I picked this reel up about a month ago and I think this reel is a steal. Absolutely love how smooth and light this reel is. I have the 5k size paired on a 9ft st croix seage medium light surf rod. This reel has some serious muscle to it and the drag is very smooth. This reel is on par if not better than reels that cost twice as much. I’ve been cranking in tons of nice size 10-15lb bluefish, fluke, and 20+lb stripers with it and this reel doesn’t skip a beat. The cost of this reel for what you get just doesn’t make any sense. Incredible reel at an unbelievable price made this a must get for me and I haven’t regretted it yet. If your in the market for a solid, light, and smooth reel but don’t want to drop $300 or more, this reel is for you. You won’t be disappointed.

Looked at this or the pricier Saragosa and have been fishing this for landbased snapper with no regrets - finally pulled in my first decent fish this year on this reel on a 10'6 surf rod. The lack of a line clip is odd, but this reel is as waterproof as they come (IPX8), and strong - like a Penn Slammer, but Shimano smooth under load. Takes over 250 mt of 30 lb Kairiki x4.

I bought the 6000 size.Shimano mid-range priced reels have been a staple of my arsenal forever (a LONG time). I still have and use my old Shimano reels. This reel is excellent. I rinse it off after every use and dry it in the sun. I plan to clean/lube it every couple (or more) years as I haphazardly do with my reels. Shimano reels take a licking and keep on ticking.Note: They run small on sizing. I bout the 6000 and it's about the size of some 4500-5000 size reels of other brands I've owned. Something to keep in mind.

Great budget reel (for the 10k class), loaded with 60lb braid (almost 300m) great drag, almost comparable to the 10k saragosa & great to backup this one.
I was using the 5000 Daiwa Procyon on my 9' Lami SS as a light surf set up for smaller Striped Bass with the occasional keeper until it had to be sent in for service. I have the 5000 Shimano Saragosa SW and really like the reel so I decided to replace the Daiwa with the Spheros even though I know I am not comparing apples to apples.I have used the Spheros a few times and have caught Striped Bass to approx. 34". The reel is nice and smooth, casts well and does a nice job managing the 30lb braid I have spooled on it. I really like this reel. I only wish it was just a little bit lighter.
An up-to-date gear drive system, lots of drag power ips65 water proof rated, fast ratio. To keep it low cost there is no reversing switch or auto bale close which I never use anyway.Paired with a Crouix inshore 7ft med/heavy, fast action rod its perfect for the brackish water fishing I do.
Feels very good, great weight for a 9ft shore spinning rod.I was struggling to find how much line it could hold, but the manual says the 6000HG holds: 30-290, 50-195, 65-140 (lbs-yards of PowerPro braid) or 12-265, 16-170, 20-120 (lbs-yards of Nylon mono)
Great reel for spinning, smooth and excellent retrieving ratio. Great for tailor.
A great reel to buy. Perform nicely when I caught a 15KG giant travelly.
I have used the Spheros for about a month. I loaded 30lb braid and the reel is on a 76 medium heavy inshore rod. It balances well and is not too heavy. The reel cast/retrieve are very smooth and powerful. Smoother than my Penn Spinfisher 5500. The Spheros has a manual bail that takes some getting used to. Manual bails are preferred by many saltwater anglers. The Spinfisher 5500 has an automatic bail. Overall, the Spheros is a very well made, high quality reel.
