I don't have an enormous amount of expendable cash, but needed a better camera for work (after using high-end smartphones for video work for a while). I looked at several different options, but kept landing back on the ZV-E10 and I'm really glad I did! I bought it with the kit lens and a 50mm f/1.8 prime lens, which considering I shoot mostly interviews, has produced absolutely incredible results. My job calls for shooting in 4K, 1080p 60, and 1080p 30 and this camera does it all with ease, especially considering how much I paid for it!On the photography side, the kit lens takes some really nice pictures, it's very versatile and excels especially when ...Ā MoreBefore purchasing the ZV-E10, I did a bunch of research into the cameras available around this price point. I have used this camera for almost 2 years. In the beginning i used the kit lens. But later on i purchased sigma 16mm f1.4 lens from B&H E mount.I use this camera solely for video as B roll camera. I record in 4K UHD. And i have it turned on for 3 hours at a stretch. Ofcourse, i also bought from B&H the power adapter made by Sony (with dummy battery insert. If you know how to do the right settings, you will get excellent results. All the settings are manual mode. (including focus). For the price, its a very good buy and with good video footage. The best part is you can record unlimited aas long as sd card memory allows and the power is direct through adapter.

Great Value Camera for Travel and Content Creation

I chose the Sony ZV-E10 over the Nikon Z30 and Fujifilm X-S10 for four main reasons:1. Better autofocus than the competition.2. Lighter rig due to better/lighter lens selections (Sony 11mm F/1.8).3. Sony community. There is more information to help with getting the most out of Sony cameras than the competition.4. Less expensive than the Fujifilm X-S10.5. Usage of Gyroscopic data for post production stabilization (Catalyst Browse).Main Cons compared to competition:1. Lacks IBIS that is included with the Fujifilm X-S10.2. Nikon Z30 and Fujifilm have better kit lenses.3. Heavier crops for active stabilization and 4k 30fps.A note about stabilization that I noticed that I did not find in my research: BOTH digital stabilization and post-processing ...Ā MoreI chose the Sony ZV-E10 over the Nikon Z30 and Fujifilm X-S10 for four main reasons:1. IBIS and Lens stabilization ONLY don't do much for video. High shutter speeds are usually only mentioned as a CON of using post-production programs like Catalyst Browse (which is the only thing I'm aware of that comes close to replacing a gimbal. Yes, you sacrifice motion blur effects.

Great for beginners
4 June 2024

The camera is neat and simple. I purchased this camera because I want to catch special moments and memories. Also, I wanted to practice photography. JPEG photos aren’t perfect but still great. The he RAW pics are amazing to edit. I’m looking forward to learning more about photography.I also take videos, and the image quality is great and I love how it can keep a steady image. It’s just a fun camera to use. I’d recommend it to anyone who just wants to capture the special moments.Only critique is that the WIFI photo transfer to the phone is slow and glitchy.

