It's Smallrig so I knew the quality would be good. The plate fits Manfroto style heads. I don't own the RS2 gimbal so I don't know how that works, but I imagine it'll work fine. The tilting has a little drag put into it and springs back to the center. That's a great feature for this price point. In my personal opinion, the way the plate attaches to the head is the best way of attaching. I dislike the sliding system because sometimes there are elements that get in the way like a large lens.If you're looking for a tripod like this, don't go searching around Amazon and find the same form factor with different brand names. I bought one like those and the level ball wasn't accurate, which is probably a huge feature you're looking for.Highly recommend.

So far the tripod has worked great on several shoots. Total weight of our camera rig used is around 8 pounds. It is well made and the locking legs, once tensioning is adjusted with the included tool, locks legs firmly. It is light weight and very easy and quick to setup. Fully extended is slightly wobbly (stick to the max weight recommendations), so don't expect the same rigidity of $$$$ sticks. The fluid head is good quality but was switched out for a Manfrotto. The bowl adjustment knob is plastic but the collar is metal so locks the head firmly. Good quality for the price.

This tripod was really impressive out the box. However, after a few shoots, it began to fall apart. Even small vibrations from car rides will begin to loosen bolts and screws within the tripod, ultimately leading to failure. I had a long 8-hour shoot this weekend and the tripod leg clamp completely broke leaving me without a tripod, I had to do the entire event handheld. For the price, it's great; I could easily buy another - just know, the tripod could begin to fall apart on you after a few months. Would I buy it again? I'm really not sure, I want to support Smallrig, but I would really expect this tripod to last at least a year. Overall, the build quality is decent and I love how high it extends. Seems sturdily built.Pans and tilts are smooth.I was able to balance my nikon z6ii with a very heavy sigma 40mm f/1.4 with no problem.Works fine with standard manfrotto plates. The included plate did not fit standard manfrotto base but I had plenty of other plates to use.
I really like this when I first got it because it was lightweight and seemed strong, but unfortunately, the legs quickly became loose and I had to resort to tape on my last shoot to keep one of them from collapsing. Used to hold fx3 and fx6, which don't approach the threshold of the 17lbs it claims. I was able to tighten it again, but the last thing I want when I show up to a venue is to be worried about tightening up the tripod or worrying about it collapsing. Maybe this is good for very lightweight setups
No tripod comes close to supporting as much weight as this does (in the price range), especially with the inclusion of a fluid head. While not as precise as other more expensive tripod heads, I'd found this supports a 8lb setup with no issues at all. Let's are lightweight and seem sturdy up until they are fully extended, at which point there is a bit of wobble if the camera is unbalanced.
I video a lot of musical auditions and competitions, mostly with one camera and high-quality audio (up to 8 mics). It's often necessary to move the camera between sets. I had never used a twin-leg tripod up to this time. While a photographic tripod provides good support, the legs flex enough to require re-leveling after a move. The SmallRig AD-01 is very rigid, with the aid of a mid-level spreader. It is also very stiff against the torque of pan and tilt operations. The head is adequate for static operations, but has no counterbalance needed for smooth motion. I replaced it with a Manfrotto 75mm ball adapter and Nitrotech N08 head, for use with a rigged Sony A7Siii, PZ 28-135/4 Lens and V-Mount battery. It is tall enough for most of my work, and quick to set up. The ... MoreI video a lot of musical auditions and competitions, mostly with one camera and high-quality audio (up to 8 mics). I bought this solely on the fact that I'm a small rig camera cage fan. This is perfect for what I need. Zero wobble and solid build quality. Very versatile. Ive been beating this thing into the ground with daily use and it holds up perfectly. Using with an EOS R on a slider and it holds everything perfectly.
Just the right mix of metal and plastic. Metal where it needs it, plastic where it doesn't. Very stable. Smooth tilts and sand. Positive palate release. Bottom legs give you ideal default height. Secondary legs take you way up if you need the height. Although it can be used for video, it is also ideal for still photography. You wouldn't want anything less and absolutely no reason to buy anything bigger - unless you have a huge camera rig that requires the extra support.
It is a very nice tripod, I think that for the price it is the best option, it has its limitations but it is grating, so I recommend it.Watch videos of the AD-01 on Youtube. The tripod travel far away and everything was fine, thanks B&H for the awesome service and the variety of products.PD Very Nice Cover Bag for the Tripod.
