Shimano Curado DC 150 Casting Reels This is the reel that will change freshwater bass fishing forever! Using Shimano's legendary Curado low profile casting reel as a building block, Shimano has added a DC (digital control) automatic brake system to prevent backlash and, at the same time increase casting distance and accuracy to the maximum. This reel will decrease frustrations and increase enjoyment when you fish, whether you're a master angler or just a beginner wanting to get more involved in bait casting. Less thumbing, longer casts, greater accuracy, lots more fish! Built on the Shimano and Curado legacy of durability, dependability, versatility, and innovation the Shimano Curado DC (digital control) low profile casting reels have truly created a paradigm shift in fishing. With a price point under $250 these reels set the bar higher than it has ever been set for the competition. Inside the DC control is a microcomputer that monitors spool speed 1,000 times per second and applies this information to create the perfect amount of brake. This means almost no backlash, and, no frustration. Conclusion: You owe it to yourself to experience this reel. And trouble free casting. And more fun on the water!

Awesome reel

This is an amazing reel. It maximizes casting distance and does a tremendous job preventing backlashes. I have tried to purposely backlash it and never did. It is a great reel to start leaning how to cast a baitcaster. You can cast a 1/8 crankbait on a moderate heavy fast action rod probably 30 feet, where with a regular baitcaster it wouldn’t go 10 unless you have lottery winning luck. As for the negative review not to bash Tony but he probably didn’t set up the baitcaster right. It does make noise but that is the computer chip inside and I know me and numerous other people like the noise. There are few setting you have to adjust in order to get the rod ready, in fact I have only adjusted the dial for my line type and the spool adjustment knob. Tight lines!

Believe everything you read about these DC reels, they really are that good. I was hesitant in buying a Curado DC. I suspected that the digital control might have been a gimmick but enough reviews said otherwise so I bought one. And WOW, these things are just crazy, I’m definately going to buy another one. Tried mine out by casting a 10g hardbody lure into a 22klm/hr south easterly. I did not thumb the spool at all and guess what?…… NO BACKLASH. Over and over again, no backlash. And this was with the setting on both 4 and 2. Before using the reel you just need to make sure that the spool tension is tight enough so that there is no sideways movement in the spool. I had mine set so that the 10g lure would barely drop when the thumb bar was pressed down. Amazing reel, ... MoreBelieve everything you read about these DC reels, they really are that good. At this price point there is no better reel out there, Shimano hit a homerun here. The Curado can even give some reels double it's price a run for the money. The DC braking system allows this reel to be enjoyed by even beginners into the world of bait casters, and once you dial in a bait caster, you will never look at a spinning reel again. If your on the fence about this reel, we'll get off of it, it is an amazing reel.I'm using mine with a 7'1" MojoBass MH Fast, and I am having a field day with it!

Curado 150 DC HG Corrosion
5 March 2023

Bought the Curado 150 DC HG New from BCF. Used frequently in salt water and cleaned as per instructions. Reel started showing issues after only 2.5 months of use. There is a lot of water ingress to the inside of the reel that causes corrosion and damage. Self serviced the reel as I have done with my gear for 30+ years. Reel continued to fail and also began corroding and bubbling on main Reel frame. Discussed with BCF as advised and sent the reel into Shimano for replacement. It seems that regardless of personal servicing experience that any non approved servicing will not allow Warranty to be honored. Had poor response from Shimano and asked for resolution to be escalated to senior management. The response was poor, dragging on for months and then Shimano Australia ... MoreBought the Curado 150 DC HG New from BCF. Used frequently in salt water and cleaned as per instructions. Very disappointing spending $370 on a high range product that can't withstand the use in Salt Water that it is designed for.

Excellent Reel (with a great sound too)
14 February 2022

I bought this about 2 years ago when I was still new to using a baitcaster. I will be honest, those videos on youtube where they cast it, don't thumb stop it, and it doesn't backlash are a little deceiving. But regardless, you will never get a terrible birdsnest no matter how hard you cast it *if tuned right. Some people don't like the sound, I love it but its not that big of a hinder anyway. It's a great reel that if you plan on using as your main baitcaster, is a great investment.-A happy angler from Texas

Great reel if setup correctly
30 June 2020

Bought this reel about 4 months and was really disappointed with the number of backlashes I got. Many more backlashes than my Curado K. I read the directions several times on how to adjust it and did it the way it said - adjust the cast control knob until there is no rattling or axial movement of the spool. Took it back to BPS today to either exchange it or get my money back but first I talked to the guy at the reel counter. He has two of them and he loves them. He tightened my cast control knob at least 1 more round. We took it out back and on #2 setting - I have copolymer line it cast like a dream. I don't even have to thumb the spool and the end of a cast. A couple of weeks ago I was trying to use it in Minnesota, constant high winds, and it was impossible with the backlashes. So if you are having that problem tightened the spool tension knob. Can't wait to get out on the lake with it.

No regrets

I took a chance and bought the Curado DC after wearing out a few of my older bait cast reels. I was definitely impressed by its smoothness. But I was really impressed when I took my eight year old nephew striper fishing. While I was rigging up his rod I hear the sound of the reel and that little sucker is casting it out like a champ. He had never used a bait caster in his life and I would not have taught him with that reel because it was spooled with braid. I let him finish up that trip using the Curado because I was curious to see how long it would take him to backlash it. He never did, and that kid can backlash a spinning reel in a heartbeat. Would I buy one for a kid, "Heck no". But its nice to know the braking system is that good, that you could. I would say its ... MoreI took a chance and bought the Curado DC after wearing out a few of my older bait cast reels. I was definitely impressed by its smoothness. Not a game changer , but solid
26 April 2023

I have fished with Shimano reels for years, was super excited to try this reel out. While I like it, it wasn’t quite the game changer I thought it would be. Really anticipated buying eight more to replace my old reels. Not doing that just yet. Reel is smooth and does well on finesse baits. Still manage some loose line at times.

Quality reel, solid value
25 May 2023

Good consistent casting reel. Is it backlash foolproof? No! Like any other bait aster, if you get in a hurry, force casts, throw erratically you're going to have some backlashes but this will eliminate many or at least lessen their severity. Good reel, good value.

Shimano DC 150HG / rod combination
20 June 2021

Great reel need to buy another spool to change the strength of braid - have 20lb on now but need around 10lb for flatheads, whiting etc.Luring with this reel is very good just make sure you have the right rod - Bass Para 6’3” is a beauty!Even if you have never thrown a baitcaster just put in setting 4 and you will not get a bird’s nestThis is the fourth Shimano baitcaster- still two in action but this reel surpasses all predecessors - the lads were using spin reels and with this reel / rod combination it was easily getting more hook ups than theirs.Truly a piece of precision engineering- love it!
