Sof Tactical Tourniquet - Wide Black
The SOF Tourniquet sets the benchmark for prehospital tourniquets. Designed for rapid one-handed and two-handed applications, the SOF Tourniquet's reinforced, low-stretch polyester pressure band easily slides over an arm or a leg. Its durable buckle quickly unhooks and rehooks, allowing access to confined spaces and trapped limbs. A patented indicator wedge is stitched beneath the windlass to visually confirm when all slack is removed, ensuring an effective application. It features a patented aircraft-grade aluminum windlass rod with a textured grip for consistent twisting. The windlass secures into a Tri-Ring Lock and Tourniquet Retention Assistance Clip (TRAC). Built for survival and engineered for efficiency, this tourniquet is designed for use by both men and women in emergency situations.

Ease of ordering and shipping were great. The item is a definite step up from the old CAT tourniquet. The ability to open this tourniquet to place it around a limb for either self or buddy aide will give the user so many more options depending on the conditions. Now that I have seen the quality of these, I will be ordering more .

Great Quality, easy to pack and carry. I also like that a person can apply it to themself with one hand. I keep it in my E.R. Pack when in remote areas. It is good to have as EDC equipment. The video (link on the MyMedic website) was very helpful in describing and demonstrating how to use it.

I have MyMedic Recons and TFAKS in all our family vehicles as well as various MyFAKS around the house and camp, this is the only thing I felt I really needed to upgrade. I am a huge fan of MyMedic and appreciate what you all do! Thanks from Maine.

Excellent item! Found a video on how to use. Did a few test runs with the family. Found a pouch with molle attachment. All ready to go! Hope I don’t ever need it!
The only issue is that no manual is included, it's easy enough to learn online. But it's a great thing to have, and a smart design with easy application. Realistically it's not needed often, but *when* you need one - you really need one.
I have owned Cats and Rats tourniquets for years. After taking a Stop the Bleed class, I was recommended to try SOF-T tourniquets. The instructor was a retired Army medic. He was very knowledgeable and had a tourniquet from almost every manufacturer. He also had fake ones that have been sold on Amazon and EBay. He showed us the telltales on the fakes, instructed us to purchase from synonymous companies on a list he gave us, which included My Medic. He told us the differences in the companies and their products so I bought 2 of these. One to keep in my EDC kit and one in my truck. I plan to buy another 2, one for my gun belt and another for my first aid kit.
Quality made equipment. Ease of use and application. Designed for durability with quality materials. Application is so easy even my 9 year old son can apply it, and he tried it on me. Works perfectly.
Very easy to fit into pre existing kits or put on an external mount for your pack or belt. It's neat and compact enough to have in your back pocket too so you always have one with you on the trail.I've never used one (fortunately) so I can't speak to the efficacy, but it is approved in the CoTCCC list and is one of the most used tourniquets by military personnel and emergency responders. From my own practice with it, very easy and quick to apply. A must have for any tourniquet.Expensive yes, but it's a whole lot cheaper than living without a leg for the rest of your life. So in regards to its role in a trauma kit, it's a necessity and worth every cent.
I believe this is the best tourniquet on the market. It's approximately one ounce heavier than the CAT-T, but it's thinner and less bulky during transport. If you end up needing to use it, you can wash it and reuse it afterwards (looking towards a future of resource scarcity and reusable medical equipment). If you don't have a pouch or a pocket to carry it on your person, you can extend out the strap and have it dangle down the inside of your pant leg, and have it held by friction inside your pant belt line. You would then have a smooth draw compared to the friction provided by the velcro on the CAT-T. It's also strong enough that you could use it for something like securing the handles of double doors in a commercial building to prevent them from opening (active ... MoreI believe this is the best tourniquet on the market. I will start by saying this is my first SofT. I am more familiar and practiced with the CAT. I have only had it for a couple of months, but it seems VERY durable. It is essentially a small seatbelt. Maybe a childs car seat strap. Either way, besides taking a VERY sharp object to it, I don't see it failing. The hardware is all aluminum, so the weakest point I would say nearly has to be the stitching and it seems very well done.I will say the first crank of the windless requires a bit more force than the CAT for 2 reasons:1) you are cranking a stiffer band. (If you are familiar with the CAT you know the inner band is smaller than the rest of the tq and relatively flexible)2) you are cranking a wider band. (If you are familiar with the CAT you know the inner band is smaller than the rest of the tq and relatively flexible)2) you are cranking a wider band. ThIs means you are taking up more slack with that first crank which is a good thing, but does take a bit more force. Also, although it's not quite as likely, everyone talks about 1 handed self application. Because of the lack of self securing material (think of the hook and loop on the CAT) it is a little more difficult to self apply to your arm. You have to use your chin or teeth, or lean against a wall to secure it until you get the first crank or 2 of the windlass.Lastly, it is a little more flexible/floppy than the CAT when placing in a holster/holder. this can be good and bad. It will pack down a little smaller if space is of primary concern. On the other hand, it's kind of like pushing a rope when putting it in a holder and like drawing a noodle when taking it out.Bottom line, it will achieve arterial occlusion if done correctly. Make sure you practice and get familiar with using it.
