIL these images ALONG WITH A PHYSICAL ADDRESS TO SEND YOUR ACTUAL DEFECTIVE CFAST CARDS. Follow these simple instructions faithfully dont worry about the OEM plastic clamshell cases for the cards they dont want those back4. In 24 weeks, youll receive BRAND NEW SanDisk CFast cards in the identical quantity and GB capacity of that or those which you returned for replacement. I returned TWO 2 early2017 SanDisk 64GB CFast cards, and I received TWO 2 BRAND NEW mid2018 SanDisk CFast cards in the mail 18 days later5. It doesnt matter where from whom you purchased your OEM SanDisk CFast cards, BUT YOU WILL BE ASKED TO PROVIDE AN IMAGE OF YOUR SALES RECEIPT, proving that you or someone else actually and legitimately purchased the card in the first place. BH has ARCHIVES of past purchases that go back wellbefore CFast cards were invented, as do many other reputable vendors. My 2yearold archived shipping inventory from BH was accepted by SanDisk as a credible receipt of purchase. If you cannot locate sufficient proof of purchase or receipt did you try your credit card issuer, explain your situation to the SanDisk representative on the phone, and ask to return the cards for replacement anyway. If youre a skilled negotiator and you get an empathetic rep on the phone, you may get lucky.Postscript yes, it was disappointing indeed, highly frustrating that SanDisk originally released these CFast cards before they were actually ready for prime time and yes, it was frustrating having to go through the trouble of reaching out to SanDisk to coordinate the returnreplacement process, and then WAIT for 23 weeks for my new replacement cards to arrive. HOWEVER...all that being said, the bottom line for me really is this I now have two 2 SanDisk CFast cards that work EXACTLY as advertised and EXACTLY as I expect them to work EXTREMELY FAST read times EXTREMELY FAST write times and CONFIDENCE that these cards will continue to deliver safe, secure, reliable performance under heavy professional use, as indeed they have for about a year now.I use these CFast cards in Canon 1DX and 1DX MarkII cameras, and theyve worked FLAWLESSLY every time. I use both a SanDiskbranded and a Transcendbranded portable USBpowered CFast Card Reader both purchased here at BH I use these with a 2016 Apple MacBook Pro computer running OS High Sierra 10.13.6. Ive had no issues using both Apple and other USBCtoUSBA converters the Sanho HyperDrive DUO USBC Hub has been particularly excellent and highly versatile also available here at BH.Along with many PREVIOUSLY valid complaints, there are a few grossly unfair reviews on this page from folks who didnt understand exactly what they were purchasing i.e. folks who INCORRECTLY ASSUMED that CFast cards, which appear to be physically identical to Compact Flash cards, would work in their Compact Flashcompatible cameras like Canon 5series and older Canon 1series DSLRs. REST ASSURED, CANON AND NIKON USERS THE 2018ANDNEWER SANDISK CFAST CARDS WILL WORK EXACTLY AS ADVERTISED. While its very possible that you might unwittingly purchase a pre2018 SanDisk CFast card from a retailer that doesnt move much of this product a pre2018 CFast card has been sitting on his shelf for more than 18months, this is not a problem when purchasing from BH, as ALL of the SanDisk CFast cards theyre now selling are the latestgeneration 2018andnewer cards, WHICH MEANS THEYRE THE UPDATED, PROPERLY FUNCTIONING CARDS from SanDisk. THESE CARDS DO NOT REQUIRE THE GOOFY, RIDICULOUS, AND TEDIOUS SANDISK SANITIZATION PROCEDURE THAT THE PRE2018 CARDS DID. These newer CFast cards 2018 and newer are completely maintenancefree and perform flawlessly and reliably, just as most of us have experienced and come to expect from other SanDisk card types e.g. CF and SD.IF, LIKE ME, YOU PURCHASED A SANDISK CFAST CARD THAT WAS MANUFACTURED PRIOR TO LATE 2017 AND YOUR CARD HAS BEEN GIVING YOU HEADACHES OR YOURE JUST NOT CONFIDENT IN ITS RELIABILITY, SIMPLY FOLLOW THE 4STEPS I OUTLINED ABOVE, AND YOULL SOON BE HAPPILY USING A BRANDNEW, LATESTGENERATION, PERFECTLY FUNCTIONING REPLACEMENT SANDISK CFAST CARD, JUST AS I AMI do not work for BH nor for SanDisk. Im just another passionate photographer trying to get the best from my gear, like most of you who are reading this...
I bought this because I thought I lost my one-and-only other CFexpress card, (with about 3,000 vacation photos and a few hundred videos on it, thanks for asking). But then, after receiving this one, my prodigal card returned to me. Wheeew! It too, is a SanDisk Extreme Pro CFexpress card and has never failed me. So, in spite of so little time using this new one, I'm going ahead and giving this one 5 stars based on my old one.My old one, BTW, is only 128GB. In a camera pumping out 45MB RAW photos, it lasted a full week in New Zealand and almost all of our first full day in Australia. Now, with 4X that much memory in this new card, my camera will probably NEVER have to switch over to its second, back-up card slot! But then, that's a separate concern: If this new, ... MoreI bought this because I thought I lost my one-and-only other CFexpress card, (with about 3,000 vacation photos and a few hundred videos on it, thanks for asking). So, with the recent drop in price for these, I will probably invest in several more smaller, 128MB cards. I'll stick with this same brand, of course.
Hard to add to reviews of a disk used by so many with so many reviews, both technical (bench tests even) and field-notes style. One of my go-to disks since I switched from CF card-based cams some years back.
