You have the choice of gentle pastels like green and blue, bolder hues like red and black, and traditional finishes such as silver and cream. No matter your decision, this stand mixer will live on your benchtop as a cult object. 10 variable speeds With 10 variable speeds, this stand mixer offers far more versatility than your own two hands. Whether you re aerating cream or mixing a heavy cookie dough, you can calibrate the motor to deliver the power required. The speed is controlled from the top of the unit for ergonomic convenience. Planetary mixing action Enjoy comprehensive mixing with a bowl that remains stationary and a beater that moves evenly around the sides. This method works well with heavy doughs and it helps you work faster because you don t have to intervene to manually scrape food into the centre of the bowl. The dough hook will help to produce a fine cookie mixture or to knead a pizza base, and the flat beater is your reliable allrounder.

Stunning design, outstanding quality, typical of the Smeg brand, this mixer is incredibly sleek, easy to use and to clean. The mixer itself is quiet but powerful and I like that the glass bowl has a handle, making it easy to pour out your dough/batter etc. The only negative is it is difficult to scrape down the bowl (which is necessary) during mixing. I’ve found I have had to stop the mixer, lift the beater away from the bowl, scrape the sides of the bowl and then continue to mix. Only a minor negative. Mixing sourdough has become a dream with the glass bowl and dough hook, not to mention super easy biscuit dough that leaves an easy clean up. I am so happy with this purchase.

I have wanted a pink Smeg mixmaster to match my kettle and toaster for a long time. I am really happy with the ease of use and easy storage of all the attachments inside the mixing bowl. The handle on the bowl is very convenient. I was pleasantly surprised by the different attachments included, even a handy splatter guard with a shoot for adding ingredients while mixing.

I was gifted the pastel pink Smeg 50s-style kettle and toaster, so it didn't take much persuasion to add the matching stand mixer to my kitchen. I have used it a couple of times (to make pavlova) and it's done well. The machine itself seems solid and well-built, and it is far quieter than the 1970s-era Mixmaster my Mum used when I was growing up (now that was LOUD!). I have noticed that accessories seem to be a little hard to come by - e.g. I haven't been able to locate a glass bowl in any store or online. The stores seem to preference KitchenAid products and their respective accessories, so if that's important to you, you might be better off considering something from that stable.

Great range of funky retro kitchen appliances
25 February 2021

We purchased the full range of SMEG Retro appliances and the overall quality and performance is very good. They are solidly built and heavier than many lightweight cheaper competitors. We have been using them for 4 years now and they still look like brand new and function perfectly. One really annoying failure is the handle on the stainless steel bowl of the stand mixer. It fell off within 6 months of use, it was kindly replaced by customer service without problem. Sadly the replacement has also failed, we now have 2 bowls without handles! An annoying inconvenience but it stops me giving 5 stars and an excellent rating.

Not worth the hassle
1 February 2022

Purchased in March of 2021 and arrived as a beautiful, working machine. After using less than 10 times the motor gave out while mixing a simple cake mix, making a metallic grinding sound. It took the full 17 days for QVC to acknowledge receiving the return and though has been nearly 30 days have still no refund. The card used to purchase was replaced with a different card, so was told it would have to be refunded in purchase credit, which could later be refunded. 11 days ago was told the credit would be refunded to my card on file, which has been used in later purchases with QVC. They said the refund would be in my account within 10 days. Not so! Have made many purchases through QVC with this product being my first return ever. It is not worth the hassle! The length of time spent on the phone and waiting is absolutely unacceptable. Would keep that in mind when purchasing expensive items with unknown quality, mine did not hold up and am not sure if/when my money will be returned. There is no online indication any credit exists either.

Retro is the go

Spent many days deciding on what mixer would suit our needs. This mixer has a stronger motor and a more generous warranty than its rival the kitchenaid and I feel it looks more stylish. Based on that I took a gamble and it so far has paid off. There aren't many reviews out there for the Smeg however the ones I did see didn't say anything negative. It runs rather quiet and has no trouble with heavy mixes. It has a sturdy build and is super easy to use. If you are on the fence I say go for it.The price and performance are there.

Terrible stand mixer
21 September 2022

Avoid this mixer. Wish I got a kitchenaid. Overheats and shuts down. It is poorly designed so u can't mix small quantities of anything and the dough hook doesn't knead dough properly. Had to finish kneading by hand

The best thing I own. And I own some great stuff.

I bought this a few weeks ago, and have not looked back. I am not a baker, and only a sometime cook. I bought this literally only because I found a recipe for a cake which required a whole jar of Nutella and thought “yessss”. Then realized I needed a mixer, and this was on sale and it matched some other red Smeg stuff I’ve got, and COVID is making me kinda crazy. It’s amazing. I love it. For a start, it’s so beautiful that I can’t bring myself to put it in the cupboard after I’ve used it. It’s better looking than most men I’ve ever dated (and infinitely more useful).Plus it arrived within 24hours of ordering it and I get a bonus chopper/mincer which is still on its way. It’s easy to use, sturdy, reliable, easy to clean, and relatively quiet. So far I have made ... MoreI bought this a few weeks ago, and have not looked back. They’ve all been very successful. I am going to try meringue next. I can’t even believe there’s a version of reality in which I’m saying that.Sometimes I stroke it when I walk past, just to let it know it is loved. The dog is getting jealous. My only complaint is that the Nutella cake didn’t work, because I had eaten the whole jar within the 24 hours it took for the mixer to be delivered. But I guess that’s on me.

Tragic performance
18 November 2022

Sadly had to return my mixer due to poor performanceFor the longest time I had wanted a smeg mixer because they are beautiful pieces of art. So my partner surprised me with this red SMEG for my birthday. I was ecstatic- simply beside myself. It was beautiful and heavy and sturdy. However, when I tried to make the pasta dough recipe that came with the mixer - I was not impressed with it's performance. It completely failed to pick/pull ingredients from the sides of the bowl. I had to stop the mixer 4-5 times to manually incorporate in the flour. Absolutely in disbelief I pulled out my cheap Breville stand mixer and made the exact same recipe and only had to scrap down the bowl once. Thinking maybe it was only the dough hook with issues. Absolutely in disbelief I pulled out my cheap Breville stand mixer and made the exact same recipe and only had to scrap down the bowl once. Thinking maybe it was only the dough hook with issues. I moved on to make a cake which uses the whisk to whisk egg whites and flat beater to fold egg whites into the bulk batter. The whisk preformed well, however the flat beater didn't mix well. Yellow batter at bottom and white egg white left on the sides.By now I was very sad and knew I had to return it to the store - David Jones chermside.Supposedly they offer 30day returns if not satisfied with the product. We explained the problem but much to our surprise the lady wasn't so willing to refund. She summaried, "so there isn't a fault with the machine as such but you just don't like it?" She then opens the machine to inspect that it was clean and tried to imply that they don't usually do returns on a used product. She asked if we were happy with an exchange. Lady! I am already traumatized that I am having to return my birthday gift that my partner painstakingly pick out for me .... at 8.30pm. I tried to love the mixer so much but it fails at the one job it was designed for. Anyhow we got the refund in the end but we're made to feel like we were in the wrong -even though a full refund was well within our rights. Some people just aren't cut out for customer service.Stay clear of the SMEG. Looks aren't everything. Kenwood for me next upgrade.
