Shimano Ultegra CN-6701 10 Speed Chain
Shimano - Kette Ultegra Cn-6701 10-fach Für 2-fach Kurbeln - The chain transmits the power from the chainring to the pinion of the rear hub. It is exposed to extreme stress and weather conditions. Chains vary in length, depending on conditions of use, but sooner or later, each must be replaced. Timely replacement of the chain is the only way to protect chainrings and pinions from excessive wear.

After removing 4 links to fit my large Felt S32 drive train, it took about 5 minutes to thread through the derailleurs and clip back onto itself using a KMC Missing Link, (so I won't need tools to remove/attach chain for cleaning in the future). Lightly lubricated and almost silent while pedaling, I couldn't believe how smoothly this chain operates up/down both derailleurs. Have put about 500 miles on it and it rides like new. Really like not having to look down during shifting to "make sure" the chain is going where I'm asking it to go! Highly recommend this chain, especially for the quality and value!

It is bendy and goes around the pointy round things without falling off. It goes round and round and doesn't break at the ends or the middle although it is a circle so there is no end or middle really. What can I say? It is a good chain but they wanted 199 characters to enter the #sweepstakes, so I hope someone gets a chuckle!

Quiet. Shifts well, as long as it is installed in the correct way. Good life. Use KMC master link rather than pin. Although the price has increased by 50% over the last year or two it is still a good value at this price.

I have been using Shimano Ultegra chains for years on mechanical and electronic without any issues. It is a directional design that requires attention to this detail. If installed in the wrong direction electronic detailers may not perform as well.
The product I recently purchased is a Quality one (OEM), with ebay Nectar points discount. The discount price is of reasonable value. Shimano, though OEM of the item, are not the best value. In their case it is best to Shop around. In my case I considered the Quality as a very valid point for purchase.
This one of the best chains for Shimano 10-speed drive trains. I prefer the Dura Ace 7901 chain only because it is slightly lighter. The Dura Ace 7901 chains are getting harder to find. The Ultegra CN-6701 chain is essentially the same except it does not have hollow pins. I also like the Shimano link pins versus removable links. I have never had any problems with the link pins. I have tried SRAM and Wippermann chains, but the Shimano chains provide the smoothest shifts and last longer. The Wippermann & SRAM chains seem to have more side play, so the shifts are not as crisp. With proper lubing and cleaning, I can typically get about 2000 miles from one of these chains. Other chains have not lasted as long. I use Amsoil spray-on Metal Protector motorcycle chain lube. ... It provides excellent lube and dries with a waxy film that seals the chains. It also does not attract dirt and you can go several hundred miles before you need to clean and re-lube the chain.PROS: Compatible, DurableBEST USES: Serious Racing or Training, Sprinting, Commuting, Climbing, Casual Riding
Twisted my second Ultegra Cn-6701 10 speed chain today, which took out my derailleur hanger. The chain had less than 400 miles, was impeccably maintained, and was installed with new cassette and chainrings. And yes, it was installed correctly with the labeling facing the outside.Overall, very cheap steel is being used. Earlier this year, the exact same thing happed to my XT-level 11 speed chain on my hardtail mountain bike. This destroyed a new XTR cassette as well. There are better and stronger chain options out there. I'm done with Shimano chains!
I replaced my Shimano dura ace chain with this ultegra chain. It worked perfectly and I know the quality of Ultegra chains as I had one on my Bianchi for 20 years and it never broke!
Shimano is great stuff. I have 6770 on my road bike and am a huge fan. So in terms of road bike equipment, 105 is good, Ultegra is great and Dura Ace simply lighter than Ultegra (and often times not as durable) the difference between a 6701 chain and a DA one is hollow pins. So there is some weight savings, however the profile of the chain links is the same, so there is no improvement in shifting (like there is 105 to Ultegra) You can get the KMC X10SL and save 50 grams, but you'll spend around double the cost of Ultegra, so the value is questionable.
I have been using Shimano chains since I bought my Cervélo RS at the end of 2010. It came with the Ultegra drivetrain and I wore the first chain out in a short time (3500 km) because I had the bad habit of using the big gear on front and third largest on the rear. That was a hangover from my old 12 speed bike.Next chain was a Dura-Ace but it didn't last any longer. The third time I got an Ultegra 6701 again and by then I would not use the large ring with anything larger than the 5th gear on the rear, so the chain was not worked as hard. I just replaced it at 6600 km, with wear just having hit the 0.75 level on my wear gauge. This was with a few rides where the chain got totally filthy with grit.6600 km is a bit over a year's riding for me so that's pretty good. ... My front tires (Michelin Pro4 Endurance) typically outlast the chains but that's the way these things go!Recommended.