Great for vlogging and YouTube studio filming

I got the Sony ZV-E10L on sale at the end of July 2024. I needed a good quality camera with interchangeable lenses for my YouTube channel and for general photography when travelling around the world. In my view a camera with a good lens is much better than a phone camera. I was considering between the latest ZV-E10II , the Canon R50 and the existing ZV-E10 models. I went for the ZV-E10 as in my opinion this camera gives a lot of functionality and features for a beginner to semi pro video maker and photographer and also the price was very competitive so I could spend more on accessories.Good points:• Great quality videos in full HD and 4K. I went for the ZV-E10 as in my opinion this camera gives a lot of functionality and features for a beginner to semi pro video maker and photographer and also the price was very competitive so I could spend more on accessories.Good points:• Great quality videos in full HD and 4K. However, for my usage I mainly shoot in full HD only as it’s more than enough for my YouTube videos.• Well build and quality camera.• Small and portable. It’s lightweight and can be attached to many different shooting grips or portable tripods for vlogging purposes.• The camera I got was ZV-E10L. The letter L stands for a lens and there was 16-50mm lens included. It’s auto-focus works great and its an excellent lens for variety of situations.• There are a lot of third-party guidance and online tutorials available so it’s fairly easy to learn how to use the camera efficiently.• Great compatibility with non-Sony accessories. This was one of the main points that made me to decide between the Sony ZV-E10 and the Canon R50 camera. There are a lot of third-party accessories for Sony ZV-E10 available on the market. I did get extra two battery packs with charger that was only Ā£30, and it works the same as the original Sony battery. I also got a dummy battery to keep the ZV E10 constantly on while using it as a webcam for streaming and for YouTube filming.• You can continuously film with the camera for hours. The maximum continuous recording time for a single movie shooting session is approximately 13 hours.• Lenses – you can either get the original Sony lenses or there are many other makes that are compatible for more competitive prices. I prefer to use original Sony lenses but if someone is on a budget then the option is there. It's much more difficult for Canon cameras as their cameras' compatibility with third part accessories is very limited from my previous experience.• Plenty of second-hand lenses and accessories available on the market. This makes the camera an excellent choice for most people who may not want to spend thousands of Ā£s for simple accessories or for additional lenses. Not so good points:• I was surprised that the screen only opens to around 176 degrees and not to full 180 degrees. This creates a slight angle when you are looking at the screen while recording videos. However, in practice this does not bother me, and I actually forgot about this small issue.• The menu is not much intuitive, and I had to learn what is what and where I can find things. I am still learning to use new features but there is a lot of information online and it’s fairly easy to find a solution to each situation.• The internal microphone is just ok. Can record voice in acceptable quality but for vlogging you need an external microphone (either cable connected or wireless). I do use DJI Mic version 1 and it works well with the Sony ZV E10. There are plenty of other microphones that are fully compatible with the ZV E10, for example Rode Wireless Go II, Hollyland Lark Max and other makes.• The inbuild option for online streaming and connection to a computer as a webcam is limited as it does not give the full resolution of the camera that is available. The resolution is set to 1,024 Ɨ 576 pixels max. So, to shoot my videos in full HD I had to purchase the Elgato Camlink 4K which I do use to connect the camera to my computer. In my view Sony should have a build in feature to resolve this issue as this camera is mainly vlogging camera so connection to a computer is a must feature. I understand that this was resolved in the ZV-E10II. Despite the issue the good thing is that the Elgato Cam Link 4K was inexpensive (there are plenty second hand available on the market).• No viewfinder (and no external option either). The tiny LCD is the only practical option. When I was using the camera during very sunny days the screen does have an option ā€˜bright sun display’ which does help. However, for more pro photography this camera is limited. I was aware about this before purchasing the camera and for me this is not an issue, but it may be for those who are looking for a more pro photography kit. If that is the case then you may look at the Sony a6400 and above series. In my view the Sony ZV-E10’s is great to be used mainly as vlogging camera and for video creators (for YouTube or other social media). At the same time, it’s good enough for occasional photography but it’s limited due to the lack of the viewfinder. It’s my first Sony camera (before I had Canon and Nikon cameras). I’m more than happy from the Sony ZV-E10 and I can fully recommend it. In future I am planning to get another Sony camera with a viewfinder so I can use it as main camera for photography.

