It is the best thing I've bought in years. I am over 60 and am just like a child with a new toy. I am having so much fun with it. My tiny dog loves it almost as much as I do. In fact, we are having such a great time with our sprk+, I had to order a second one so we have no down time when we travel. I absolutely love this toy.

After 6 months patiently waiting, my 8-yr old was elated to charge his SPRK on Xmas day. After the three hour initial charge, he ran it for the full hour and replaced it on the base for recharge. Sadly no recharge occured after many attempts to investigate the problem. We contacted Orbotix and within a day (starting Xmas day - they responded within a couple hours), they sent out a replacement base. Sphero is a great toy for smart kids. The downside was a disappointingly faulty charging base. The up was Orbotix for helping so quickly. The big up was my son abiding. Yes, I thought of just buying my son another SPRK, but his reward is seeing through the solution with patience.

My kid played with one as the whole class had one each to experiment with. So we got him one for Christmas and he still loves playing with it.
That is very entertaining, but easier to use with Iphone or Ipad. We tried with my Android cell and the Sphero 2.0 was not detected. Our kid is very happy.
Entertaining for 5 minutes. Then, it will be abandoned. It does not work on all Androids. Does not work on any Android version of 2.3.4 or before. There are still millions of this version Android in use today. So, check your version before you buy this.
It's a fun toy which I bought initially for my cat. She found it too large and heavy and ran away from it. it responds surprisingly well after getting used to the controls. The app has many games to play and different settings. I haven't tried programming anything on it yet.
I bought this for my daughter’s 10th birthday, and she loves it! She made a maze to drive through using a fort construction toy, and after driving manually through the maze she then programmed it to drive itself through the maze. It is amazing how it keeps track of its position and orientation even as it skids and spins around on the floor.The one downside is that it is small enough to fit through the staircase railings, and moves so quickly there is a high risk of it falling downstairs, so we have to use it in a closed room
unless you e owned one before . You dont need this it is for parts . I'm pretty handy so I figured what the heck i can hack it ! Not without more money than a new one .unless you want to find a ornament from a craft store arou d the same size and saw the sphere open and hook up alligator clips to the battery attatched to a charger . and snap it back in said orniment and repeat when it needs charge ! cause your other option is buy a charger and by that time you might as well have gone with the brand new one . ya got me sphero . only bc we dont have a crafts store in the town I reside . lol
