These goggles are a game changer! I used them on a powder day in near whiteout conditions in Southern Colorado and couldnât believe the difference. First the larger lens area really makes a huuuge difference in overall visibility. Also, really appreciated a clasp that is centered on the band. The magnetic changing system is relatively easy to use and I like the extra latch for security that some other mag goggles Iâve tried donât have. I wasnât really sure what to expect of the ChromaPop feature, but really noticed it at the top of the lift where conditions were the worst for visibility. I was definitely able to see lines and overall terrain better because the goggles almost took on a yellowish hue. Bought these goggles as a gift for my wife. She's a casual skier (goes ~5 times/year) so I didn't want to spend too much money but at the same time, didn't want to skimp - I wanted her to have the ChromaPop dark lens and the extra yellow lens for storm days. This fit the bill perfectly - it's a "basic" frame but with upgraded lenses, which is what really matters.I was initially skeptical of Smith's ChromaPop claims until I tried them myself for the first time this year (I got the Smith Squad). I'm converted. It really does provide a noticeable difference in enhancing vision, especially on flat-light days. I don't think I'll ever go back and it's why I wanted to get it for my wife. Also, having capability of switching out lenses is a game changer - it can ... MoreBought these goggles as a gift for my wife. This goggle really is the cats meow from a technical performance standpoint, but primarily for smaller faces. This is otherwise, however, a great goggle. This is the goggle for you if:- You're looking for a crazy beautiful polarized lens to carry you through the crispest bluebird days on the mountain. The ChromaPop lens does not disappoint - the clarity and color is something I have not yet seen to be delivered by any other snow goggle lens on the market.-You have a smaller face or are looking for a women's specific lens.-You're looking for a goggle that is easy on, easy off and won't constantly slide up and fall off the back of your helmet you when you rest them on the forehead of your helmet. The elastic in the band is next level. No issues with the slingshot of doom, goggle dangle-fest that every shredder hates.-You want a one-and-done, all inclusive goggle purchase. This goggle comes with two lens - one for sunny days, one for cloudy. Both are top notch, luxurious polarized lenses that will not fail to deliver you the utmost clarity whatever the conditions. The goggle comes in a beautiful Smith hardshell case with ventilation so that you can store your goggles right after a rad send-shesh without fear that the nasty will get them. It also comes with a goggle sock and a soft, microfiber baggy that doubles as a protective bag and cleansing cloth. Needless to say, this goggle includes all you need. This may not be the goggle for you, however, if:-You have a larger face. If you have a larger face or high cheekbones, you may find the foam padding a bit uncomfortable as a soft microfiber fleece only covers a limited amount of the goggle.- You are easily distracted by a bit of frame in your peripheral vision. The field of vision is quite wide (and certainly an improvement on my current non-smith pair of goggles), however you can see the black frame of the goggle in your periphery. This was at times a bit distracting on the mountain. Same goes for the padding in the nosepiece.-You're hard on your goggles or are prone to hitting the back of your head. The goggle strap features and easy on and off clip made of somewhat thin and seemingly very breakable plastic. All things said and done, this is an awesome goggle for just about any person who spends time on the mountain. If you have a larger face or high cheek bones, I'd check on the men's version as it may provide a bit more space!

I love everything about these goggles. Both lenses are excellent for their purposes (blue bird and low light) and I definitely feel like I can see more around me with these goggles. They also just look super cool on! I have a narrow face and these are the first goggles Iâve owned that really fit me. I like the interchangeability of the lenses. The hard case is well designed and holds everything nicely. I do wish there was a small hard case for the âother lensâ I could throw in my bag while I am out and about to protect it from being squished in my bag. I have been super happy with this Smith product and expect it will last for years like my Smith sunglasses.
Iâve been using smith virtue goggles for years with photochromic lenses and an allure helmet. These goggles with a sunny and storm lens were quite good. They fit well and gave a large range of vision. Iâve taken them out in all conditions - sunny, cloudy, stormy. They never fogged up on the inside in the storm which was great. The sunny lenses were a good balance between dark enough in the open areas and not too dark in the trees. They are slightly heavier due to the interchangeable lens mechanism. So likely would not take touring. But the mag function is very easy to use. Over all I would highly recommend, and will likely purchase photochromic lenses as well for these.
