I frequently make homemade pot pies, and purchased this as an alternative to a glass pan that burns the bottom. I am love! Excellent heat conduction for a brown crust with no burnt spots. Plus, cleanup is a snap!
Now I know how the French can do a tart every night. It's nothing big and elaborate. It is fresh fruit, a crust or cake to support the fruit, and voila! Dessert! It makes perfectly good sense. Something fresh and a little sweet, using whatever is in season, and with just enough leftover (if you're lucky) to have with breakfast. Done. And this shallow 9-inch pie dish delivers a evenly baked pie or tart every time. The quality of the bake comes from the quality of the clay, it is dense and time tested. Also making it easy to clean. Into the dishwasher it goes. Also great for quiche, and other savory recipes.
These are gorgeous and perfect in every way, EXCEPT that they are much smaller than I thought they would be. To the point, that when they arrived, I looked at them and said 'holy crap, did I order the wrong thing?'Too small to use current recipes without adjusting, which is not going to happen. I shouldn't have to do this with a Staub product.I won't be using these for PIES, which is in the name, but for other things that don't need a pie dish.First time I've ever been disappointed by Staub. I read the other reviews but assumed that the '5' stars meant it was just a bit smaller. Nope...
Nice enough and convenient to use but name is misleading. It is shallow and more suitable for baking tarts not pies. I decided to keep it anyway due to a good price and quality. on photos it is next to Farberware Baker's Advantage Ceramic Pie Dish for size comparison. BTW highly not recommend Farberware. Cracked after 2 times in my oven. Previous also survived just 3 or 4 months of occasional use.
As a budding pie baker inspired by Kate McDermott’s Art of the Pie, I was so lucky to get this gorgeous pie dish as a birthday gift. It is lighter than I expected, but so sturdy: therefore the ceramic heats up nicely to ensure crispy, light crusts. The handles are also great, in that they stick out far enough so that hot pads/oven mitts don’t get pie all over them when taking out of the oven. I could not be happier, and even though this was a gift for my October birthday, I have already added a second one to my Christmas list. Staub really is the best.
I have been looking for the perfect pie dish for years and finally found it. It’s not too deep and gives just the perfect slice of pie for guests. The handles make it easy to get pies in & out of the oven. Best of all, if your fruit pies leak a little in the bottom crust, soak the dish for a few minutes and clean up is a dream, just like all other Staub ceramics. I’ve asked my husband to buy me a third for the holidays.
I'm very happy with my purchase of the Staub 9-inch ceramique Pie Plate in white. It's sturdy, yet lightweight. It cleans easily after baking and is a perfect size for me. I used it to heat and serve mashed sweet potatoes at Christmas dinner. It was a very attractive looking dish on the table.
