I originally had the Crusher ANC, they ended up being a faulty pair, but they were by far my most favorite headphones I had ever owned. I will say that Skullcandy support is amazing, as they were not selling the Crusher (1) ANC anymore, they provided me with a giftcard to purchase an alternative of my choosing.I thought at first the bass effect was much stronger on the 1st editions but with some tweaking in the SkullIQ app to the EQ I was able to get pretty much the same results as far as the strength of the bass effect.Comfort-wise 2nd edition definitely wins. They are using a 4 microphone setup and it is still possible to make improvements through firmware updates.They also have multipoint pairing.The soft touch plastic being used does feel great but is also a fingerprint magnet. Be prepared to wipe these down periodically if that is something that bothers you.

Okay, so I'm going to make my review helpful for Skullcandy for their next ANC 3s or something better.I tried really really hard to like these. 1: Bass knob, why fix something that is not broken, the slider was perfect. It let you know perfectly where you wanted the bass at and very quickly too instead of dialing it in.2: Comfort, after awhile wearing these for more than 30 minutes at a time they started to strain my ears and got them really sore so I had to either suck it up or take them off and put my Sennheiser Momentum 3's on because they are great for comfort.3: Stability, these and the previous, crusher evos are super unstable they fall off so easily. Their worse for bench also.4: Gym, make them alittle sweat resistant and cooler in the ear cups please, the previous gen were horrible they had a heating problem and made you sweat through them and contributed to making them fall off too these had the same problem.5: Sound, sound can be alot better too, add an equalizer. The bass on these do not rattle as much as the skull crusher evos. I was left disappointed and said to my self that was it? Bass is the staple to these, make them more louder and heavier on the bass not reduce them.Overall, I really tried to like them I ordered them when they first went on sale and returned them within 2 weeks. If it takes raising the price or making them more premium to improve these. Alot of us would still purchase them with the improvements hinted above. I'll still pay the heftier price anyday of the week because the patented bass from skullycandy made me a big fan of Skullcandy and I never was before. There's no headphones out there like them.I hope my review helps out alot of people out there for choosing these or not or if my review becomes helpful for Skullcandy to improve their next pair of headphones. I have reviewed about 20 pair of headphones so far. For bass and overall quality. my top 2 right now are. 1: Sennheiser Momentum 3's, the 4's are nowhere near as good as the 3's that's why they still cost like 50 dollars more on Amazon I have those too and will return them. 2: Sony WH-1000XM4 they are great for bass too not as heavy hitting as the Momentum 3's though but the headphones are great in sound and quality too. I enjoy that these controls are fully customizable in the excellent app. Overall, I love these because they sound very unique and immersive, while being more convenient and smarter than other headphones.

Bluetooth effective distance range is average. (I use a USB Bluetooth adapter to let me use my headphones with my Windows PC wirelessly.)ANC is default set to on when powering the headphones up, and the next setting is "stay aware." So if you just want to listen to music without ANC or "stay aware", you will have to trigger the spring activated selector twice until you get it to "ANC off."It is possible to use these headphones either powered on or passively (no battery power) with the supplied attachable wire, but the headphones sound different in passive mode (like they've been EQ'd wrong). I would only use passive wired if I had no way to recharge the headphones and the battery had died.The design is good and sturdy. You won't be able to do crunches/sit-ups with them because they won't stay on your head if you're laying on your back. They are comfortable and can be worn for hours on end, so they don't clamp down on your ears with an uncomfortable strong grip.The free Skull-iQ app unlocks the functions and features of the ANC 2. You can program the buttons to your phone to do what you want. You can even use voice control with these headphones, and if you have a Spotify account, you can audibly tell the Skullcandy app to open Spotify.Overall, I am very satisfied with these headphones. With the right music, they can deliver more bass than most people can handle, but even without the dizzying bass, they are still a fantastic pair of headphones. Enjoy!
