I used this to avoid multiple trips to a stream while camping. The fill lid is very strong and the mouth is large enough to collect a whole gallon quickly. The carry handle is very sturdy and makes it easy to carry. As usual with Sawyer, the plastic is very strong and didn't leak at all. This saved me a lot of trips back and forth. The drawbacks: the fill spout is so large that the bladder doesn't fold flat which takes up space in my pack. Since I hang it up for use throughout the day, silt from the stream settles in the filter spout and almost immediately clogs up my filter and I have to backwash it often. It is too large to squeeze and the gravity method takes forever so I had to pour water into my smaller squeeze pack and filter with that. This is extremely difficult to do without spilling unless you hang the bladder or have a buddy help. Very cumbersome shape when full and difficult to pack. This really came in handy but only if you plan to stay near a water source. If you plan to carry water to a camp without water source, you will have to rearrange your pack to make it fit. Since there is no good way to attach it to the outside of a pack, inside is your only option.

Packs small enough and light enough that if you're not right by your water source, this will keep you wet from pitch to strike without multiple trips.
Perfect size great
Purchased this product to use hiking the Philmont Scout Camp in NM. Dry camps along the trail warrant the need for carrying larger amounts of water. We used 5 gallon collapsible containers and they were ungainly. I wanted to try something smaller, that would allow us to disperse the weight, yet be sturdy enough for the pack.Went on a practice hike over the weekend and filled two of these. Both had the same issue. the lower, smaller, valve didn't seal completely and wiggled loose during the hike. This resulted in a slow leakage of water into my pack. I can probably solve this by inserting them upside down (handle down) into my pack, but it is more convenient to have the handle up to pull them out when needed. I think my suggestion would be a way to have a firmer ... MorePurchased this product to use hiking the Philmont Scout Camp in NM. I think my suggestion would be a way to have a firmer seal on the small cap, possibly even the large one. Other than that, it is very sturdy and I look forward to bringing these on the trek.
