These pads are awesome. They have multiple lash points through their Daisy chain technology that allows you to mount just about anything, slim or wide, to your roof. They go up and come off fast too. Perfect for our Prius and a quick kayak or surf trip without sacrificing mpg 24/7 like you can with hard racks.

I got these in a large as a quick fix to carry kayaks and canoes on the flat roof of my Subaru (typical, I know). I only drove about 40 miles round trip with a top speed of maybe 60, but they held the boat on top just fine. I used some 20' NRS straps (the only ones I had available) to secure the kayak. I was a little nervous because I couldn't really cinch down the NRS straps as much as I wanted to without denting the roof of my car, but some 550 cord tied to the front and back made me feel more secure. But after 20 miles on the highway and in town, the boat didn't move an inch, and that's what really matters. The racks themselves tied down great, and the material used on the bottom is really pretty sticky even in the rain. Shipping only took a few days. Have used these three times now with a 14ft Old Town Guide canoe. Was looking into extra straps to use in addition to this soft rack, for the front and maybe rear for more security but after the first couple of trips I knew that wouldn't be neccsary.Took it on the highway each trip and saw absolutely no movement of canoe during travel with speeds of 50 to 55 with trips lasting a few hours. One trip towards end did kind ofnotice a very slight movement. So pulled over and checked and saw I didn't properly weave the straps on one side through rack all the way but even with that I could tell there was no chance of losing my boat which was great for a novice like me to discover. Quick adjustments and I was on my way again, and again saw no ... MoreShipping only took a few days. Have used these three times now with a 14ft Old Town Guide canoe. Many years ago I had the original soft racks that hooked to the car gutter. I was in need of a rack recently to move a small kayak and saw these at freak Sports. Easy to use and very secure. Beats my old ones hands down. They spread the load well and I experienced no flapping or strap buzzing. A great purchase.
Perfect for our large car. Very quick to install and use.
Excellent roof racks, great for our kayaks, they fit nicely on top of the hatchback. They can be installed super quick. Love them
I bought these for my 2020 Rav 4 and they have been great. I’ve moved a few things including a heavy hardwood bedhead and the roof racks performed really well. Set them up in 2 minutes, use your extra tie-downs to secure your item, and away you go. I drove 20k @ 100k/hr with the bedhead and didn’t hear any wind noise, which surprised me. No scratching on the roof of my car or sunroof. I think it is worth paying extra to get these instead of the smaller Seak ones. I recommend them.
The curve of my vehicle roof did not work well with this. And I should have gotten the large. This one was to small. Measure carefully before purchasing.
These racks are really sturdy and arrived to Hawaii quickly. I had to return them since they were not quite wide enough for my Malibu tandem kayak. Since the foam is tapered at the ends, the useful portion of the rack is a few inches shorter than the actual rack length. I probably should have known this, but these were my first racks! Moosejaw didn’t sell the large size (although I later saw the regular size racks mislabeled “large” on the website), so I ended up returning them and buying the large size from another vendor.
I’ve been using these for about six months now, always removing them from my car after I paddle. They are well made and get the job done.As the instructions warn, if it rains the straps will wick water into your vehicle. Also, as with all roof racks, you must tie down the bow and stern of your boat directly to your vehicle.
