First, I'd like to establish that I am not a professional reviewer of items. I'm a firefighter and I was just looking for a good TV because my last one quit working (a 75 inch Samsung with a lackluster picture that only lasted 2 years before the display quit working). I spent about 12 hours researching televisions to find the best bargain. I won't bore you with all the specifications, I'll just summarize by saying that this is the lowest priced television that has the key features of the higher end models to provide the best gaming and viewing experience. I've had it for 3 days now, and EVERYTHING looks better on this screen than the last one I had. The picture is crisp, defined, and vivid. The 4k videos on youtube and the ultra HD movies that I have streamed from various services look amazing! I also am very impressed with the audio, I purchased it thinking I might need to add a sound bar at a later time, but the sound from the factory speakers is sufficient to keep me from having to do that. Another huge plus for this TV is the user interface. It's very intuitive and keeps me from having to add an Amazon fire stick , which was necessary on my previous TVs due to the hard to navigate user interface of those TVs. The remote is simple and easy to use and feels good in your hand, it just feels like it's made well. All of the things we watch look soooo much better, and it's hard to not talk about how good the picture is while we're watching lol. I'm extremely happy with this purchase!

I bought this to replace an 8-year-old flat 55" LG LED TV.Picture: This is my first 4K TV so I won't comment much on the picture quality. It looks amazing, but I can't say whether it is better than other 4K TVs. I was shocked at how good even standard HD (1080p) looks -- the 4K upscaling really works. From certain angles I can see a bit of light bleeding around the edges when the picture is very black.Sound: This TV sounds great with the native speakers. The audio is full and rich and there's no distortion at high volumes. Much better than the LG LED TV it replaced. No need for a soundbar unless you're really into a high-end audio experience.Software: Make sure you know your Google (and WiFi) password before you begin setup. No need for a soundbar unless you're really into a high-end audio experience.Software: Make sure you know your Google (and WiFi) password before you begin setup. In fact, make sure you have Google Home installed on your phone and you're logged in. If you have all of that ready to go, setup is pretty easy. The Google interface is fine, though it does force "suggestions" on you that I wish I could get rid of.Hardware: It's a little thicker and heavier than the LG it replaced, but I imagine this is due to the build quality that Sony has always been known for. If you are wall-mounting, make sure to screw in the extenders that come with it. The screw holes are recessed in the back and I didn't notice the extenders and had to go to the hardware store for some extra-long M6 screws. Otherwise, I was able to install this on my existing mount fairly easily.Remote: The remote is pretty basic but I was pleased that it can control the main functions of my cable box. I wish it had a couple of more buttons -- cable box power and last-channel, to be specific. The voice command feature works well.
We have had our TV for a little over 6 months after previously owning a Sony Bravia for over a decade and a half. We have always chosen Sony for its accessible quality interfaces and superior natural picture. The TV is controlled from a small bar remote which depending on the menu you are in can function in a lot of different ways. TV watching with Foxtel or aerial is super simple and the speedily left to right menu means you can switch channels quickly while looking at the guide (much quicker than Foxtel’s menu). Streaming is equally as simple with every streaming service we use supported. It’s super simple to be watching The Mandalorian on Apple and quickly flick out to watch The Last of Us on Binge. Streaming is equally as simple with every streaming service we use supported. It’s super simple to be watching The Mandalorian on Apple and quickly flick out to watch The Last of Us on Binge. I have found it to be the simplest menu with the quickest response time of any TV. The voice function makes it easy to search for things when you forget what service it’s on e.g Show me episodes of Bluey. It will then tell me it’s free on ABC iview and CBeebies (as I subscribe to them) or I can buy episiodes thru Apple. The picture quality is excellent. I often find other brands a bit too garish and over contrasted like they’re neon lights in a night club, but on this TV the colours are strong but natural. It’s much easier on the eyes. This is also a great gaming TV. It has functions which switch automatically when playing Xbox or PS5 that seem to improve the quality of the graphics.I have had people so impressed with this TV they bought one of their own in a larger size.
