Sea to Summit Traveller Tri Sleeping Bag (Regular)

(171 reviews)

The Sea to Summit Traveler TrI Sleeping Bag adapts to your preferred method of exploration. At a temperature rating of 50 F, its a perfect choice for summer camping, a liner in the colder spring and autumn weeks, and a year-round option for hostel hoppers or couch surfers extraordinaire. Its slightly tapered design reduces a bit of weight and bulk for those backpackers obsessed with lightweight logistics. The Traveler TrI is stuffed with 750+ loft Ultra-Dry Down, a water-repellent down that reduces the negative effects that moisture has on down by retaining 60% more loft and absorbing 30% less moisture compared to untreated down. If your travel buddy happens to share your taste in sleeping bags, then zip together your Travelers and enjoy an old-fashioned sleepover. Even when unzipped completely, a single large-sized bag can conveniently cover two people as a light comforter. When the mercury drops unexpectedly, cinch the foot and collar drawcord to maximize the bag's heat insulation. For the lazy campers out there, the bag can be entirely reversed on the tail end of multiple-day trips, just like your shirts before laundry day. Stuff the Traveler into its Ultra-Sil compression bag when traveling from site to site and stuff it into the laundry bag when you run out of sides to reverse.

BEST LIGHTWEIGHT BAG EVER

I LOVE this bag. It is so light with everything I need and no frills. It comes with a small compression bag that fits perfectly and is easy to travel with. The bag even has a flap that I can grab onto when I remove the sleeping bag from the stuff sack. I have used it almost every night since I bought it. I like to synch the foot chord and use the rest of it like a blanket. On colder nights I add a blanket on top and together they are perfect. On warm nights, this bag is the anwer. I really do LOVE it. Oh! And when I pull it out of the compression bag, it doesn't take long to puff back up. It's my favorite sleeping bag EVER.

Doesn't quite fill any of the niches I hoped it would

I bought this as a warm weather top quilt to my hammock set up. I have a very warm underquilt and don't need much warmth on top. I am not so impressed and have named this my 'indoor' quilt. When you hold this up to the light, most baffles have big empty places with no down. Even when I spend a few minutes trying to spread them out... The open design is cool, but not that functional. The only time the quilt isn't 1/3 zipped and tied at one end is when I want to sleep two people under this. I ended up getting a cottage industry quilt that has no zippers and filled baffles and I love it. The only time I can risk taking a quilt that doesn't have a consistent warm profile is when I am travelling and sleeping indoors. Highest quality, but too small.

Like I said, Sea to Summit seem to make their stuff to the highest standard. The Traveller TrI is incredibly light and packs small, all the while giving some good warmth on those summer nights. I didn't get to test it below the 70s and it delivers. The inner material felt a tad... synthetic, perhaps the water-resistant finish (such an important feature.)However, I'm 5'10'', a bit wide in the shoulders, and love to sprawl out and sleep on my stomach, which only works in the wider-variety mummy bags. I'm also a bit of a Goldilocks for temperature, and to this effect the Traveller's foot-cord opening is absolutely perfect. In the end, I returned it strictly for its size. A more compact sleeper will probably find it ideal. If it fits you, I'd recommend it.

3 October 2022

I now have both the TR1 (50 deg) and TR2 (30 deg) versions. Purchased the TR1 for Summer hammock camping as it seems to be a great mix of quilt/blanket/bag. The zipper and cinch cords make this into almost anything you want, without adding too much weight. Great warmth to weight ratio and I think a good value for the money. I will be zipping the two together for those really cold nights. Only downside to that is the inside on one will have to face out, but that won't affect the warmth/loft. I have slept with the TR1 as an overquilt down to a confirmed 46 deg in shorts, long socks, T-shirt, and part way through the night added fleece top, mainly to keep my face warm.

It's amazing, just too small - exchanging for long
31 January 2023

This sleeping bag is incredibly light and absolutely perfect for my upcoming Camino. However, it's too small. I chose the regular in order to save on some grams of weight - but I did not anticipate the "width" to be that much smaller as well. I can barley fit my arms inside. I am exchanging this for the long - which I now read in the details has a wider fit - in addition to just being longer. For reference, I am 5'6 and 200 lbs. It's a great product and very multi-functional as it can be a quilt, blanket, sleeping bag and teenie tiny to fit into my 25liter pack. I am giving it 4 stars because when you hold it up to the light, the down feathers do not fill every spot of the bag - so it looks a little skimpy . I have yet to try it outdoors, but indoors it's warm enough.

Loving the flexibility of this little bag
26 June 2022

The compressed size and weight are very appealing. But what I like about this product over a standard quilt is that I can use it as a sleeping bag of sorts. Unzip and use it as a blanket, or zip it when the weather gets chilly and make a bag. It even has bungees on top and bottom to seal out drafts on windy nights or leave the bungees undone and give your feet some breathing room. I have taken it on three trips now and so far impressed with the durability, and flexibility. I am not exactly kind to my gear, but all my Sea to Summit gear has treated me well over the years, including this little guy. I bought the 50F version and have used it down to 50 no problem. Good summer and fringe season bag.

Perfect ultra light bag for warmer nights
16 November 2021

This is an excellent ultra light sleeping bag, but that’s easy for me to say because I specifically sought this one out. I needed an ultra light bag that packed small for multi-day long-distance trail runs. I like in Eastern Canada, so the 10C rating is important for those cooler summer nights or late spring/early fall. Everything about the sleeping bag is great from the construction to the quality of the design, stitch, and fill. One of the best sleeping bags your money can buy. The only beef I have is that when it arrived and I stuffed it into the compression sack it came with, it was not quite as tiny as the manufacturer’s picture indicated. It’s still one of the smallest for the quality/function, and I probably still would have bought it had I known, but the ... MoreThis is an excellent ultra light sleeping bag, but that’s easy for me to say because I specifically sought this one out. This is what I've been looking for
19 June 2022

Camping in Missouri during the spring/summer months can be pretty muggy inside a tent. I purchased this piece after a pretty uncomfortable 2 nights on a warm muggy spring campout with a group of 4th graders. This Traveller Sleeping Bag and Blanket should be the solution for our mid-west camping weather. I purchased it based on reviews and the description - also like my feet free at night.Based on my purchase, my sister purchased one for her husband.I really like Sea to Summits approach to outdoor gear and find myself using more and more of it for a good nights sleep.

Very satisfied
11 June 2022

I purchased both the 50 and the 30 degree bags.It is very lightweight and compact, although it's slightly heavier than advertised. The quality, fit and finish is excellent. The only knit picking thing I could say is that the stuff sack for the 50 degree bag is too small. Also, I contacted the sea to summit manufacturer based in US and I got eRead more about review stating Great qualityxcellent customer service from them. I am confident that if I ever had issues with the product I would get all the support I need. I most certainly recommend the product as well as the brand.

24 July 2022

i’ve got to say i was a little disappointed by the narrow foot box area which makes this feel very mummyish but i guess the zipper down there makes up for it. while it is a versatile and light sleeping bag- i may try to re-sell it as it it seems to me to be a very expensive version of a simple down quilt with a zipper on it. i already have a sleeping bag liner that i’ve sewn an inexpensive down quilt into- and this bag isn’t much better frankly- though i expect the quality of the down might be different. i wanted to really love this- and may use it yet, but i’m not sure the price tag is warranted. sorry sea to summit i usually love your products!
