This compression sack does exactly what it’s supposed to - compress. It does so with 4 evenly spaced straps. Even though this is sil-nylon (a bonus that it’s water resistant for my quilt), it compresses quite easily. My quilt fills it full prior to compression and this allows synching it down fully. Quite the space savings in my pack - I may get another just so I could put 2 sleeping bags/quilts in the same space 1 used to be.

Lightweight, high quality construction that makes packing SO MUCH BETTER! I've used the 13L compression sack for hiking AND for travel packing. Despite its lightweight feel, it is incredibly durable and has made it far easier to travel with clothing and/or other soft items in a more streamlined way. Saved me from having to check a bag on a flight and allowed me to travel with just my backpack. Love the product and will likely invest in another smaller compression sack for convenience.

I got these for a beach vacay, with the hopes of compressing all my clothes, swim suits, etc to avoid a checked bag. I haven't gone on the trip yet, but I did test how many clothes it could stuff using clothes I had piled up in my hamper. I was very impressed, it could definitely hold more than a weeks outfits. the straps felt very durable. I was using my whole body weight and pulling as tight as I could, and the straps still felt like they weren't gonna budge. I'm very excited to be taking these on my trip, I'm looking forward to not having a huge mess of clothes and being able to comfortably pack other things in my carry on. Looking forward to using these on future trips!

3 weeks away with only a backpack, these sacks do what they say they will. I refuse to pay for luggage or carry-on when flying so I decided to give these a try, they did not disappoint. I was confused about the sizing and originally ordered two 5 liter, one for shirts & one for pajamas/socks/undergarments. I didn't realize that you can order a variety pack so on the road I purchased an 8 liter for my pants. To put in context I packed 5 light weight pants, 5 shorts, 6 tops, 5 socks & a bathing suit. I also purchased 2 long sleeve shirts while away that IWas able to stow in the pack. Along with the 3 summer dresses in a zip lock, I had everything that I could possibly need. Most wrinkles fell out after a day of unpacking.
Disclaimer: I have not used the Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil (STS) size large compression sack as of 8/15/23. However, this review compares the STS sack to the discontinued Outdoor Research (OR) Ultra-Light or Helium Compression Sack which I have used. Personally, I prefer the OR sack because it was both larger (35L) compared to the STS (30L) size large that I bought (although 35L is available) and used a heavier sil-nylon (70D versus 30D). Further, the OR sack had a built-in storage/travel pouch that is cool! On the downside, the OR sack is a little heavier 7.04 oz versus 3.3 oz. Additionally, both the OR and the STS sacks are not seem sealed; thus are only water resistant and not water proof. Still, I prefer the sil-nylon compression sack to the polyurethane coated (PU) compression sacks because they will not delaminate with repeated washings. Just be sure to avoid excessive sunlight. Overall, both products are fine for light-weight compression sacks for sleeping bags. Further, the STS sack is the only one still on the market.
This compression sack is more than adequate for my needs! When I went on a three-day hiking trip in chilly weather, I had to pack more stuff than I could have possibly carried. When I purchased this compression sack, I thought I would use it to stuff my down underquilt into my pack so that more room would be available for the gear. To my surprise, the sack worked incredibly well to contain and compress my underquilt, keeping it dry during the two days of rain I had! With my other hammocking gear and clothes, I will most definitely be buying more of these compression sacks!
Light and durable. Pretty standard compression sack. Easily held my food and such for a 3 night backpacking trip. Used it as my bear bag and slung it up into a tree. No damage or abrasions. Seems to be very light but has proven to be very durable. I have gone cheap on dry bags and compression bags in the past. Very glad that I spent the extra few bucks on this one.
Bought this to replace an Ultra-Sil Evac Compression Dry Bag that I lost. Didn't realize that they'd replaced that product with a separate dry bag line and this Ultra-Sil Compression bag was different. But for my needs, it's better. No roll top, the compression lid top is hinged one one side and there's a buckle on one of the compression straps, so it's much easier to close properly without solving a knot puzzle or getting twisted straps.
I purchased one of each of these packs for my daughter and son in law for Christmas because they are frequent travelers who like to contain their luggage to carry ons and a backpack each, especially when traveling internationally. They also go skiing a couple times a year and on that trip they have to pack very bulky jackets, ski pants, sweaters and lots of layers of clothes. They have not traveled with them yet, but they did do an experiment with stuffing one of them and they were amazed at what they were able to pack and how small they were to shrink the sack down to! They can't wait to use them next month for a ski trip. I have now decided to buy one for myself.
This is a fantastic item! As a chronic overpacker on shorter trips where I may need multiple options on some days (think, a workout outfit AND a nice outfit later in day), this compression sack was perfect for me to fit extra leggings and tops into my luggage that I otherwise wouldn’t have had room for. As I look forward to my next trip which will 2.5 weeks long, I know this sack is going to help me get more into my trusty little suitcase, which is actually a carryon size. The pack is very well constructed and I feel confident it will last a long time.