Bought this to replace an older KD55XF9005 model which unexpectedly had a total launch failure after just 4 years use. We had always been deeply impressed with the superb picture quality, sharpness, high resolution and motion flow control offered by the Motion Flow Pro Extreme chip that TV was fitted with and by the multi-array backlit screen although it lost contrast off axis, on axis it was superb...on a par with many OLEDs. After speaking with an advisor at John Lewis I was told this was an update on our 2018 model and practically the same TV with updated software. One problem the old one had was a clunky android operating system and unreliable wifi and you view.Well after receiving this newer model we felt badly let down. Picture quality is pretty dire. Low contrast, one of the poorest performing TV's with HDR content, colour was ok but in terms of resolution and dynamic range this one's at the bottom of the pile. It's not the same screen, uses an inferior motion flow picture processor, and unlike our old one you cannot delete the adds which pop up in all applications. It's insulting that you pay this much for a tv and cannot chose to disable ads! I'm so bitterly disappointed that I'm returning it and will ask to upgrade it to a better model but this time I will take my time and will pick wisely even if I have to pay another few hundred pounds.Really poor showing from Sony. If you're used to a much older LCD you may think picture quality is ok and even more than acceptable but once you place it side by side with many other screens costing the same you'll be left wanting because it performs so badly. Puts me off Sony and we may look to other brands
The Sony 55" X80K is an okay TV (I am 80 and basically any TV looks good to me) with what I think are really lousy controls. 80 year old eyes that have had Lasik surgery and have trifocals in front of them will certainly have different criteria for picture quality than 35 or 40 year old eyes. So I can not make any judgments about the picture.Like most televisions today, the Sony uses legs rather than a pedestal. This means you either need a wide cabinet to sit it on or you need to wall mount it. Just know this about any large TV when planning a purchase. Substituting legs for a pedestal is a money-saver for manufacturers and seems to be standard today. The Google interface for streaming channels is nowhere near as well designed as the Roku interface I have been accustomed to using. Also, selecting anything while in this interface results in a really obnoxious beep sound. This requires muting the TV before making any kind of selection. The remote control itself that has no numbers on it, forcing you to go to the TV's screen menu to change channels. Even then it takes two button pushes to select a channel — one to select the channel and one to click past the description screen for that channel.I cannot comment on the TV's sound as I have a sound-bar installed. All in all, it is a decent purchase. I suppose I got my money's worth, but no more. However I didn't go crazy shopping and comparing, so if I didn't then the fault is mine.

The TV is relatively expensive compared to other models in the same size range, which may not be feasible for some budgetsOverall, the Sony Bravia KD65X80K TV is a great TV for families who love to watch movies and shows together.
originally I was going to get a cheaper TV, near the $300-400 range during the BF sale and came in store to take a look at what they had. for every single TV under $500, the picture quality was beyond disappointing. when I came over to this display, the Bravia TVs were SO visually satisfying that I knew I needed to bring one home.I am going to be eating very light for awhile to accommodate this purchase, but it's so worth it. I mounted it on my wall with a rocketfish mount and movies and shows do so well on this TV.I would recommend turning off some of the color correction settings, as it can cause weird movement and discoloration but ultimately this has been a delight to use. i recommend looking in to optimized settings for these online to get the most out of ... I am a musician and softcore audiophile, so sound quality is a priority. the optical connection is the way to go if you want to be impressed.overall 10/10, would happily purchase again.only complaint is a software one- I wish there were a way to *only* show titles I already have access to with my current subscriptions on the home page. nothing more gross than selecting something and finding out you have to pay more to view it. Sony cannot control what happens inside of apps, but it can control what it shows me on the Home page.additionally, the remote controller is NICE! it feels so solid and is aesthetically pleasing- I hate a bulky, ugly remote but this one feels and looks excellent. killer design across all fronts.
