I purchased my SodaStream from a department store and my package was delivered with a broken carafe. I contacted SodaStream about the packaging and they immediately sent out a replacement carafe. GREAT customer service!The unit is simple enough to use. Placing the canister was easy and carbonating the water was fun. You can tell when the bottle has enough gas by a sound, but you can adjust the amount of carbonation with an additional pump if you like more bubbles.I found placing the flavoring after adding the bubbles keeps the nozzle cleaner. This is my second set of carafes that I have purchased and I love them.For a long time I thought they were indestructible because I dropped them on asphalt, concrete, slate, wood floors - you name it I dropped the carafe on it; however, I did finally break one on a concrete garage floor.I highly recommend this carafe - I. Addition to them being g durable everyone I know has comment on how beautiful the design is. The ridges in the bottle also help with grip.

GREAT customer service.I contacted sodastream when my first CO2 canister ran out of gas after using about 15 times. MARGINAL customer service. I thought that I would get 15 uses on the 650 mL carafes. Disappointed, but I decided to buy 2 more canisters and move forward.Canisters arrived. My husband was dubious that the canister was exhausted. He weighed fresh vs first canister and determined there was more gas in the failed canister. So, we put back into the unit.WOW. We are doing our best to get away from using disposable plastic containers. That was a big motivation for getting a Soda Stream system in the first place, even though our unit has a re-usable plastic bottle. But we still had a concern about using plastic for storage so we bought two glass carafes. Now we just make the carbonated water in the plastic bottle our system requires and then immediately transfer it to a glass carafe - one for plain and the other for flavored. The glass carafes have good tight screw-on caps that keep the fizz in very nicely. x

FYI Berniece, when you pressurize something, it has a limited lifespan. This is for your safety. Your BBQ propane cylinder also has a limited lifespan.\r\n\r\nThe reason they don\'t have glass bottles for all machines is another safety issue! You\'ll notice the machines that take glass have a chamber that completely surrounds the bottle while it is being carbonated.\r\n\r\nDon’t be upset because you decided to buy a certain model. Ive had the penguin machine (replaced by the crystal) for 8 years... I am certain it has been around longer than that, too. I called customer service to complain about the need to put that very important information WITH the product description.The rep I spoke to was very nice. She offered me 50% off the fancy model that costs $180. I appreciated her efforts, but have not ordered the new model since our old one works perfectly fine.I’m so disgusted with Soda Stream right now that I may just stop drinking carbonated water altogether since I really want to eliminate my dependence on their plastic bottles.We are now using the 4 bottles to store kombucha that my husband makes, so it’s not a total loss.
We ordered new carafes and screw tops because the tops for our old carafes were starting to break. If the lids that fit our original carafes were available, we would have ordered those. Since they were not available, we ordered new carafes and lids. We specifically ordered from Soda Stream because we wanted to make sure we had proper replacements for our Penguin. When we pump the bottles, there is no tight seal and the water overflows into the Penguin. We are very disappointed.
We were spending $100+ buying fizzy water in plastic bottles, and "recycling" them. Within two months we have recouped the cost of our Aqua Fizz bundle with 3 glass bottles, and prevented over 100 bottles going into the landfill. The water tastes better in glass. The bottles are comfortable to hold. The caps are sturdy and screw on with a satisfying spin. We have the three bottles in constant rotation. The maker itself is a little quirky, but once you get the hang of it, it works great. We'll never go back to store-bought fizzy water and plastic bottles.
If the bottles last long time I would not mind, though.While the orange syrup-made soda does taste somewhat of orange, I miss the burst of aroma you get from opening a bottle of Fanta Orange. Also, the syrup made soda has somewhat of a weird aftertaste.
Sodastream does a poor job with their bottle designs. The plastic ones all fall apart at the base. The glass carafes dont fit the machines that work with the plastic bottles. So i have to buy a new machine. The lids on all the bottles should stay attached to the bottle so they dont get lost. They always get lost. Everything is overpriced. I am done with soda stream.
