This. Piece. Is. Remarkable!!!!! I own a few other Staub pieces, and have done so for at least a decade. Those pieces still look brand new, so when I saw this piece (along with the awesome reviews) I knew I had to have it, so I ordered it in Grenadine. I’m slowly trying to replace my All Cl$& D5 pieces because in my opinion they are awful. That’s another story; I digress. I felt like a kid at Christmas, basically tracking every move the ups driver made, anxiously awaiting his arrival with this item. As soon as my package arrived, I tore into it and was in awe... my initial reaction was that it looked like a piece of jewelry... the packaging was beautiful too. I washed it with warm, soapy water, then found some rice to make. Let me tell you, I have never had rice so ... MoreThis. Piece. Is. Remarkable!!!!! Great minds think alike haha... buy this; you won’t be disappointed and you will get tons of compliments!!!! This is an heirloom piece for my daughter (then again, all my Staub pieces are generational). LOVE IT!!!! I think I might get another one in LaMer.

Beautifully Proportioned Pot, Rusty Knob

The proportions of this pot make it beautiful to look at, but ultimately a pot is meant to be used not just looked at. The pot is a nice weight for its size with slightly undersized handles. If you buy this, take care when moving the hot pot with non grippy pot holders - there isn't much handle to grab hold of. The pot heats evenly and like all Staub pots holds the heat really well.I had two issues with my delivery. The first pot had an eye catching defect in the enamel on the side of the pot that was under a manufacturer's label. The replacement pot I received was fine. The second pot has an issue (right out of the box) with its stainless steel knob. The unused knob is rusted on the threaded part. I'm not using the rusted knob, but it could be an issue if you had a rusty knob and the rust creeped in under the enamel into the cast iron on the lid of the pot. This is a faulty component on an otherwise very nice pot.

Cooks like a charm!

I love this little pot. I've had it a week and have used it for rice, hot cereal, a can of soup, left overs and gravy. Perfect for one or two servings of whatever. A light coat of oil or butter, heat on medium low heat 5 to 10 minutes and add food. No need to use more than medium heat unless you are bringing something up to boiling. Cleans up the same as glass or ceramic and if there is a food shadow it will come right out with a tiny bit of BarKeepers Friend cleanser (use only on the interior).Since discovering Staub 2 years ago I have replaced all my stainless steel cookware, except for my sauce pans with Staub. Grenadine is my color of choice and displayed in my kitchen. Since I can only afford the sale prices, I buy other colors when the prices are too good to pass up, they are all gorgeous. And no, I am not affiliated with the company in any way, just an avid fan.

Cute little French oven
29 October 2020

I have been using a rice cooker for over 10 years and lately the rice has been grilled on the bottom. I saw so many great reviews about this petite French oven used as a rice cooker that I decided to give it a try. I also knew I would use this size for bread pudding, curry recipes, as a sauce pan...(the price of this cute oven did not justify cooking grains only). So far I have made rice and quinoa and they turned out great, fluffy and moist. I also used it to melt chocolate and butter for a dessert recipe. My next try will be a Thai red curry recipe. My husband and kids are not a fan of it so it is the perfect size for a small portion. I like that the food remains hot and that it is very easy to clean. I have a 5qt braiser, 15.5" skillet and 13qt cocotte from le Creuset which are great products as well. I just have a preference for Staub.

I'm obsessed
27 April 2023

I am new to Staub but quickly getting addicted. This little dutch oven is so perfect for rice. I used for the first time last night and I was so excited to use. I think it will take me a few more times before I can perfect it, but I still impressed with how the rice came out. Definitely fluffiest rice I have ever made. I little dry so I think I just simmered it on too high of heat for a bit too long but was still impressed with the results. Cannot wait to keep experimenting and purchase more pieces.

Sturdy product but RUSTS
8 September 2020

Despite that Staub is known for the beauty and quality of their products, this product has a couple of cons. First, it's a beautifully made pot, very sturdy, and the style of the lid does indeed allow moisture to drip back to the pot. However, the handles are very small and gets hot once you take it off the stove. It's hard to grab the handles to pour out the boiled water or hot liquid. Also, my biggest complaint is I got the one with the stainless steel knob and it RUSTS after 2 months of use (see picture)! I've only handwashed it with a soft sponge and always lay it on the drying mat before storing it. Paid full price and I expected better from a brand to claim that their products are one of the best. You might think that the rust is only on the underside of ... MoreDespite that Staub is known for the beauty and quality of their products, this product has a couple of cons. The picture shows the rust only after I soaked it in vinegar for a day so it's actually worse than what the picture shows. Staub probably knows this occurs which is why they sell the knobs separately and make you spend more on their already expensive products.

Minus 1 star for the little chip and rust on the side of my lid! It showed up after 1 month of use! Wish it were more durable for the amount I paid for this! So sad!!!Other than that, I love this pot. I thought I bought it for making a seperate texture of rice for my young kids, but I ended up using this for not just rice for kids, but steel cut oatmeal, ramen, reheating leftovers. I use this a lot and it cleans up really easily. I can cook 2 cups of rice in here or 1/2 cup rice with meat and veggies on top.The only thing about the oatmeal is it boils soooo fast. Like 0 to boil in 1 second and the lid is so heavy, that when it bubbles, it doesn't shake or make any noises, until it's too late! I bought this at WS Outlet last year. It’s small, but it’s exactly what I got to love it for. It’s perfect for cooking grains and it’s just enough for 1 or 2 meals worth for our family of 4 or a batch of quinoa, millet, buckwheat, or farro for my week’s worth of work lunches. It makes perfect grains, due to the little droplets collecting in swirl patter on the bottom of the lid, not boiling over but reintroducing moisture back into the grains. Perfect every time. It looks pretty and doesn’t take a lot of space. My mother who was visiting for Holidays had her eye on it, so I gave it to her, thinking I’ll buy another one for myself. I paid quite a bit less than it is now so I ended up buying a small Staub pot with the glass lid, it’s a bit bigger but we’ll see how it ... MoreI bought this at WS Outlet last year. I love all my Staub pots and pans which I must confess I have several. I used to be a LeCreuset fan (they have great customer service) but enameled pots tend to burn on the bottom. The black coating on Staub is what makes a difference. Never burnt anything in it.

I agonized between the dark navy blue and the Graphite (to match my 5.5qt Cocotte), only because dark navy blue is my favorite color. I did finally go with the Graphite so that my Cocotte had a matching friend. This is the best petite French oven that you can get and you will find yourself using it for everything. I've made steel cut oats, wheat berries, rice, sauces, soups, pasta, everything in this adorable little French oven. It is petite at 1 3/4qt, but it is deep so that you can fit a lot and easily stir what you are cooking or reheating. I find myself reaching for my petite oven more than I expected, it has become my favorite cookware to use. Also, it is super easy to clean with soap and water at the sink. You will use this over and over throughout the week!