Make sure your face is actually really really small for these to fit properly. Your face should be small enough for regular adult sizes to take over your face and/or be slipping off or sticking out too much to the sides of your face. It'll work for bigger faces, but you'll be rocking some major goggle lines for hours afterwards. Having a flatter Asian face with higher cheekbones, these weren't the most comfortable for me. It dug in to my cheekbones and created gaps on the bottom sides that let cold air come through while riding. Also doesn't sit quite well under a helmet but I noticed it fits perfectly under a Smith helmet. The lenses also fogged up when I had my buff on all the way over my nose. Cleared up quickly, but still a bit of a bother during cold days.
I like the style and the two lenses seem like a good combo of low- and high-vis VLTs. I haven't had any opportunities to test them out in midrange light conditions yet though, so I'm a little nervous that I might end up wanting another lens. Overall though, I really like the ease of swapping the magnetic lenses. Chromapop seems like a decent upgrade from my previous non-Chromapop Smith goggles as well. Every bit of visibility counts out there. One note about the color: it's more khaki than yellow. The pictures led me to believe it would be more yellow. I'm happy enough with it though. It definitely helps that I got them at a fantastic price.
Right from putting these goggles on for the first time I noticed that the strap was broader and sturdier than my previous Smith goggles and it holds them to my face better. The goggles fit perfectly with both my Smith and Giro helmets leaving no drafty gap and they donât fog up, even hiking up in the backcountry. I notice that if I looked directly down in the goggles there is a slight distortion at the bottom of the lens, probably due to the curve of the lens, this is not a problem for actually skiing because we should be looking ahead and not down. Even though these are sized for a smaller face, the lens offers a beautiful wide field of vision which is truly advantageous both in the lift line and on crowded slopes. The photo shows me using the Sun Red Mirror lens in low light and that worked well too in low light but it was terrific for my sensitive eyes in bright sun.
PROS: Love the fit, look, interchangeable lenses, the storage caseâŠand they havenât fogged up!Yay! I finally own some goggles that fit my face well! Hopefully this will prevent me from scratching them while being stored with my gear.CON: Both the mirrored lens and the rose-colored lens have a slight distortion at the very bottom of the lenses. I noticed it in the parking lot the first time I tried these onâŠbut once I got on the mountain it wasnât a problem. I believe this occurs because the lenses curve back at the bottom creating a distortion. That being said, I donât have the same range of vision with my other goggles that I have with these gogglesâŠI suppose itâs better to have a bit of distorted vision (at the bottom) versus not being able to see that angle (with my other goggles, I see goggle pads at the bottom, not terrain.) Hopefully this makes sense, itâs hard to explain. I gave 4 instead of 5 stars just because of the distortion. These are pricey goggles, however you receive two lenses and a well-designed hard case to store them in⊠so they should last longer because of the protection.Iâm loving ripping up the mountain with these! (The storm rose flash is great for the typical Pacific Northwest low-light condition daysâŠand the mirrored lenses are perfect for the sunny days! Twofer!
The first thing youâll notice is the increased visibility from what is called the âBirdseye Visionâ or when you look down at the base of the goggle and have a significant more amount of visibility comparatively to a full frame lens. The same is true from looking towards the sides of the lens. Lenses are interchangeable, so the preference for further visibility in low and high resolution situations is unmet by other goggles. The lens change is quick and easy, with no concern of compromise for sealing the lens or having a loose lens. I even ran in these amidst a snow storm and found them to still be anti-fog and for the lens to remain securely attached. The fit is a bit on the larger size for smaller framed faces like mine, however, there is a slight advantage on the hill to feeling like the Mandalorian. Despite the larger fit, the foam sealed to the face without any gapping, again, preventing any sort of fogging. While considerably pricey next to your standard top shelf goggle, consider this a durable investment with future lenses ranging between $100-$125 for replacement (an affordable option after buying the frame for quality).