Great size camera with plenty of flexibility
11 April 2024

I bought my camera a couple of weeks ago mainly to use for self tape auditions for tv and film work. I was looking the ZV1 initially which should have been fine but decided the ZVE10 would be better as I could build on the system and it also had the facility for headphone monitoring. Not that it would make such a big difference to my requirements but I just thought it would be better to go up a notch. When I received the camera I absolutely loved the size. It’s smaller than my gh5ii but most importantly the auto focus tracking is definitely better and this is the main reason why I decided to go for the Sony. I haven’t had a chance to use it much other than to carry out a few tests but certainly the quality is impressive and the focusing is very reliable. I haven’t had a chance to use it much other than to carry out a few tests but certainly the quality is impressive and the focusing is very reliable. The only thing I find is that the menu is more complicated to scrollThrough than the Panasonic and the wireless transfer is a lot slower. I haven’t tried to see if this is faster if connected by wire but as long as I can get my film onto my phone without the need to attach to computers and the like then it will work for me and thats fine. Going back to the size of the camera it is certainly a lot easier for me to travel with this kit if working away from home and that was also one of the reasons I was attracted to the ZVE10. Certainly the ZV1 would be more compact but weighing one against the other perhaps as someone who use to own a lot of slr equipment I can’t get away from the idea of having the ability to change lenses. The kit lens for the ZVE10 is a very compact zoom 16-50 mm and is absolutely tiny. The image quality seems to be great for what I need. Maybe for photography someone might prefer to spend a bit more on a prime lens but the purpose of me buying this kit was to have something that was capable and portable and I have to say I am really happy with my purchase. I forgot to mention that the built in microphone is also very good and will easily serve me well if I am without a mic. It would have been nice if Sony included a body and rear lens cap which I ended up buying separately but this was not such a massive issue but certainly the first time I’ve bought a lens and camera that did not include these items. Currently Sony are offering a Ā£100 discount and maybe this is because I have heard a MKii version is on the cards. But what one needs to remember (especially with the speed of development with digital equipment) is what was good yesterday should still be good for a number of years and you just anticipate frequents changes and upgrades are made as technology progresses and yes it will probably be cheaper to buy the same next year. But consider what you need it for and ask ā€œdoes it serve its purpose?ā€. If the answer is Yes then enjoy your equipment as long as you can and only upgrade if you feel you need to. I gave this product 4 stars as I feel improvements could be made to the menu system and the wireless transfer rate is considerably slower than my Panasonic. But other than this and for the sake of repeating myself. This is a really great camera and will serve my needs very well.

I now own two!

After lots of research, I purchased my first ZV-E10 a couple of months ago. I'm a workplace trainer that delivers multiple virtual training sessions a week, and I wanted something compact that still provided far more professional quality video than the webcams I'd been using previously.I have the camera set up permanently on a tripod in a studio, and I use a dummy battery for a couple of reasons - it keeps the heat away from the camera (some of my training sessions are 3 hours long) and it also protects the life of the real battery. The ZV-E10 has a 'clean' HDMI output which means I can still see menus, etc ... on the camera's screen, but they don't get broadcast beyond the camera. The lack of this feature on some competing models was a dealbreaker for me.This is my first experience with Sony cameras (I have decades of experience with another brand) so I expected to spend a bit of time getting used to the new menus, however I found everything I needed within a couple of hours of the package arriving. Since then I've explored further and now feel very comfortable navigating the many options and settings available. While it's a smaller camera than I'm used to, it feels sturdy and well-built, and the ability to swap lenses means there's plenty out there to support all foreseeable needs for me. That said, its primary role is to stream training content from my studio at work, and my many learners constantly comment on the quality of the video - as do I.I've been so impressed with the ZV-E10's ability to meet my needs that I've since bought a second one. I'm fortunate to be able to work from home at least a couple of days a week, and this means I can provide the same quality of experience for my training audiences.

Small but mighty

By far the best bang for buck camera for video.Small, light weight great features and outstanding image quality.By no means is this a perfect camera, it has its negatives like everything. It feels a bit on the cheap side being mostly plastic, no ibis, there is a crop factor in certain mod3/frame rates, on board mic is OK not not the best. But many higher price cameras have similar faults, so what this offers far outweighs it's negative points. The showcase feature is really handy and the af is solid.Great for a travel, offering both great video and good solid still image quality,Perfect for using with a gimble (fixes the stabilisation issue) even works well as a webcam for those zoom calls.Overall a solid little guy that is reliable.
