Was gifted this for Christmas this year and had it set up the next afternoon. Took less than an hour to get it set up with bike attached and I am not someone who typically does my own work on my bike so removing the rear wheel was a new experience.Clear instructions, easy to follow. The most confusing part was trying to understand how to affix the included speed/cadence sensor to the rear wheel hub. The instructions for this are small, and images were not helpful but once I figured out the steps, it was easy.Was up and riding a couple training rides on Rouvy, using the included free month trial code, by mid afternoon.First impression is that I will be happily using this daily at least.

I find it works well for me doing structured training on Zwift.Pros - Out of the box it’s easy to set up and quick to get onto the bike and Zwift. It’s quite small so takes up little space in the house as I don’t have a dedicated training room.Cons - I was a bit irritated to find I needed to buy an additional cadence sensor to get the full benefit of Zwift training. It can be done with only the speed sensor though. It can also be a bit unstable when you’re giving it the beans, perhaps if you’re training to be the next Cav you’ll need something beefier. For us mere mortals this will work just fine.

Overall very much like this trainer. It's relatively quiet, intuitive to use, smooth ride and feels stable. The biggest downside I have found are that with the Saris thru axel adapter (purchased from Saris directly), it is REALLY hard to lock and unlock your bike from the trainer. I am not physically strong enough to do it, and had to get my boyfriend to do it every time. This was a inconvenient because it meant I always had to coordinate with him when I wanted to use the trainer. His bike has a quick released and the lock/unlock mechanism with the skewer worked much better. I have a Norco Section and am using the 142x12 Thru Axle Adapter; 1.00 & 1.75 Thread Pitch x 1 SKU: 9707T, which according to the Saris Q&A and the Robert Axel project, is the correct size. Putting this together was frustrating to say the least. Once together pretty easy to get going. Annoying that I have to change tires everytime I want to use it. ALSO YOU CANT SHIFT GEARS. Had to watch a million youtube bc the packet had no detail. Good luck.
The trainer works easy enough setting up/connecting to your bike, however the cadence/speed sensor was confusing as not all apps work with both speed and cadence. This was unclear and took a long time to figure out via the email support team. There are no calls being accepted with customer support nor the store, so it took me hours of research and days to finally get up and running once I figured out how the sensor worked differently.The fluid squared must be recently new because the app support teams did not know what it was/it was not an option on the biking apps. It does work with Peloton, which is great! Overall Im satisfied, but wonder if I couldnt have achieved the same end result for cheaper.

It also told me not to be misled by Saris' strong warnings about NOT using the spindle. My bike, a Grater Charge does not use the spindle, and an email to Saris confirmed this. When everything was assembled, it turned out that the cadence/speedometer device was not compatible with the Saris app on my iphone, and that the cadence/speedometer bands did not fit around the wheel hub. Due to social distancing measures, you can only reach Saris support for this product (one person, Megan) by email. Trainer is great and easy to setup. However getting the sensor to work has been a nightmare, it calibrates but won't sync. Been talking to Pushys & Saris for over a month and still no resolution. Save your money and purchase the non "smart" trainer
Please overall but since I used a Mag trainer before this I am able to compare. I do not find any advantage to the fluid trainer. With the bike I am using, the noise level is the same and I don't find any greater resistance available. This mountain bike has rougher tires, but the noise is not troublesome in my garage. I was hoping for more resistance than the mag trainer for some reason, perhaps based on reviews I read, but I find the fluid trainer to be similar. AS for a more "road like feel" I don't know what this is and again find it identical to the Mag trainer. Easy to assemble, easy to fit bike in frame. Reliable after two months use.

Clamping the bike in to the unit is a simple one motion process and the bike is firmly held. The wheel tension knob is genius! Just turn it until it clicks and you have the correct pressure on your tire. I have owned other fluid trainers, but this has to be the smoothest and most consistent I have ever used. It truly provides linear resistance that gets more challenging as your speed increases. I have not tried it with the Saris training tire yet, but the noise level with a standard road tire was minimal.
